My biggest issue with the 8a is the $499 price. Pixel A series phones are known for their value and I just feel like if it had been $399 it would’ve been an excellent phone. Maybe $449 since Google often puts their phones on sale. I definitely like the 8a for the plastic matte back, flat camera bar and that sharp aloe color. I’m a huge Pixel fan but Google has to stop this trend of increasing the A series prices each year because it diminishes the value of them being budget phones.
@@rangerkayla8824 I agree $349 would be a fair price $399 at most. That way there’s a $300-350 difference between the 8 and the 8a. Making it an excellent budget Pixel. My guess is in a few months for the holidays it’ll drop to $399.
In the States, you can pick up an 8a for USD $200 if you stay on Google Fi for 120 days. I've been on Fi for 4 years now. The service is very good, and the coverage is great since Fi uses the T-Mobile network. It would be silly not to pick one up for $200.
Great Video dude, i'm from canada myself and got a pixel 8a .. still waiting on it, should get it by Sunday, Yeah you are right about how it is quite pricey for the pixel 8...its why i just got the pixeal 8a .... i owned the 4a and 6a in the past and love it .. i gave the 4a to m brother and the 6a to my mother and they both still use it.... I currently have a Iphone 14 and its a lovely device, but I use Linux a lot and what sucks about iphones is that it work mainly for macOS or Windows and on Linux you cant really sync music on it or anything I know of... I prefer a Pixel device aka android they can b e mount great on linux and also I just like it better.
In the UK the pixel 8 has been as low as 500 pound and the pixel 8a was released at 500 pound, however the contract deals are really good for the pixel 8a,for instance I got my pixel 8a for free with a twenty pound per month contract for 24 months with 100gb of data and unlimited minutes and texts, the sim only contract is 10 a month so the extra 10 a month works out at 240 for the pixel 8a,which is less than half retail and 240 is budget phone money. Then again you can buy a good condition used Samsung galaxy s22 ultra for 270 or a brand new Samsung A55 with Samsung buds FE for 260.It’s only iPhones that cost ridiculous amounts of money here in the UK.
lucky to have a 20 plus weather and calling it summer , here in India its 43 now and the summer peak is yet to arrive . phones heat as crazy be it any device!!
With Mint Mobile you can get an 8a and 12 months of service for less than $500 on their deals section! Depends on your area’s coverage but that’s a pretty decent deal!
I like your videos especially your honesty in the ' A Day in the life with x smartphone'. But to my taste the music in this vid is too load. It's come to a point where I have to decide to focus on the background music or your speaking. Nonetheless keep it up. Gonna head to your 'A Day in the life with the S24' now
I just got one this past week. Got people hating. But no it's not a flagship it's a really good phone! It's all about what you want out of a phone. To me. Pixel 8a is that other wanna be iPhone look and design. Software and hardware and battery is fire 🔥
I just hope there is a Pixel 9a with faster 20-27W charging (it would be the perfect Pixel), because the Pixel 8a makes the prospect of any future A-series devices look like a waste of resources for Google. I hope they don't end the A-series with this device and its measly 18W charging, which isn't going to age well for consumers in the long run. To be clear, I don't want the Pixel A series line to end, but the jump to a 120hz display feels like they skipped over an incremental update of faster charging.
I got the PIxel 8a a week ago, I love it. Here in Serbia, the price difference between 8 and 8a was a mere 50 euros. Still, I opted for this budget phone on purpose. I wanted to see how it performs. When it comes to people complaining, I think that people forget that premium phones are twice the price of Pixel 8a. When it comes to other competitors, nobody can match this much value in my experience, as the software definitely adds a massive value to it. I'll probably upgrade to the Pixel 10 pro in a couple of years, until then, I'll keep testing this phone. When you mention pricing in different markets, here, the Samsung Galaxy a55 is the same price as Pixel 8a. As someone who was using a54 from last year, which also cost the same amount of money, the Pixel experience is so much better right out of the box. The biggest benefit of owning a Pixel 8a at this price point is having an amazing camera (no other phone around $500 compares to it) + 7 years of support is a huge value, as this is going to be one of the devices that receive new Android versions regularly. On SoC side, you basically get the same experience from the premium lineup. Great review by the way, you now have one more subscriber :)
great u mentioned ur pov! a54/55 is a thing in Brazil RN based on it's economy. 😎 A very exhuberatant video ! Thanks for a real world perspective. I've got a Pixel 6a and will probably hold out for a black friday 9a [ do you Canadians really know what that means .. ? ie. the day after USA Columbus day ? 😛]. Cheers !
Coming from a Xiaomi user, I was so excited to finally get rid of Xiaomi (multiple reasons, most having to do with the OS), I am SO disappointed with the Pixel 8a. It's so expensive for what is 'offering'. The only things slightly better are the lack of bloatware, a bit faster, brighter screen and better camera(only in the dark and it's hit and miss, the Xiaomi camera is way way better during daytime, especially the selfie camera). I am annoyed everytime I pick up this awful phone. I'm annoyed I wasted so much hard earned money on this shit phone. Fuck Google, I'm never buying anything from them again. What a disappointment. And I don't even understand how so many people have good things to say about this phone, especially about the pictures, are they incapable of zooming in??? It's so pixelated and lacks detail.
I think you might be right about that! A week in and I'm kinda impressed by the battery on the Pixel 8a and it does seem to last longer than the Pixel 8 from memory! And yaaaa, especially on contract too that's another big point! Plus more expensive phones require bigger plans too so I should definitely say in that in my full review! Thanks for the input and watching! 😁
I really like that phone as I never had a curved screen device The only thing stopping me is the screen brightness Maybe I'll just grab it when the 9 drops just because
I was _so_ looking forward to upgrading from my 6a, which I love. I almost pre-ordered, as we have a really great Trade In deal, in the UK. However, I'm glad I didn't. I tried one last week, in a shop and found the corners to bulge/protrude out. Not only can you see this, but you can _feel_ it too and it's just weird. A case might make it look/feel even worse. And no, I'm not "hating" on it.......I do wish people wouldn't use that expression. It just doesn't appeal to me. So, I'm thinking of waiting (even though I'm not a fan of glass backs) for the 8 to drop in price and go for that instead.......and looking at the 9's that hideous looking Camera Island doesn't do it for me, either. So, it's either stick with the 6a, or go for the 8!
