INSIDE DRACULA'S CASTLE in Transylvania, Romania 🇷🇴This is Bran Castle.

- This week we take a day trip from Brașov, Romania to visit a couple of different popular attractions in Transylvania! Doing a day trip from Brașov is a must do while visiting Transylvania.
We start things off at the most popular castle in Romania, Bran Castle, otherwise known as Dracula’s Castle. The connection to Dracula is debatable. Some people claim that Bram Stoker designed Dracula’s Castle in his book after seeing a picture of Bran Castle. Other people claim that Vlad Tepes (Vlad the Impaler, or Vlad Dracula) was the person that Stoker modelled Dracula after - and he may or may not have spent some time at Bran Castle. While here we tour the inside and outside of the castle.
Next up we head to a nearby fortress on a hill called Râşnov Citadel or Râşnov Fortress, which is basically a fully walled fortress. It sits high on a hill so that it overlooks valleys and passages and played a big roll in the history of defence in this area. We explored the fortress and admired the amazing view.

For anyone new to the channel - stay tuned - we’ll be putting out more quarantine videos from the Philippines ASAP! ✌️- Anna & Trevor
Yes I did. 😍
I prefer this kind of blogs than those of the beaches, there's loads of it already. The castle in Budapest is worth visiting too, by the way. Haven't had the chance to read Dracula by B Stoker but I did read The Historian by E Kostova.
Lulu Holgado Anna actually re-read the Historian while we were there! - Trevor
Great video and the music you chose to accompany it was just perfect! Looks to be a great time of year to go.

Interesting information about Dracula. Amazing views. Beautiful music.
It’s such an interesting place and so easy to capture 👌- Anna
I went to Bran Castle and Brasov 3 weeks ago! The only difference was my tour went to Peles Castle instead of Rasnov. I was very lucky as the castles closed the next day due to Covid-19, and I was so happy I visited! The castles are beautiful and Brasov is gorgeous.
So glad you got in on the last day. We almost did that tour you mentioned as well. Maybe next time! - Trevor
Nice to see those places again! Thank you guys and stay safe!

Hello! Watching here from Bucharest.💖👼
But I am from Philippines.💖
Oh nice.. both of these series must be of interest to you - Trevor
When did you visit the castle? Usually it is extremelyyyy crowded and you can barely see anything. You’re very lucky. 😅😄😁
We visited it in November 😀 - Anna
This is the reason why I went to Romania as part of my Europe trip last year - to see Bran Castle! I'm a fan of the story. I also uploaded a vid to remind of this spooky trip 😁
Quite the spot right? We so loved this part of Romania. Thanks for watching - Anna
I wish I could go there one day 😀
Put it high on your travel list AE. Hopefully things get back to normal later this year and you can visit - Anna
Delightful Travellers Thanks Anna!
Absolute Escape Make sure to visit the castle when it’s not extremely crowded tho. Greetings from Romania!
De Doo I will! 😀 when is it though?
Absolute Escape Well, I guess it depends on time of the day and the weather, but usually castles and citadels here are rather crowded in the summertime.
Bram Stoker described this castle in his famous novel after he saw a picture of it. He also took the name Dracula from Vlad Dracul, Vlad Țepeș's father. I think he wanted to name his character just that vampire but then changed it to Dracula but never recognised he based his character on Vlad Țepeș. Dracula is a fictional character and to call Vlad Țepeș Dracula is just wrong. He's castle is Castle Poenari not this one. He was born in Sighișoara Citadel about 100 km from Bran.
Thanks for all the facts Lara. Hope some others read this 🤗- Anna
And Dracul comes from the latin draco meaning dragon. In Romanian it means the devil. Vlad was a member of the Dragon Order. There is an interesting book about this subject called from Vlad Țepeș to Dracula the vampire, it's written in Romanian by a famous historian Neagu Djuvara but it's translated in English too. I visited the castle for the second time and Râșnov too. I went to Sighișoara too but in 2010.
Beautiful enchanting place and I would love to live there! 🦇🎃😄🎃🦇
When Coppola wanted to make his Dracula movie in Romania in the 80s he got a big _no_ . But now there are as many Dracula castles as there are traveling agencies ;)
Thank You!
Glad you enjoyed the video Diana 🤗- Anna
very nice :)
Thank you! Cheers!
Hi from Ottawa 🖐
Hello Ottawa... we're from Halifax :) - Trevor
November is my travel time. Places are not crowded. That and the weather is cooler. 🙂
Fabulous!
Visited this castle way back and was impressed by the history of vlad the Impeller. I wont go into too much gory detail but he was a fearsome man that you didn't want to cross. The name impailer was indeed a nasty way to die.
Yeah he doesn't sound like the nicest fellow does he? 😲- Trevor

@@DelightfulTravellers Anna, I will be looking forward to it. You guys make lockdown days a little easier for me. Distant hugs.
This castle are very funny when are togheter with family or friends, nice edit have a good day if see this com =]
Very nice 👍👍👍👍🙏
Bram Stoker's great-grandson organized an expedition to the Călimani Mountains, where the author of the novel Dracula imagined that it was the castle of the dreaded vampire, according to the latest notes. The organizers mounted a plaque on Izvorul Peak.
The scenery is incredible.
Okay, can we talk about how narrow that staircase corridor was...I felt anxious just from your video of it. You two are brave
haha.. yeah that was very narrow. What a castle though Megan! - Trevor
shuttt up
@@DelightfulTravellers You have missed told people that was a secret corridor...
WOW....Cool & Creepy at the same time. It does look like Dracula might live in that castle. I was waiting for him to fly out of that foggy forest and bite your neck. Lol. Take Care From Bethlehem Pa The Christmas City.
oh if you we're there at night and heard the wolves howl that would be the full transylvanian experience, although, tbf to hear wolves you'd prolly need to be in the mountains.
Vlad the impaler ruled over Wallachia and not Transilvania. Awesome video, really enjoyed seeing again those places
so it was more like an ancient mall than a vampire lair, mind blown lol
wow, bravo, guys! yoou've managed to visit Rasnov! Before the virus. Why didn't you ask about the fontayne.
Yes we did ... so glad we visited all of Romania before the virus - Trevor
Vlad II Dracul, the father of Vlad III Dracul (Țepeș) was the founder of the Drăculeşti dynasty, which lasted until the 17th century.
The surname "Țepeș" is actually a nickname (given by the Turk’s) given to Vlad III Dracul(a) as a result of the method of stabbing used by him.
This nickname, it is associated with Vlad after his death, has remained in use to this day.
The name “Dracul (a)” comes from the Romanian ruler Vlad III Dracul (Țepeș); father of Vlad Țepeș (DRACULA), as a result of his belonging to the Order of the Dragon, an order of which his son later became a part.
The word "Draco" means "dragon" in Latin.
Vlad ”is the first name, worn both by Țepeș and by his father and“ Dracul ”represents his father's family name.
"The DRACU(LA) was his real name.
👍✨
Who's here after binge-watching Castlevania Season 3?
Should I be playing Castlevania? Or wait is it a show now? 😃- Trevor
@@DelightfulTravellers It's on Netflix, Castlevania Series. Interestingly Trevor is also a name of a character in Castlevania.
When were you actually there? I want to go there soon.
Late November. Make sure to visit around that time as you'll have the place to yourself like we did :) - Anna
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Creepy but beautiful.!
Can you turn the opening music down some?
What kind of device are you watching on? We've only had a few complaints about audio in the past and usually it's folks on a TV with a sound set. It could be your speakers - Trevor
@@DelightfulTravellers I'm using headset on a PC and the opening and ending music is way louder than the content. I have to mute it until you start to speak.
the connection between dracula and Vlad Tepes (also known to you as Vlad the Impaler because he impaled thieves and ottomans) is explained twice in this Romanian movie about Vlad Tepes' rule
ua-cam.com/video/VqbagKqtbAQ/v-deo.html
The points of interest are at 51:15 and 53:08 but you probably won't understand too much of those explanations if you don't know the context. That's why I highly recommend that you watch the entire movie... if you are interested in the real life and rule of Vlad the Impaler that is. The movie is bad quality, I know, but at the time of its making (1979) it's been a very well made movie, so you'll have to understand this aspect, too. Also, like with any other movie, it is also a bit biased and propagandistic in nature, but not too much. Overall, the movie depicts the events and life of Vlad the Impaler at the reign of Transilvania quite accurately, so you will understand his life better than from Stoker's book.
For us, Romanians, Vlad the Impaler (as much as I disapprove of his cruelty), has been a national hero because in a time when the biggest empires were all eager to take our lands and enslave us, in a time where the corruption and outlaws have been rampant a radical solution was needed. And the radical solution could have not come from a pansy, or from a weak ruler in general. This is where Vlad had come in and cleaned up the Romanian territory of scumbags, outlaws, thieves, and ottomans. Unfortunately, much like today, corruption had still been rampant and it's the one thing that Vlad could not stop (which is what has led to his decay), but for the short period of time in which we have been allowed to live in peace and fairness on our own lands we hold Vlad dearly to our hearts. Well, those who still feel Romanian blood running through their veins. The soulless, corrupt, traitors don't feel anything anymore. But they could still use a pointy stick stuck somewhere private :)
Totally Borat :-)
I would love to move a mattress up those staircases
OMG... ITS Ewww i waTch this. Scary
haha... beautifully scary right? - Trevor
WAAAYYY too creepy for me!! 😲 😲 👻 👻
haha... you'd love it John - Trevor
Never turn your back to Dracula's castle!
De ce? nu mâncați mâncare tradițională? din Romania?
Bran castle IS NOT Dracula's castle. Dracula's castle simply DOES NOT exist.
Törcsvári kastély, Castelul din Bran = NOTHING TO DO VITH Dracula !!!!!!
Who cares?
