I’m currently on my last 26” x 64” wood art piece like this for my niece. She wants them as a headboard since her bed type doesn’t fit traditional bed frames. The first one was fun...but I’m almost done with #3 and am so burned out. Lol. Definitely a labor of love...and I won’t be offering this service ever again ;). To anyone else wanting to do this, take my advice...keep it small! I used 1/4” plywood for my backer, but I rabbeted my 1x2” frame piece edges and inserted the backer. Then I just ripped the 1xs down by 1/4” to make up the difference. Looks more professional. But I love the way yours came out, too!
It gets a bit tricky when you introduce oil base products because they take so long to dry. I would avoid cutting the stained pieces because I wouldn't want to get stain on my miter saw. Also staining the pieces when they are already cut allows us to stain the edges so everything is the same color!
The temporary was meant to hold it in for the mean time but I realize I should have just nailed it in right away to make it permanent. Now I know not to make that mistake for the next one!
would it make sense to try to do it with a hand saw and lightly sand it, or would i just go crazy after a while? :) i really want to make this, but a miter saw would be way too intense of an investment.

Awesome idea, love your design. Table saw, sled with a stop block. Cleaner cuts and way faster.
Well done! This is a beautiful and interesting decor for the living room. I might steal this idea for my own living room. 😊
Warm and nice
Nice work. Inspiring for sure.

Thank you! Very much worth the effort!
That turned out really neat! Great Idea!
Thank you! Really love the outcome and have more wood working projects in the works.
I love this! But I would dread dusting it 😂
Just wow
Very nice design. Couldn't you prestain and stain before cutting each piece?
I was wondering the same thing. Looks great, but this seems way simpler to stain first.

@@createkev looking at the video, your cut edges are hidden by the piece that they but in to. With the drying time, yeah... It takes a while
Damn dude. Looks excellent. So much damn work
I second that! Just cutting the slats was about a 12 hour day.. Lots goes into a 7 foot work of art!
Maybe a smallish french cleat for something like this.
This is amazing! What app do you use for the sketching?
it`s very best of desigen
Beautiful. Are you the one on Etsy?
Love from India 🇮🇳❤🚩💐👌🏻👍🏻😊🙏🏻
Excellent but I’m curious why you used a temporary backboard and not the permanent one
The temporary was meant to hold it in for the mean time but I realize I should have just nailed it in right away to make it permanent. Now I know not to make that mistake for the next one!
Why not use laser cutting for this? Would have been so much quicker. Please enlighten me, great work my friend.
Size on pieces you used to make the shapes 1x2 ??
Do you have plans for this?
What size slats did you use?

That would work but I think you'd go crazy cutting all of it by hand
good
What app are you using on your iPad?
