Were you ever frustrated with messy edges of your garter stitch scarf? Here is a solution to this problem!
When working in Garter stitch, Brioche, or other vertically compressed stitch patterns, it’s better to use slip DS selvedge, in which the selvedge stitch is worked every second row. This is achieved by slipping the first stitch of every row, and working the last stitch as a Distitch. Remember, because each slipped Distitch is stretched over 4 rows, it gathers the vertical edge, so it needs to be worked looser than the body stitches.

Dear Dana!
You have few possibilities.
First, work both DS selvedges as knitDS, and purl all sts in between.
There are two types of selvedges: the open selvedge and the closed selvedge, the video above is for the closed one. Please look at another variation too.
Or, you may try a purlDS selvedge variation! This way all your sts will be purl stitches - the selvedges will be purled and the sts in between will be purled.
For the purlDS there are also two types of selvedges, open and closed.

а вы не пробовали сделать что-то подобное для УЗЕЛКОВОГО края?
в косичковом крае вместо двух петель двух рядов - одна, так как снимается.
но иногда, для большего растяжения края, нужно провязывать две петли, и такой край некрасивый.
вдруг вам придет идея...

Если я поняла правильно, задача заключается в создании дистичного края у которого вместо цепочки лицевых петель, идёт цепочка изнаночных петель, которые образуют так называемый узелковый край.
Мне нравится лицевая кромка, которая очень декоративная. Но если необходимо, то её можно легко превратить в изнаночную кромку. Я связала несколько образцов и определила, что самой оптимальной будет вариация на основе кромки из закрытых лицевых петель (knit DS selvedge closed).

Кромочные петли вяжем также, как показано на видео, разница только в положении рабочей нити при снятии кромочной петли в начале ряда.
Узелковый дистичный край получается толще обычного, меньше растягивается и достаточно прочный.
