I used the Beatbuddy and Ditto looper for years as a one-man act. The MIDI connection was a life changer! The way it locks the loop to the beat is amazing!! Great demo. Also love the A6 guitar, Godin rules!!

Been doing the one man band thing for long time now. Also own the Godin A6 Ultra, mines black. My looper setup is the MIDI Maestro, Beatbuddy, synced into the Aeros Looper. Right now I’m using an acoustic multi effects for the acoustic side, and an electric multi effects for the magnetic pickup side with volume pedals to raise and lower which ever side I want for the part in the song, for hands free mix the two. Love your set though. Nice clean sound! Thanks for making this video. I always enjoy learning how others go about it! Have a good one!

Big learning curve for anyone that is not into it but wants to start you make it look easy as you know how to use them

For sure. I have the bells and whistles here only because I already have them on hand, but you could simplify this set up by just using the looper and the Beat Buddy. I've accumulated the parts over years, so it's probably not where I would suggest to start.

@@MunicipalManMusicMedia I have just got a Mooer groove X 2 looper it has drums but they do not quite have the beats that I want so looking at such things as beat Buddy to get a drum beat to fit to my easy type songs or maybe a drum machine to set up what I want.

@@barryhambly7711 Sounds good. You may want to ask around to make sure the Mooer syncs well with the Beat Buddy. I like the Beat Buddy because of its flexibility and natural drum sounds, and being able to work it with your foot while playing. Once you get the hang of it, it becomes more intuitive.

Lots of people in the comments section with big feelings about loopers. As someone who's dedicated his life to antagonizing gatekeepers, that only makes me want to use them more. Cool setup!

Thanks for commiserting. It never fails to surprise how personally some people take it when not everyone does exactly what they do. I foolishly think music is a creative endeavour. You seem to have more patience for responding to them than I do.

@@MunicipalManMusicMedia I guess I'm just fascinated by the mindset. "Your process is different from mine and therefore bad." I've always enjoyed seeing how different people make different rigs work, and this type of playing has its own specific skill set.

Handy item - I added a chime sound effect to the beat buddy to play at the end of songs. Just assign to the extra foot pedal switch. Magical. You can also assign a cymbal crash to add emphasis. The BeatBuddy is really fun.

Pretty cool, a lot of gear though, I did something similar - my guitar goes into a zoom G1Xfour then into a mini NUX amp (as a preamp) the headphone out then goes into a digitech Trio+ (powered by a back up battery) which then goes into a Roland street ex (eliminating the mixer) the drum output of the trio goes into the streets' line in, I use a Shure mic, into a zoom v3 into the Mic input of the street, I also pick off signals to send to a tascam DR-40 to record - every thing can be powered by battery - it can go to the park or where ever.

Sounds like a good set up. I didn't set out with this in mind, so I was just using what I had already and added the ditto 4 because it syncs well with the beat buddy. I use this if I'm doing a solo show, but a pared down set up for busking, which is much more manageable. Thanks for the feedback. It's always good to hear what others come up with.

My setup. Godin A6. Transducer into mixer. Electric into a modelling pedal. I have a Korg PA600 to play drums and bass. It is controlled by home-made midi pedal. This pedal sends chord changes to arranger and harmonized. (Harmony m) Also sends intro, variations, endings. I use mobilesheets to load tabs and load song into the arranger. I will often find a lead guitarist to join me. I can switch songs in seconds.

Can you use the Trio plus live? I’ve been using it @ local gigs by prerecorded loops but occasionally I get requests and how could you use the Trio live on the fly, or what else might you request?

    • @MunicipalManMusicMedia
      @MunicipalManMusicMedia  4 місяці тому

Thanks for the question. I've never used the Trio plus, so I'm not very familiar with it. It strikes me that using a looper for requests would require a large library of beats and would be hit-and-miss as to whether you could make work. I'm sure there are musicians better than me who do it though.

I brought a Godin guitar with nylon strings and a built in guitar synthesizer years ago. Unfortunately the D string used to cause runaway feedback all the time. I sent the guitar back to Godin and they weren't prepared to do anything about it so $2300 down the drain. I regret that I didn't buy the solid body version but I was pretty devastated.

although it takes balls to get up and fill the stage by yourself, these things fit for practice. recording ...maybe. never did like the solo stuff. mostly sounds generic and sterile, and i wont mention too fake. did i mention that? there is nothing like a full band of live people, talent levels, influences, styles and more are what make a band and a song. bands are not stupid, especially if they click. the thought of a solo person filing the whole scene is ridiculous, and, to me most times disappointing.

(im in northeast u.s.) i havent played in years.
most ceremonies around here now are djs.
lots of people in cities, especially music recording towns, do the one man thing to get exposure. like i said when there is a full band you get a certain flavor, recipe, you dont get with a solo act.

I hear ya' - at least they had some live players. Lip-syncing has been around for a long time, and using a sampler on stage is some measure of pre-recorded music, but I guess ultimately however you make your act work is alright, and let the audience be the judge.
