Following your video as my Ryobi grinder has stopped working. I believe that that black box is the switch assembly part position 107 is faulty as when I shorted out it didn't start, but when you did it worked. Is that black box part position 107 - switch assembly. My trigger is bit sticky so going to order part 46 and 48. I have re greased the gear box. While I have it all apart I have given it a good clean. But I can't seem to get the motor back into the housing, the magnets are stopping me pushing in all the way back in. Any ideas how I can push the motor right back in? Any help or advice would be much appreciated please. Thanks kind regards 👍
Hi James The switch assembly is position 107 which is the black box with the two spade connectors. Have you checked continuity over the circuit? Can you measure 18v at the motor terminals? Also check the battery connectors incase they’re corroded and causing a volt drop or not working at all.I didn’t fully pull my motor out so I’m not sure about that, have you got any pictures? Let me know how you get on. Best of luck
Hi it sounds like the switch is shorted out (constantly on) can you measure the contacts of the switch with the battery out? Also check that the little plunger isn’t stuck in place as well . Let me know how you get on
Very good and straight forward video. Saved me a lot searching on the internet. Well Done Mate.
It was my switch, legend! Cheers

Mine is running when you release the button and switches off when you squeeze the button, completely backwards 😮
I would open the case and check the switch, it sounds like a none standard switch with normally closed contacts instead of normally open contacts
Did you find anything wrong with the gearbox?
The gearbox was fine it was full of grease, it was the locking nut that was rattling
What was the cost of the part? I've got the same fault
It was £9.29
