    I am still digging into Madness, the debut is fantastic and I am glad the discography of theirs had been a lot of influence and energy. One of the most underrated bands ever. I am looking forward to their later albums.

      One Step Beyond is fantastic, Madness grow as musicians and shong writers, and their output over the years is quite amazing. Cheers, matey. I hope all is well with you 👍

    ‘Missing You’ is a real stand out track for me on this album. It showed a glimpse of what madness were capable of musically back in 81. Woody gets a chance to break free on drums something that he rarely gets a chance to do on most albums and Marks bass is fantastic on this track.

      Cheers, Dave, their singles are brilliant, but there is so much more to Madness. It's a shame they've not recognised as much as they deserve. Enjoy pal 👍

    I’ve not listened to my sealed copy, yet.
    Has this new pressing got the Alternative mix of Mrs Hutchinson, where the xylophone plays at 25 seconds. And the difference mix of Day on the Town - as the initial original pressings had?
    Unfortunately, most LPs are just pressed from the digital remasters.

    • @StripeyR
      @StripeyR  Рік тому +2

      Alas, no mate, these versions of Mrs. Hutchinson & Day on the Town are the same as all the pressing bar the original.
      The original mixes have never been used since, they didn't even show up on the 2010 double CD by Union Square Music, shame, I love the xylophone on Mrs Hutchinson.

    A great album, not one duff track on it! Remember getting this as a kid on cassette (cassette of Absolutely was the first album I ever got). Always really liked Cardiac Arrest and never understood why it was never as much a big hit as the others.

      @StripeyR  Рік тому +1

      Couldn't agree more Shaun, Cardiac Arrest is a classic. It's a top album & glad to have the reissue.
      Cheers Pal

    • @ZeldaFitz
      @ZeldaFitz Рік тому +1

      Cardiac arrest was not played by radio 1 as it was considered in bad taste, hence its chart position of number 14, breaking madness’s run of top 10 hits. It was originally going to be called 7 Letters, shame they didn’t stick with that as it would have been top 10 for sure

    Every Madness album from OSB - Keep Moving was fantastic in my opinion, just look how far they had come in the five years from OSB to Keep Moving, You would think it was a completely different band. Every album during that period was different from the preceding release. I don’t include Mad Not Mad as that album will always have an Astris next to it owing to the absence of Mike.

    • @StripeyR
      @StripeyR  Рік тому

      Keep Moving is my next vinyl review, it's a fantastic record.
      I know what you mean about Mad Not Mad but I still do like it, but you could tell Mike was gone.
      Cheers, Zelda

    This is a very strange album in my opinion. It should be a great album but it just seems to full short in some way. This was a classic case of what was known back then as the difficult 3rd album, these days it’s called the difficult 2nd album for some reason, Anyway I’ll continue, the main problem with this album is the lack of production on it, there are at least 5 great songs on this album that could have been fantastic if only a bit more time and care had been spent at the sound desk, Mrs Hutchinson being a case in point. The disjointed nature to the album was mainly down to it being part recorded in the Bahamas and later finished off in London. All in all I do like the album it’s just a bit sparse sound wise. As a side I found Benny Bullfrog a little on the silly side, something madness done a bit too often, they certainly skated close to novelty act with songs like that at times.

    • @StripeyR
      @StripeyR  Рік тому +1

      I do understand your point but I love this album, it may be a little nostalgia tied to it, but playing it again took me way back to when. Some classics are on 7, Grey Day, Cardiac Arrest, Shut Up, Sign of the Times & When Dawn Arrives are just amazing. I agree with Benny Bullfrog, but it makes me smile tho.
      I really enjoyed reading your comment tho Zelda,
      Thank you
