Yep, bring on the utes, with fast charging. They've got the capacity up there well enough, now for the fast charging. E.g. I drive 17 hours in 1 day to visit my folks. Saves accommodation and extra costs throughout, doing it in one day, both there and back. I would not buy an EV of any kind, until I can still do that trip, in 1 day. The recharge, time, for a 17 hour trip, that's multiple charges, would turn it into a two day trip. Stuff that. hopefully they are close, to a 10 minute charge.
Australia is a small market, just 25m people. There are some EVs for mining sites, and a Victorian EV truck company. But it was too small for Toyota, GM, Ford, and Mitsubishi to manufacture there.
@@Secretlyanothername Holden was founded when our population was 11 million. We reached a peak in car manufacturing in 1972, then the slide set in. I disagree. 25 million people need a lot of cars.

I want to throw a few ideas at you if you don't mind? Ok firstly Why don't you have electric charge turbines on the wheels or air vents with high speed bearings with blades to recharge the batteries ? Second where is the solar panels on the roof re-charging the batteries ,Third I know how to create things better if you run out of power in the middle of the Bush why not have a small battery you can pull out and take to a gas station to recharge just like a jerry can scenario ? You can have these ideas for free!!.
I really hope that rivian can produce a vehicle and sell it at a price that allows the average American to purchase it, otherwise it's another Vehicle for the Rich and Famous. The real benefit of electric vehicles will not be felt and appreciated until the average American household can afford 1
Unfortunately starting a car company is incredibly hard and expensive. Which is why companies go for the luxury models first, easier to make profits. And electric parts may be simpler but batteries are still expensive and so cost to buy is higher than a comparable gas car. Rivian has stated they have plans for cheaper cars down the road, and have stated they have lowered their initial prices, but these are still expensive trucks/suvs to start with. Best bet for "electric for the masses" is the very base tesla model 3, Chevy bolt, hyundai kona/inoniq ev, Kia niro ev, or volkswagon id 3. Those are still 30k+ cars though. We're a bit aways from a 20k electric car that does what we want it to.
I think it does make an impact. BMW/Audi/Benze have felt the drop in sales from people opting for a Tesla. It has spurred their electrification efforts. I think this will do the same for Range Rover, obviously Lincoln (since Rivian is making the electric version for Ford), GM. Unfortunately even when they get to economies of scale, battery demand will keep prices for electric cars high for a while.
This video shows what America will look like in the coming years. Yes, right now their vehicles are priced for upper earners. But surely that will change. As evidence, listen to their CEO RJ Scaringe. If you listen in between the words, he's in this for the long haul. That means making EVs for all of us. Markets are self-determining forces that can't be stopped. When Tesla started few predicted their success. This year, they became the world's most valuable car company. Not because of hype, because their product is better, cheaper, faster and safer than ICE cars. Younger people get that it's EVs, not ICE cars that are the future. They get that the future is renewables, not oil and gas. They're now living through the 2nd financial collapse. They see how the system is rigged, they get the value of crypto currencies. This nightmare we're all living in will give way to a new and better world. From an interview with Mark Cuban yesterday: Billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban, the owner of the Dallas Mavericks and investor on “Shark Tank,” told Yahoo Finance on Tuesday that “capitalism is what’s going to save us” when we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic. “Capitalism didn’t get us here. A virus did,” Cuban told Yahoo Finance in a wide-ranging interview. “The one thing about the United States of America that’s different than every other country on the planet is that we’re a country of entrepreneurs. We look to start businesses,” he added. “When we talk about the American Dream, when we talk about rags-to-riches stories, it starts with an entrepreneur coming up with an idea and executing on that idea. We’re going to get to the other side of this. I’m positive of that.” Striking a tone of optimism, Cuban, who’s built and backed several companies, asserts that we’ll look back on this time and see the future “world-changing” companies launched. “That’s where capitalism really shines,” he added. While Cuban believes capitalism will address the economy’s problems, he points out the need to be “smarter capitalists,” adding that now is a “chance for a reset.” “We can start to learn from our mistakes and say we need to have our employees participate more so that when we build back up or when we grow, then everybody can participate,” he said. “I’m a big believer that every company - I’ve done this with my startups, every company I’ve started - and every employee should have stock and ownership in their company.” In the same interview Mark talked about that we need an infrastructure investment - but it needs to be forward thinking: "When we talk about rebuilding infrastructure, I think we need to start asking about having self-driving cars-only lanes on roads,” he said. “We need to talk about on highways, how do we make sure self-driving trucks and autonomous vehicles can operate with cross-country carrying and load-carrying?" Cuban said part of this process will involve getting people comfortable with self-driving cars, especially within cities. He suggested putting bridges over the top of roads like in Las Vegas for pedestrians crossing the street. If the U.S. sticks to the old school playbook on infrastructure, the country may look back and realize a missed opportunity that was obvious, he said. "Look, it's great to rebuild roads. Nobody wants to drive through potholes. We want to create those jobs,” he said. “But, at some point in the future, we are going to ask ourselves, 'Why didn't we consider the fact that we are going towards autonomous driving?’ It's just obvious. This isn't predicting a Jetsons-like event. We know that autonomous vehicles will be part of our future. We are already starting to see it." We will see a brighter and better world out of this. Markets and capitalism will lead the way.
3 More models by 2025. He's actually stated there will be more accessible price points. Next one is a rally car with "insane performance" so maybe not that one.
I expected them to be much further along than this by now. That looks to be at least a year away from making anything. Then there is working out all the bugs and getting things really moving, which is probably another 6 months.

This video sure doesn’t look like they’re 2 weeks away from starting production. The unfortunate part is when you look at Tesla’s beginning of new production facilities... these guys got a long ways to go. I think they’ll do great! And I’m excited for it! This video was obviously filmed before the Covid 19 outbreak. Look how close people are standing? If they were not close to production, they wouldn't be stamping body panels.
@@TroySavary Of course it was before the Covid-19 pandemic. Did you read the video description? "Just before temporarily shutting down our facilities to help slow the spread of COVID-19, we made this internal video progress report so our team across all locations could see how far the plant has come."
@Double Darrel Not quite. Rivian has stated since their reveal in Nov 2018 that production would be in late 2020. And within the last 6 or so months refined that date to be December 2020. So far I have not heard anything that has moved up or pushed back that date, though the latter is more likely considering the current pandemic affects on businesses.

When can I invest
🥰
Cant wait for a $40,000 EV truck...
1:03 I get that a lot...😁
From an interview with Mark Cuban yesterday:
Billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban, the owner of the Dallas Mavericks and investor on “Shark Tank,” told Yahoo Finance on Tuesday that “capitalism is what’s going to save us” when we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic.
I’m positive of that.”
Striking a tone of optimism, Cuban, who’s built and backed several companies, asserts that we’ll look back on this time and see the future “world-changing” companies launched.
“That’s where capitalism really shines,” he added.
While Cuban believes capitalism will address the economy’s problems, he points out the need to be “smarter capitalists,” adding that now is a “chance for a reset.”
“We can start to learn from our mistakes and say we need to have our employees participate more so that when we build back up or when we grow, then everybody can participate,” he said. “I’m a big believer that every company - I’ve done this with my startups, every company I’ve started - and every employee should have stock and ownership in their company.”
In the same interview Mark talked about that we need an infrastructure investment - but it needs to be forward thinking:
"When we talk about rebuilding infrastructure, I think we need to start asking about having self-driving cars-only lanes on roads,” he said. “We need to talk about on highways, how do we make sure self-driving trucks and autonomous vehicles can operate with cross-country carrying and load-carrying?"
Cuban said part of this process will involve getting people comfortable with self-driving cars, especially within cities.
We are already starting to see it."
We will see a brighter and better world out of this. Markets and capitalism will lead the way.
3 More models by 2025. He's actually stated there will be more accessible price points. Next one is a rally car with "insane performance" so maybe not that one.
Expensive car
Can somebody say social distancing?
8k videos please
Look what you've started Elon
I expected them to be much further along than this by now. That looks to be at least a year away from making anything. Then there is working out all the bugs and getting things really moving, which is probably another 6 months.
Go Rivian Go.....
Tesla became Honda of EV's, you become Toyota of EV world.....
1:46 "From old to new is really neat. To see all of these old presses that were this Mitsubishi green to go to bright white, you know that's unheard of if you've been in any other press shop."
He hasn't seen Tesla's factory.
When the construction workers say they have for instance “44 other construction projects“ or talk about other things it’s hard to tell whether they are referring to Rivian projects or the construction company that they are working for.
April fools...that was just stock footage. We have nothing!
.
.
On a serious note. I wish you luck!!!
Can't wait to not be able to afford an outrageous $30000+ car.
You better triple that price for the Truck $90,000
Nearly all new electric vehicles are $30,000+, that's how economies of scale work. Once production and competition ramps up, price will come down.
CANCELLED my Reservation after RIVIAN found a way to increase price by cancellng EXPLORE model.. I will reserver FISKER OCEAN now for $49,999
Tesla Roadster vs R1T quarter mile who wins?
Off road, rock crawling. Who wins?
Whoever gets to make grilled cheese sandwiches from their pullout kitchen at the finish line is always a winner in my book.
Not sure about the logo what does it mean anyway? Maybe use some of the investor's cash for a better designer.
If that's the current progress. We have a few more year's before it's actually spitting out EV's out of that plant. Am I wrong?
This video sure doesn’t look like they’re 2 weeks away from starting production. The unfortunate part is when you look at Tesla’s beginning of new production facilities... these guys got a long ways to go. I think they’ll do great! And I’m excited for it! Preordered a long time ago, but going to be a long while before we see them even NEAR Tesla. Like 10+ years.
Double Darrel sorry bud. Electric car startup... I, and everyone, will compare it to Tesla. That’s like saying don’t compare GM to Ford or Airbus to Boeing. I think Rivian is going to do great things! Very excited! Like I said, I have had one preordered for a very long time.
Its looking to be a useful electric vehicle. Just don't copy Toyota or others an keep blazing your own path.
Invite innovation, criticism, an initiative. Reward the hard worker an don't baby the lazy ass people an your hard workers will always keep faith in company. If you loose that it becomes a mess.
