I've been fishing "round reel" Abu's since the early 1990's and I still use them till this day!!!! I really want to fish the Morrums but they are way out of my budget. Maybe one day I can afford an older Morrum and add it to my collection and fish it hard.
Great parts availability and support!!!
Abu Garcia...For Life!!!
This was very informative. Thanks. I have, among many other brands of rods and reels, 33 Ambassadeur reels. I maintain them, clean and lubricate them and have upgraded most of the classics (5500C, etc.) with ceramic spool bearings. These are my finest reels and my love for them started at around 10 years old...I'm 63 now. Thanks for the history. JEE.
I am one of the fans of abu garcia. It is good that Abu Garcia Mörrum products are remarketed because they are very popular, especially the classic but modern design. I hope, Mörrum zx can be remarketed with a round design and at the same time improve the infiniti braking system with a combination of centrifugal and magnetic. I am very interested in the mörrum because it is compact in size. Abu Garcia should maintain this tradition in addition to producing low profile baitcaster reels. Look at shimano, they produce low profile baitcaster reels and at the same time still produce reels round shape like Culcutta Conquest. I have a Culcutta Conquest DC 101. Abu Mörrum should not need to be discontinued, even it can be improved. At the same time Abu Mörrum can be improved for saltwater use. In my personal opinion, Abu Garcia Mörrum can go further like Shimano Culcutta Conquest.
Thank you for your support and feedback.
Yes, we are!
Fancisco, the Morrum is really designed as a bass fishing reel. For Catfish our recommendation is either the C3 or C4 round reel. Thank you for fishing Abu, your support is truly appreciated.
A lot of it is personal preference. Round reels have more line capacity in general. Low profiles target the bass market, they're lighter and more compact so work better for long sessions for some people.
The Morrum is not designed for saltwater, but check out C3, C4 and Record round reels if you're targeting saltwater. Those are all made in Sweden as well.
Baitcast reels come in two options, round and low profile.
Always wanted a Morrum, why do you guys not have them on abu's site?
Billy, the Morrum comes in just one size, 3600, it's priced at $499.95 and holds 135 yards of 12lb mono or 135 yards of 30lb braid.
Any difference between round and low profile reels beside their shapes?
Hi AbuGarciaTv! what is the different between this morrum and t3 2009 morrum zx lj ivcb ? thanks!
Hye..can it be use for saltwater fishing?.
Please tell me you are making this in a left handed version!
We have some, what size swimbaits are you casting?
Can you use the reel to heavy jerkbait fishing?
is there a difference between round and not-round reels?
I'm new at fishing! Will this reel be able to handle a big 20lb cat fish?
Is it a freshwater or a saltwater reel?
Try either the 6'6" M or the 6'9" MH Veritas rods, Billy.
They need more fore-grip for when palming the reel so you can grip the rod. In fact they need a fore-grip because they don't have one at all, just a nubbin for securing the reel.
how much does one of these reels cost?
We're working on it, we usually put new product pages up in September, once product is available. We just announced these new products at ICast. The specs are included the video description and you can also see them along with product shots on our Facebook page. If you have any questions we're here to help.
Just read that the Morrrums aren't rated for saltwater :-(
bloody hell, just placed an order for mörrum and now i hear it's not for saltwater?? why is this information not given on the product?
The Morrum is priced at $499.99
These 'bent' handles don't allow you to get your forefinger comfortably alongside the reel to balance it when casting.
500 dollars might have to splurge coming out with a swimbait rod anytime soon?
500$ some feature
