Making a wooden art piece from various reclaimed wood pieces. From rough stock to wall art this piece was fun to make. Thanks to “Two Moose Designs” for the inspiration.
Beautiful work, a lot of time and patience. I took inspiration on your project and I am presently doing a table top with a mosaic of wood off cuts I have. Five different types of wood: walnut, hard maple, cherry, amarillo and cumaru. All pieces are 1½" inch wide and random lengths from 2" to 9¾". I have more than 125 pieces and I have spent hours preparing them, I admire your patience. The final result is to be admired for many years, congratulations to you!
What was that final can of spray paint you used on this final piece? And also where did you find that humongous clamp?! Seems like you made it with a huge pipe and the sliding clamps just lock into place? Did you make a tutorial on those?! I LOVE THE FINAL PIECE WOW! BIG LOVE!
The final spray is some polyurethane in a can. The clamp is a 10’ pipe with pipe clamps attached. They are 3/4” pipes and the clamps can be found at your local tool stores. I don’t use them often but on a piece this big they came in clutch.
So I just painted even amounts of blocks different colors and did a dry run first to get a feel for the lay out. We knew we wanted it to fade so we just did our best as we glued them in place.
this is lovely to watch, great video and amazing art
I appreciate that, thank you

Beautiful work. Can I ask when you finished the piece what kind of spray did u use?
Amanda S. It’s a spray on poly
I liked your drawing very much. Tell me, how did you do, drawing, was it some kind of sketch, or did you paint it by eye?

Cool :D
Thanks
A piece of wood turns into a piece of ART.....

This is beautiful. Do you mind if I use your video as a stimulus😄 What Kind of paint did you use? Was it a varnish, lacquer, stain ?
I used various spray paints and a polyurethane over the top

What is the size of the wood dowels? Not the heights, but the actual dowel. It looks maybe 1x1 inch?
They’re about 1 1/4” x1 1/4”
Beautiful what are the different measurements on the pieces?
1”, 1.5”, 2”,2.5”, and 3”, thanks for watching
Very cool! I'm about to do this same project. How many hours do you think it took?
Thank you, I’d estimate maybe 20-25. The painting process took a long time.
it would be cool if you showed a bit more of painting process :) @@outcastwoodworks
The real question is...how heavy was it? 😳 Awesome piece!
It was a beast. I definitely won’t be taking it down anytime soon
What are you spraying on it at the end. Is it a varnish.
Polyurethane
