    I really miss KPCS. I could easily watch 300 more of these things.

      I really don't understand why Kevin Pollak never is made part of the discussion in a meaningful way about the whole birth of what is now this incredibly mainstream and ubiquitous concept of podcasting. I don't think it should matter that they sort of do the show more with an eye toward the video version rather than just audio. The same damn thing is happening in between the start and the finish. You hear about Rogan of course, and Carolla, and especially Mark Maron (who I don't mean to take anything away from, I'm a huge fan of his), but KP started doing this at relatively the same time, in that 2009 area. like nevermind if you think it's proper to truly consider him one of the "godfathers" of podcasting, I'm not even saying that's definitely the case, but I just barely ever hear his name mentioned AT ALL when "the start of podcasting" is brought up.

    Wow I just discovered this. I used to watch Kevin Pollacks HBO Stand Up in like 92. I never knew he was a full blown Charlie Rose (in the good way).
    Makes complete sense given his persona, voice and demeanor. I love this deep dives he does with these guests

    A fun 2 hours. Very Informative and amusing. I've never seen E.L. that open, frank, and chatty in an interview. He usually seems like he'd rather be somewhere else but he offered up a lot of great insights and yarns. KP did a great job....Thanx

      I know your comment is like a decade old lol but I think the reason actors like EL and others are so open with Kevin is partly because he’s a fellow actor and knows this business. Doesn’t ask questions as an outsider. Plus he’s a damn good interviewer

    I agree with Larry David that Kevin has a rare skill for conducting these interviews. Informed, insightful, but not overbearing like a certain Charlie Rose I know ...

    Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara are absolutely brilliant in Schitt's Creek. The only thing I don't like is the title. And Eugene's son also has a bright, bright future.
    But I love all the SCTV alums.

    "Edmonton is a small town." Maybe compared to Toronto; but Edmonton has nearly a million people (900,000+), with a metropolitan area of 1,500,000. It's a large city.

    Years before his successful run with Schitt's Creek, was watching the first few years of SCTV last week and was so impressed with this guy, Eugene has a power sinker that is hard to hit, love this guy ... Now I'm on to episode #103 with that other SCTV hall of famer Dave Thomas, love that guy too. Joe Flaherty should have have a bigger career than he did, what's up with that ...?

    Eugene just proves once again, some of the best comic actors come from Canada. This is another great Kevin interview. I crack up every time he does Alan Arkin which for some reason, he improvs the funniest of the voices he does. Eugene and Catherine O'Hara are the best comedy team out there and have been for years. Their work with Chris Guest and SCTV kind of paves the way for the next gen. I met them both many years ago at the City TV Much Music party (when Much launched like 25 years ago or more). Most of the SCTV alum was at this party. When some of SCTV comic legends drink, they get even funnier if that's possible. Other fav KPCS interviews are John Landis #121, Chris Guest, all the SCTV related guests like this one, Dave Thomas, Harry Shearer, Rob Reiner - most of which show up in the list next to this message-----> also, I like the way Kevin delivers his line after wiping his forehead when he get's busted in the movie Usual Suspects. It's just sort of stupid funny knowing they are behind him as he works on this car.

    Startup episode talking about Osama Bin Laden is dead. We got bin Laden. I look down and see that it was posted 10 years ago. Thinking to myself what do you know it's been 10 years. Then the next thing they do is talk about Netflix and how you can have DVDs delivered to your house. And then I said yes it has definitely been 10 years.

    Eugene is funny when he's in character. He can't be as funny otherwise but he was incredibly funny on SCTV. I'm not a fan of his film work since he always plays the serious straight man for some reason. Think of his character in Splash- not funny, just straight and mad. He either has the worst agent or can't find scripts that suit his particular talent. Otherwise, virtually all his work on SCTV was great.

    • @rixvspinner
      @rixvspinner 9 років тому

      Club Paradise was hugely disappointing consindering the acting talent. Robin Williams couldn't save this incredibly poorly written film. Eugene played some city folk looking for weed with Rick Moranis. They are in Jamaica so they figure they will go look for weed. Not funny, just predictable filler. So what's your point? When has Eugene been truly funny in a film? what part? I don't blame Eugene since he didn't write these parts. Otherwise, his work on SCTV is legendary.

      Eugene has never been funny in films except for Waiting For Guffman. Playing dad parts like Steve Martin does is boring and unfunny.

    Why do so many people in the performing arts (film, television, live) feel compelled to describe others in their profession as "sweet, lovely, the kindest gentlest person who ever existed."
    Insert vomit here.

    • @ownpetard8379
      @ownpetard8379 8 років тому

      +ytugtbk Eugene was following the, 'Say nothing if you cannot say anything nice' approach. Notice that at the end where he said he didn't like others using the Guest/Levy concept - but were looking into the camera - he didn't ID who they were. So, avoiding the bad people, he gushed for anyone who was at least okay. After all, he has to work with them.
