@@markplott4820 Unfortunately that ship has sailed. So the next best thing "we" can do is to stop putting more into the ocean and extract whatever we can from it. Making / using new products from what we extract is a nice bonus. Kudos Rivian!
@@chuckm260 - JAPAN has has Closed Loop recycling for a Decade, its Bottles are mostly Recycled and Plant Plastics.
we need to Learn from Japan.
they even make School Uniforms from recycled Plastic.
@@markplott4820 - I couldn't agree more, but that's only one country. Other countries, including US, have recycling programs, but it's not enough as the problem is not getting any better. We ALL (countries/nations) need to do better.
@@chuckm260 - America does NOT have TOTAL Recycling. America does LITTLE recycling in House, it gets Sorted and Shipped to 3rd world as Resources.

This documentary needs to be so much longer.
Sure the promotional vids could be longer but this is how marketing 101 work's, keep people hungry and feed them just a little bit of food they will stick around longer and buy from you.

This trucks look beautiful and the specs seem phenomenal as well, HOWEVER, I will point out one thing. The truck's bed (if online forms and articles are to be believed) will only be available in one size which is 55.1 inches long. That is very small for a truck and it would struggle to fit lumber, ATVs or dirt bikes. The base model and smallest F-150 bed is 67.1 inches. Here's hoping Rivian will offer different bed sizes because I am otherwise in love with this truck.

Our family of five just installed 79 solar panels. Should produce 25KW of power. We’re working through the final inspections and county approval now, here in Colorado. We’re hopeful it’ll be enough power to run our entire household and two electric vehicles (we also are allowed up to 6 hrs of charging at work). Our commute is roughly an hour in each direction. Although we haven’t owned an EV yet, we are extremely excited at the prospect. Not sure when it’ll be in the budget for us, but Rivian is in the front runners. We love the design and it fits our active lifestyle! Best of luck Rivian. Hopefully we’ll see you in our solar panel roofed garage soon!

I'm in high tech manufacturing myself and I know the only way to get a quality product out the door is working as a team and trusting every discipline to hold up their end. I'm rooting hard for you guys. Hopefully an R1T is in my future!

@@markplott4820 but the Rivians will actually fit on a European road, and take corners in European towns appropriately. I find the CyberTruck to be an underwhelming project to be honest.
I'm a farmer - I need a reliable utility vehicle to get from field to field, I don't need a Mars Rover.
Tesla need to take the credit for finally getting the ball rolling on Electric Vehicles, but there's only the Model X that's been really desirable and the price of them is still extortionate.
@@banksarenotyourfriends - so will the Cybertruck when it Ships to the EU, it will be Sized for European Roads and offer SUPERIOR Spec for less money. and you can take it to a TESLA Service center or Mobile Rangers , not that there is MUCH to fix on a Cybertruck anyways.
Prices will be MORE Reasonable once GF4 Berlin is open. who knows , they could build the CT in Berlin too .
CT is a MORE Reliable Farm Truck than a Rivian and Built REAL TOUGH, not Fake Tough.

I have been enthusiastically following Rivian's journey for years now and I'm super excited to see tangible progress. I'm planning on revisiting this video and my comment in a couple of years - the day I will drive home a R1S =)

This venture is a credit to humanity. Just spent a couple of days there and I cannot even use the term morale for the team spirit that I witnessed. Absolute cohesion is probably closer to what I felt. This does not happen unless the team can feel certain about the leader's commitment to them and the world around them. Well done, RJ and team!
I am so pleased and so thrilled to see Rivian with a focus on sustainability and environmental awareness. I think a sustainably manufactured or eco conscious interior would be even more spectacular (similar to the Mazda MX-40 electric).
I have put of buying a car for the past 3 years simply because I didn’t want to fuel a apathetic car manufacturer but I can see RJ and the Rivian team are already leaps and bounds ahead of other automakers. Cannot wait for the R1T!

Great to see that Rivian is finally getting to actually producing their truck. I appreciate the attention to details and reducing production waste at all levels. These are all great developments that could start a greening war along EV manufacturers. With all the billions of USD invested in Rivian, it's about time all this happened. I guess it is better that later than never but it is indeed very late. People may wait for the Cybertruck at this point especially if the top level prices on these trucks if the top version is in the 100k price range. Tesla is the top dog, and they have a demonstrated knowhow that Rivian has yet to show.
@Rivian - When you finally open up your merchandise store, consider adding those Rivian monogrammed face masks to the product list. I'd buy one. Oh, and maybe offer them in the same colors as the exterior colors you will offer for the EAVs.
I really like both of these colors the gold is really cool and the blue is amazing! Can’t wait for the build tool to go live !
Why doesn't Rivian just pivot into a video production company since it seems that what they are most interested in is producing these videos.

I have seen both vehicles in person in Normal, they both looked like the build quality was very high. Hopefully, they can keep that quality up in their production vehicles. Definitely want to give one a test drive when I can.

Everyone keeps comparing the CyberTruck to the R1T. The real game separator for Rivian is the R1S. There is no real competition in that space. Tesla's offering have minimalist interiors. Coming from a Range Rover I want the environmentally friendly vehicle, with the creatures of comfort...and much better price point.
I like the fact that you use "ocean clean-up"-stuff to build those plastic containers - I like it a lot!!!

Ocean based products doesn’t mean from the ocean. Unless they are talking to Boyan Slat at The Ocean Clean Up , Rivian is not actually cleaning the oceans. They are sure that there will always be supply. They aren’t making that big of impact although I do appreciate what they are doing. They could do more.

More details on the environmental aspects of the vehicles and the process would be great to see. We're not looking for another car to be made, we're looking for something more responsible. Is the plant solar or wind powered?
WOW ! I can't wait until my Truck arrives next year - was wondering if there will actually be a color wheel to custom pick the color....or will the Truck just be offered in the 8 color options ? Also any ideas on when we can begin to look at & pick the interiors or accessories?

Tesla got to production almost at the point of bankruptcy. So for people to think anyone else can do it. I don’t believe that. But, Rivian seems to be in the best state possible. So I cheer them on.

I'm desperate to finally kick my ICE Ford Explorer to the curb and be able to shuttle the kids around in this.
The front lighting on the truck is the only thing I don't like about the design. I think it looks kind of gimmicky, but it's not a deal breaker. Overall, I love this truck and I'm definitely planning to purchase one, but not until a couple years into production.
I so want the first one of these in the UK.

Unfortunately, it's up to them how fast they work to set things up and start running.
Same time seeing how quickly the tesla china factory was built up and running was crazy. And look at how quickly china made massive hospitals.
To me, it's possible to do things a lot quicker, takes more will and money to do it as well as resources lining up.
For me, I want Rivian SUV and Tesla cyber truck I like both brands. The Rivian truck is nice just like the SUV more than the tesla X SUV for what I'm using it for.
Hope Rivian does vans for business use but makes them look better than the amazon ones they look ugly, the Mercedes V class van look is way better.
