"self-defence weapon" *99% of the clips used in the video are of the medic pushing aggressively instead of kiting the enemy while backpedaling behind corners and spraying like one should with any syringe gun*
The syringe gun is a defensive weapon. Everyone who tries to use it is using it wrong. If you're running forward with it you're using it wrong, you should be running backwards. When you need to retreat like when that heavy you've been healing dies you're suppose to pull out the syringe gun and just spray while backpedalling. That ending made me tear up “It smiles and steps down knowing that it’s job it done” “It’s watched you from spraying a heavy with needles to wining the game with that perfect timed uber charge”
The Syringe Gun. A story of pain, self-sacrifice, and ultimately, love. At the end of the day, all I can really say is: ArraySeven, how the hell did you manage to make me tear up about the Syringe Gun?
anyone can personify anything into anyone you can imagine since everything is similar to most things. you see your bedroom door? it knows all your secrets, has it ever betrayed you? no, it was the bedroom window, that sneaky snitch XD
I mained Medic back before the Crusader’s Crossbow was added, and I got very good at the syringes’ arc and speed. So much so that I was really hesitant to pick up the crossbow. The Syringe Gun’s strength probably lies in people always expected you to run away or charge with the Übersaw. With Medic’s high movement speed, one could just back pedal and let them run into the syringes. I killed so many pyros, demomen, scouts and snipers.
@@waffleless agreed. To me,people are treating it like it's an actual gun,but to me? It's a splattershot from splatoon. And since i mained that gun and played splatoon alot,i'm very much used to shooting the syringe gun and tacking on quite enough damage for my team to kill them, for them to have to retreat,or even to outright kill them.
From now on I will always equip the syringe gun if I don’t plan on using a primary. The syringe gun guided me through my journey of medic. Was with me through high and low. I will show my appreciation and have it accompany me through the battlefield. Thank you syringe gun you served you color well

Needles are hard to strafe with, because they are pretty much non-deflectable rapid fire projectiles which are hard to combine with your predictions of an enemy's position
For me, the syringe gun is handy as a passive heal when I'm in situations where I take a little damage and pull back to recover, without pushing me to be aggressive like the blut. It can also be handy once you get an enemy chasing you as it can be effectively used at a moderate distance when falloff is accounted for or the enemy is actively running into your syringes.
The only thing to make the Syringe Guns good is the just increase the projectile speed and automatically reload since the Crusader's Crossbow pretty much outclasses this weapon in every way
Fun Fact: Medic's melee was originally going to heal and it would be a comically large syringe that functioned identically to the TFC medkit. Also, the Syringe still exists in the form of a much smaller version in the top compartment of the levels 2 & 3 Dispensers.
I’m in the middle of the “don’t use the syringe gun” argument. I find it should be slightly necessary to have a weapon for mid range fights against any other class because: 1. When you pull your melee out you are basically saying that you are on your last leg. Melee weapons are the epitome of the last stand and if you use them otherwise it’s only to meme around. The only reason why most medics take out their Ubersaws rather than their syringe gun is because it has a way higher percentage to crit than other melees. Which doesn’t make fucking sense at all, what’s the point in having slower swing speed if you are going to have a decent chance at landing a critical anyways? Uncle Dane made this apparent in his random crits video and I think it should be addressed hard. This doesn’t primarily relate to the new player, but it does show a problem with having a non-stock weapon like that. 2. The syringe gun is your PRIMARY defensive tool. You should always be healing, it’s the most apparent thing with the class, but you should also defend if you’re teammates die and you are running back to spawn to hold on to Uber. You want to avoid being in melee distance from other enemies as much as possible when you are defending yourself, not only because the enemy will be able to aim easier when they are close but because every weapon will just deal more damage when closer. 3. The syringe gun needs to be versatile to have decent use at midrange. Right now, the reason why people use the crossbow is because it heals and hurts, it has a risk and reward system by having inverse damage fall off, it automatically reloads when holstered (which emphasizes more healing with the medigun and less shooting), AND the most primary point, it’s long range. That’s a lot of good sides for a weapon with only two big down sides; it stinks at close range, and its ammo capacity. It’s considered high skill because you need to emphasize your shots too. The syringe gun has none of that with the exception that it still stinks at close range like the crossbow. So what if we ultimately changed that? The syringe gun needs something to emphasize a different play style from the crossbow to make it different, but actually make it hold a candle to the crossbow. 4. The syringe gun might teach you NOT to use it, but that shouldn’t be the primary teaching tool to knowing your role as medic. I understand what you are trying to say in this video but I just don’t think having a useless weapon is a great teaching tool to knowing that the medigun is your real friend. I think being effectively taught by your teammates and being killed multiple times will teach you how to stay behind your teammates and learn to support them. This has always been an issue that TF2 has never really taught players at the beginning what to do or what roles are, but having one stock gun pick up the slack for teaching that doesn’t really do the class justice. That’s personal opinion though. 5. More viable weapons means more interesting ideas to play a game. Let me conclude everything by saying this; playing with one or two weapons that are the only meta is incredibly boring, it slows the game state. With more viable ways to play a character comes more creativity and meta breaking ideas. And when the only, truly, viable weapon is an unlockable weapon that new players don’t have access to early on, it can be unfair to a starting players experience. I believe most weapons should cater to the stock original and work ways to make both weapons feel viable without clash. Unfortunately when you look at each individual class you see a lot of issues pop up when going against that belief, especially Medic. Sorry to rant, just wanted throw my hat into the ring when it came to the syringe gun!
I agree, this video neglects the fact that the unlocks of every class except for medic are sidegrades, not direct upgrades. New medic players shouldn't be put at a disadvantage when facing older medic players. PS: Also, the blutsauger is just as crappy as the overdose when compared to the crossbow, for the reasons you've explained; it both damages and heals.
This thing did finish off many many intruders on 2Fort. When I am able to aim properly at all (not often, but this happens) the syringe gun has much usefulness, especially when I am left alone on a battlefield :)
The syringe gun. The only gun that can output at least 40 syringes all over the enemy without knowing what's in *those* syringes. That's, in my opinion, how overdose works.

I love the Syringe gun, I use it to lower health of my enemies for my teammates, it’s like terrible support.
An assist kill-maker, in a way?
Needles are hard to strafe with, because they are pretty much non-deflectable rapid fire projectiles which are hard to combine with your predictions of an enemy's position
Been a while, I remember playing you when I first started playing and my god that outro brought back memories
I still play that song to this day
For me, the syringe gun is handy as a passive heal when I'm in situations where I take a little damage and pull back to recover, without pushing me to be aggressive like the blut. It can also be handy once you get an enemy chasing you as it can be effectively used at a moderate distance when falloff is accounted for or the enemy is actively running into your syringes.
2:30
As a medic main, this does indeed put a smile on my face
The only thing to make the Syringe Guns good is the just increase the projectile speed and automatically reload since the Crusader's Crossbow pretty much outclasses this weapon in every way
StickMaster500 shhhh
We have MvM for the syringe gun
Okay blutsauger and overdose too but these have a few disadvantages so hecc
And maybe 1% uber per hit
Lets make a server full of just medics with syringe guns
The syringe gun is a melee weapon that doesn’t deal damage, but deals bleed if your aiming it just right, and constantly using your ammo
Informative, well done, and fun to watch!
Quality over quantity! Thanks Array for these videos even though I don’t play medic much
Good video, dude. Even though I don't play TF2, I still like your content.
I find it should be slightly necessary to have a weapon for mid range fights against any other class because:
0:52
Two obsolete weapons? Hold it right there... What have you done to the real arrayseven?
Crossbow and Critasaw (ubersaw) would like to have a word with you
This thing did finish off many many intruders on 2Fort. When I am able to aim properly at all (not often, but this happens) the syringe gun has much usefulness, especially when I am left alone on a battlefield :)
3:51

The syringe gun.
The only gun that can output at least 40 syringes all over the enemy without knowing what's in *those* syringes.
That's, in my opinion, how overdose works.
The syringe gun is just a very supportive parent watching it's child grow up.
Because of how syringes deal damage, you need to aim such that it makes a straight line to the target. Spread will not work.
