  • Bron's talk explores the critical importance of comprehensive puberty and sex education for young people, going beyond the discomfort often associated with these topics and taking it beyond the classroom. She draws from her extensive experience working with young people to shed light on this, sharing statistics that may make you want to cry and words that may make you squirm. However ultimately, Bron challenges you to embed life values into every connection we have with young people - and how that is within all our reach. Bron has been the Community Health Nurse for the Mount Alexander Shire since 2017. Before this she was a school nurse in Alice Springs and has over twenty years’ experience working with younger people - including her own. Bron absolutely loves her role and sees it as a privilege rather than a job. She runs a wide variety of programs, but her favourite is interacting and learning with young people to understand puberty and sexuality and its implications in our complex world. It takes only one adult who can hold up the light in a young person’s life to make a significant difference to that young person's life outcomes. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
