This is Jessica's (aka "Dixie's") journey to hike the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. Follow her as she makes this trip.
❤
Thank you, Jessica!!! We are all so grateful....
Love watching your videos ive seen most of them if not all. very informative enjoyed them all plus your winning personality, im sure ill watch lot them again !
Watching these videos has inspired me to take the family out and go for a hike. We are planning on the Ozark Highland trail it's only 218 miles but with an 8 and 12 year old that's probably enough. Thank you for the inspiration.
I think it was mountain goat that Olivia and I ran into! It's so weird how things worked out like that.
Dixie, I am still watching your updates. and thanks .take care.
+++++ yes, I am thru-watching ALL the videos . . . .
Love the Westie!!!!
Dixie, Just finished watching your updates. I believe you have finished something you can be proud of yourself for the rest of your life. I, as a younger man, did a lot of hiking and watching stories like yours have made me missed my hiking days. I really enjoyed your videos and just wanted to say hi and thanks for sharing. What is your next adventure?? Regards
Hi Dixie, i powered through all your videos and you are a true inspiration, I'm a west coast guy, retired, planning to through hike in 2017....my question is what kind of training regiment did you do to prepare for your hike?
In listening to your comments regarding NOBO and SOBO, it suddenly occurred to me that SOBO hikers do get the same climatic finish that NOBO hikers get. Climbing Mt Katahdin; especially, when the weather is frigid and the ground is covered in snow is certainly a much more fitting end than reaching Springer Mountain. Of course, I have not done either one so maybe my thinking is flawed.
I had a cairn terrier when I was young,I would love to take a cairn on a treck because I know they are hardy little dog's but don't know how much of a hick they would be comfortable with, there's not much information on this and there is a lot of factors to be considered on any dog
Awesome update. Beautiful dog, I love her energy. I'm interested to know what kind of dog Hank is (that's if I heard your last update correctly). Also, Jewel is the English translation of my name, Piroj which is a Indian word for a type of rare jewel stone. and no, although it's pronounced Pyro, it is not associated with fire.lol I hope you have a great week Dixie. God bless : )
Dixie.....I am hiking the AT next year (My 50th year celebration), and I have a Big Agnes Fly Creek UL2. Noticed you had the same and wondered if it performed the way you hoped it would. Did it stand up to the wind and rain well.
glad to see you are back home. gotta ask though what is it that you miss from being out there doing the trail now that you are back with all the gizmos and gadgets of "modern" living?
That´s what i´m talking about :)
....i was in kinda "oldschoolmode"
....so i switched back :)
Also to follow my intension
....to realise your enormus evolution!
You are also such a good storyteller!

*!!! GO DIXIE !!!*
All the best from Berlin/Germany
I watched all your blogs this summer J and really proud of you. Was concerned for your safety of course. My guy fantasy would be to see you team up with Crystal Weaver on the PCT. Hiker babe heaven! (With all respect)
Dixie, I am planning a section hike this summer and would like to introduce my 16 year old son to hiking. Do you think the Grayson Highlands would be a good place to start a section hike? I need somewhere reasonably close to the Cincinnati area. I have also thought about heading to The Georgia or North Carolina area. I have enjoyed watching your journey and look forward to watch you on the PCT.
What happens when you get to Katahdin? How do people get back to civilization?
Perry, watch at least her AT vids in Maine. Dixie lost her hiking poles on the way up and I think she used a shuttle to and from. In 2016 the campsites closed on Oct 15 and I seem to remember Baxter State Park administration said the shuttle was the only option, though I can find the page where I read that.
Chris in VA Thanks
God always sends His angles to aid His children!
Yes, they're very helpful for geometry problems
I love your accent. Where are you from?
she's from Alabama
OMG. Loved all the videos. I'm 51 retired firefighter and I'm planning a thru NOBO March 2016. Any advise would be great. I have all ultra light weight gear. I just hope my body holds up. I can handle the cold, hot, wet, and wet and cold. But it's my body I hope handles it. You are a firemans hero. I just hope I and do as much as you have done. Every time I watched your videos I always asked myself- what are you doing here? Get on the trail! It was too late for me to start, so next year I'm heading out. I'm going to have a firefighters wife edit and post my videos as you have done. FIREPLUG Is my trail name
+Alan Taylor On a day hike years ago I met a NOBO that was from Oklahoma, he was in his early 70s, he make it. We met him near Afton Mt. in VA. It can be done.
