- This is an old Coleman 243A lantern from 1937 that I just picked up at the swap meet. I could hear stuff rattling around in the fount so before lighting it I took it completely apart, cleaned everything, put it all back together and fired it up.
Part 1 of 3
Part 2 - • Coleman 243A Lantern -...
Videos are very good and well explained
I’m really starting to like the Coleman lanterns I’m picking them up at all yard sales I see them you made a good video I will watching
Very nice 243 a I need one too. Thanks
I really like your channel. I’ve been a Colman collector for a bit now. I would like to add a Kerosene model. They seem to be the most expensive models I’ve found. Keep up the great work.
I just picked up a 237 , 11 - 1958 for $ 3.33 ( it was a in a group of 3 I found at a garage sale ) , with a nickel font ( fuel tank ) the globe is busted and the tip is missing from the generator other than some heavy dust it's in great shape , I have everything to bring it back to life ordered from eBay
@@fakenews7266 I just added two oil burners. I got a 639C this past Christmas and found my grail lantern. A Canadian made 237 made in 1949. It had a 220 red letter globe. I replaced the leather, generator, and fuel cap gasket. She is the best running lantern I have crazy enough. I ordered a replacement globe. (still looking for a green letter globe)
excellent work of a coleman community of Costa Rica
love the coleman videos
Thanks Adam!
Where have you been? No more videos?
i just rebuilt my 06/1946 242c last week. these tanks seem to hold less fuel than the 200a models. to me anyways. would you happen to have an idea how long a 243 or 242 will burn on a full tank? i cant find anything about that. i know a 200a will burn for about 7 hours, i got 4 of those from 1955 to 1976. also please don`t think i have forgotten about that propane lantern. im still digging around for it but i can only be out there for so long before a heat stroke kicks my butt. i should have bought that blue one like yours last week! didnt know they came in blue
I seem to recall they will burn for close to 6 hours on a tank but don't quote me on that. I used my 242 (no letter) up camping a couple weekends ago. Filled it up when I went to bed and it was still burning in the morning when I got up about 6 hrs later.
cool, thanks
are the mantels universal between all the lanterns
you would have to check on the bag the mantles come in, each bag will list what lantern`s they will fit. like a 242 or 200a will use #21 or peerless 24 , kerosene lanterns usually use bigger mantles. so the 242 ,220,228,200a 285,286,288 290,295 lanterns can all use #21 mantles and also propane lanterns use #21. i think that about covers it.
AWH pretty much covered it. There are a few charts out there that ya can find.
Here's one for the Coleman brand mantles.:

Here's one for Peerless:

I like the Peerless the best and tend to run a little larger one on my small single mantles.
