Yah did Canada a solid. As soon as I see him I think of, and forgive me, John Candy and their comedy troupe, SCTV, which included Martin Short, Andre Martin, Catherine O'Hara, Rick Moranis, Dave Thomas, Joe Flaherty... who performed out of Edmonton, Canada.... hilarious and brilliant work.
Loved him since SCTV. So many memorable roles! Several comments mentioned American Pie. I watched Splash the other night again. He was hilarious as the comical villain who then took a turn & grew a heart. One of the best comic actors ever!
Oh yeah, that’s right! Off hand, since you recently saw the movie, do you happen to remember how many places he said his arm had been broken? It was something outrageous like 47 or something 🤔 now I am going to have to look it up lol 🤣
When will somebody have the courage to book Eugene Levy and Jeff Goldblum on the same show? Introduce them and then sit back for a duel of style, wit and storytelling . I think it would be amazing.
Eugene Levy deserves his star...he should've gotten it years ago. If they ever make a movie about Edgar Ulmer, the old-time B (and C and D and Z) movie director, Levy would be a natural lead. Ulmer was a go-your-own-way type, a character in his own right, and Levy, while not THAT offbeat, would be perfect.
That star took way too long my friend. We all knew that 40 years ago my God I'm old now, but you made my teenagers better than they would've been without you and the rest of the crew at second city. Thanks Hero.
LOL I live in Burlington. I remember them at the library doing that play. It was such a small space yet they did plays and had concerts there. Martin Short had a cottage up where ours was - so do Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell.
i feel like he's being his truest realest most authentic self here ... like he's being his actual self and not even trying to be funny... i love it... like his real self... like an uncle or grandad telling honest stories, Hollywood and all... happy i watched this
Lol, Eugene Levy's like, "uh-oh, my tribe's crying and upset, time to get out of here", lol. He's AWESOME. His comedic timing is unmatcheable, plus Jimmy's such a people person, it's just nice to watch this interaction.
While in college I worked at WFSU-TV, and my first assignment was to edit out all the black (for commercial breaks) from every episode of SCTV - on videotape! I got to see every show❣ Huge fan ever since. 🎉🎬🍸
One of my favorite people. I was about 13 or 14 when Splash came out and I remember his running joke threw out the film saying, "What a week I'm having!". I thought it was the funniest thing. And then a couple years later, Armed and Dangerous came out. I am still laughing at the scene in the adult book store with him and John Candy. 😂
And all the awesome movies, like “waiting for Guffman,” “for your consideration,”. A mighty wind,” “best in show,” And all of the movies that he did with Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, Harry Shearer, Catherine O’Hara, bob Balaban, John Michael Higgins, Don Lake, Jennifer Coolidge, Jane Lynch, Deborah Theaker, Larry Miller, Ed Begley Junior, And the late, great, Fred Willard !! I’d love to see another movie with that troop!!!.
Johnny Carson was a fan of SCTV and had Catherine O'Hara and Martin Short (and Celine Dion, too!) on for a chat. At different times. And the other guest on with Martin Short was Betty Davis! WOW! He also lived next door to my sister in Toronto. In the downtown. Eugene Levy also played "Alex Trebek" in the spoof version of Reach For The Top. It was the Canadian high school quiz show produced across Canada by the CBC. In the 1960s-1970s.
I hit that play not soon enough...because it's Eugene Levy. LOOOOVE that show. The only show I watch besides Morning Show that my paying APPLE TV monthly makes sense .
I've loved both Eugene & Marty since the 70s/80s when they were in SCTV. Both are from my hometown: Hamilton, Ontario Canada
Smells like eggs! 🤣😂🤣😂
As was another Canadian hero. Stan Rogers! And the hometown of Tim Horton's too!
Beer and back bacon too, eh?
@@michaelrmurphy2734 Stan Rogers was a true Canadian uber-talent and hero. Greetings from Barrie!
Me too!! Lived in Toronto for ~30 years, but right back where I started in the Hammer. Home of Marty Short!
Eugene Levy is pure class just like Martin Short. Talented and funny men.
I can only look at Eugene Levy and think of lovable Johnny Rose. What a great actor.
All I see is Bobby Bitman! HOW ARE YA?!
I like how humble he is and I am so happy that he is getting his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
Why didn't he invite Martin too his star ceremony?😊 do u know😊

SCTV was one of the best comedy shows of its time and an inspiration for SNL. Eugene is still comedic royalty. 😅😅😅
He and John Candy were hilarious as the Schmenge Brothers. "Hey, let's polka! Two, three, four. Cabbage rolls and coffee. Mm, mm, good!" Love him!
If he had done nothing but SCTV he would still be a titanic figure in comedy. One the most talented comedic actors of the last half century.
Earl Camembert....
Perry Como, still alive. 😂😂
Alex Trebel
His story of leaving the hotel is so very Canadian. Very polite, doesn't want to offend, just wants to leave, so he does.
What a year for Eugene. He was also just inducted into the Canadian Comedy Hall of Fame a couple of weeks ago.
I would have thought he'd be a long time member of that group.
@@moniespresso This was only the second year of it it. So he wasn't overlooked for long.
I kept waiting for Catherine O'Hara to barge in with dramatic concern over where Eugene's star actually is
Lmao she would love that idea 😂❤
i hope she sings oh, danny boy. lol
She's in New York filming with Marty. They're both using it as an excuse for not being on the guest list.
This man is 77 or 78 years old.
Amazing!!!!! What a wonderful man.
I waited for the second season of the Reluctant Traveler! So happy it's back. I love Eugene on that show. It's nostalgic just to look at him.
I picture Eugene with John Candy in SCTVs Doctor tongues house of stewardesses...an Oscar winning performance ...well deserved Mr Levy 😀
Loved him since SCTV. So many memorable roles! Several comments mentioned American Pie. I watched Splash the other night again. He was hilarious as the comical villain who then took a turn & grew a heart. One of the best comic actors ever!

lol, I decided I couldn’t wait and looked it up. His character, Walter Kornbluth, stated it was fractured in 16 places 😂
The Burlington Public library getting a shout-out! Hilarious.
I’ve loved his characters for decades, what a legend
When will somebody have the courage to book Eugene Levy and Jeff Goldblum on the same show?
Introduce them and then sit back for a duel of style, wit and storytelling . I think it would be amazing.
Bride of Boogedy was a stone-cold classic of my childhood. Levy as Mr Lynch knocked it out of the park.

❤❤❤❤❤❤ Can’t wait for season 4 of Only Murders in the Building!
Is Eugene in it as well? I'd love to see Blackpink in it. They know Selina Gomez!
Yes he is in it so is Molly Shannon@@michaelrmurphy2734
Would love to see Eugene in that show!
They performed at the Burlington Public Library🤯 That’s incredible.
The official eyebrow of Canada since 1976.
Eugene has been in the business for years but for me he will always be Jim’s dad in the American Pie movies lol
i was wondering if that was this guy bro🤣🤣😭😭
He's the guy who wanted to buy the house in Father of the Bride Part 2.
Me to too.
💝 Jim's dad!
Also, Stiffler’s dad in the goon.
Earl Camembert for me. I grew up watching SCTV.
That star took way too long my friend.
We all knew that 40 years ago my God I'm old now, but you made my teenagers better than they would've been without you and the rest of the crew at second city.

I'm also a big fan of Martin Short.
I'm hoping someday that Jiminy Glick can interview him.
I'll never forget him as the dad in American Pie.
A Canadian treasure right there. 🇨🇦👍

Love me some Eugene levy

Eugene, love you and your work.
What a comedic treasure!
He's my absolute favourite, and fellow Torontonian. Sid Dithers, Al Peck, Bruno... amazing.
another brilliant actor,he's amazing❤🎉🎉

So funny, thanks for the reminder!
Imagine being Eugene Levy and thinking people wouldn't immediately recognize him.
First time seeing Dan, i immediately thought, is he related to Eugene Levy?
Not that many people recognized him here in Canada before Schitt's Creek.
@waryaawariiri1812 So America Pie wasn't available in Canada? lolol
I have loved him since Splash!💙💙💙
I’ve loved him since SCTV - that whole cast was hysterical!
He’s wearing his “Order of Canada” pin.
The description of his family vacation sounds a little like the first show of Schitt's Creek when they arrive at the motel.
Likely it came from that!
One of my favorite comedic actors.:)
Seeing this made my day, he's the best. Schitts Creek, COME BACK😢❤😢❤
You make me giggle, Jimmy, love always from 🇨🇦❤😂👍
❤love Eugene - Been a fan for 45 years..

Best in Show! lol Need to watch it again soon.
The SCTV sketch "Perry Como, still alive" is still the funniest thing I've ever seen.
So many decades of laughs courtesy of Eugene. Bravo
His show would make it worth getting Apple TV !
Okay that star bit where Kimmel says he taps the person on the shoulder was actually the funniest thing I've heard him say in a long time lmao.
Eugene looks like a million bucks, wow! And the hair is incredible! Love you, Eugene
There's an old skit of him as Gino Vannelli, classic. Look it up.
SCTV was as good as SNL back in the day. You are one of the best Eugene!!!!
Canada loves ya
Long may you live Eugene, you are loved. CDN
as soon as I heard the words "musical version of Frankenstein" I heard the Edgar Winter classic in my head.
❤ from 🇨🇦, Burlington, Ontario!
I hit like before it started because... it's Eugene Levy!
I saw Gene do the Old Firehall Second City show back in the mid 70's ... great stuff that ended up on SCTV
Have loved me some EL since SCTV. Dry humor, humble, handsome and ALWAYS laced in sartorial crispness.
Johnny Carson was a fan of SCTV and had Catherine O'Hara and Martin Short (and Celine Dion, too!) on for a chat.

Canadian Icon 🇨🇦🇨🇦
Eugene is hilarious. My first exposure to him was in American Pie. I’m glad he’s doing well after all these years in show business.
lol Daniel walking into the hotel and crying. David rose walking into the Schitts creek motel in the first episode and crying.
First time I saw Eugene Levy was in Splash! Even in a costarring role, he was great!
Star or not, Eugene Levy will always be a star, a bright star.
I still associate him with sctv when it was produced at itv edmonton. Fantastic Tv.
Unintentional hilarity. Can’t wait for his new show. Congrats on the ⭐️
Love this Canadian actor❤❤❤❤
Levy’s are 🌟
😂 nobody is funnier, I couldn’t stop laughing
I hit that play not soon enough...because it's Eugene Levy. LOOOOVE that show. The only show I watch besides Morning Show that my paying APPLE TV monthly makes sense .
delightful man.
Love Eugene? Love Robin Williams? Rick Moranis?
Watch the movie Club Paradise.
Hilarious and sweet.
SCTV reruns
Barry! We scored!
@@kowalski5599 😂 Exactly!
It’s hilarious when they have to unload it b/c the small plane is too heavy.
With Andrea Martin too! The shower scene! HA-HA!!!
@@michaelrmurphy2734 “Randy, Randy!” 😂
Love that Eugene and Marty are just normal guy friends. 😂😂😂
I really enjoy Eugene’s travel show.
Wow I do feel old. I am 2 months older than Eugene Levy. I am a fan of Eugene Levy too.
Love Eugene!
Bobby Bitman..."How ahh ya!!!"
Thank you Jimmy Kimmel for your insights on D. Trump..
Club Paradise is my fav.
Love love love Eugene Levy!
He’s soooo cool
Love him and love his son even more!
Just love this guy
This guy has been consistently funny since the early 1970s.
He's up there with Mel Brooks, Danny Devito...
Such a good actor.
Eugene needs to fight Steve Martin for best friend to Marty Short status.
What a great interview!
Fantastic hair. Wow.
I think Levy is very handsome!😊❤
We love Eugene levy
I love the time he takes coming out, he commands attention
'HOW ARRRRR YAAHHHHH?!?!?!?!?!'
He is a treasure!
He's got Martin Scorsese eye brows
You’re right! He could play Scorsese in a movie if he could talk super fast!
Jim’s Dad looking awesome at hig age is perfectly natural.
Some people age really well. He is one of those.
Amazing hair.
Nicest guy in the biz
Great to hear from Eugene Levy - what can you say about him - love his movies/ tv series
American Pie FTW.
