Thanks Jason! I was pretty happy when he pulled it out of the box. I gladly paid 40 bucks for my 243 (no letter) when I found it in the antique shop a couple years ago so I was real excited to get this one for 20.
Ah ! love those old rusty crusty finds. I restored two of those vises and they came out great. My wife just smiles and shakes her head when I get one to restore. What are you going to do with it, you have several ? yeah I know but what's one more, and they are fun to restore. Happy 4th of July. My wife is about to take her test for citizenship and she knows more about the government than me. When I try to help her study, she says that's OK ken, I'm good. I think she is trying to max the test. I wouldn't be here today if it weren't for her, she is such a wonderful person. Take care...Ken
Hey Ken, I've got tons of vises but none that pivot up and down like this one so I will put it to good use. Tell your wife good luck with the test ... It sounds like she'll ace it! I know I would totally flunk it if I had to take it. Happy 4th of July to you too.
love collecting these stoves and lanterns when i find them for 10 or 15 dollars locally. usually its a little rubber part or seal that is bad and they fire right up.
Now I have to make a comment on this video because of that letter. I've been buying second-hand Coleman stuff at flea markets for quite a while. saw the stuff I use myself at the beach to cook up some good food. But mostly I buy that stuff to send to my girlfriend in the Philippines hahaha.
cool finds man. im still looking for the propane lantern in my garage. i have not forgotten.i sent you a pic of my grandfathers stove all put back together wiith your help with the leg. if ya didnt get it i will send another one. anyways i havent forgotten about what i promised ya. have fun with the family
I found myself a Maroon / nickel 242-B for $ 15 but can't find a date on it , it has a big nut on top and slits on the chimney for the carry handle , I did get it working after cleaning the generator . Does anyone know how to date it ?
Nice Coleman finds Shane. Can't believe you got that 243a with box for 20 bucks! I have seen those go for hundreds. Wish I had one!
