In 1991 I was 13 and a professor of my school, had a 155 1800, brand new. I liked it immediatly so much. For more than a year I was trying to convice my father to buy one. Although he also liked it, he was always responding: " If we buy it, we must sell our old car"... a Fiat Ritmo 125 tc , something I didn' t want. So after 10 years , I bought myself a 33, later sold for a 75 1600, last one scrapped after an accident and replaced by a 75 1800 in 2010. But no155.... And the Ritmo is still in my garage! I wish good luck for the restoration!!
My first Alfa was a black widebody and I absolutely loved it. 6 Alfa's later I'd love to acquire another 155 one day. I'm going to enjoy watching this series. May the Alfa Gods smile down on you.
This is going to be fun to watch. It seems that Gabriele Tarquini really did wonders for the 155 up there in the UK, where I hear the car is quite well-regarded by enthusiasts. Here in Italy, no matter how much the 155 won on the racetrack, people didn't buy it. It sold half as much as the 75 that preceded it, and interest in the model remains low today. It was a much better car than people give it credit for, though.
@@NaNa-wj8tw Not so. The problem I think was partly looks and partly because it was seen as too much Fiat and not enough Alfa. Most cars are FWD so thats not what stops them selling. The Facelift looked a lot better, but came too late. If you think FWD is a problem then you never watched Gabrielle Tarquini in a 155.
Yes finally, I rememeber that since I've started watching your channel I was always looking at this 155 standing in the corner and wondering when will it get some love ... the day has finally come, can't wait for part 2. Keep up the great work Neil!
Can’t wait to see it finished. My first Alfa was an N reg red 155 2.0TS 16v - the car that in many ways gave me the most pleasure and wish I still had. Brilliant engine. Red the best colour.
Great to see this coming back to life Neil! You did a great job on my V6 but I’ve always missed the 2.0TS I owned nearly 25 years ago! If you fancy selling this after it’s finished please give me a shout👌🏽 ZC
Really looking forward to this one. Good friend of mine bought an almost identical one back in 2008. Drove back from London to Wales with no 2nd or 4th. Great fun.
love seeing this project and I know it's probably "not done" but you could fit a 3.0 V6 Busso if you have one lying around.... sure it would be a straight fit but I have only seen them with a 2.5 V6....
Loving this! I have a very clean 97 155 v6 in red and looking to do some work on it myself. So glad to see a 155 resto video. Great job! Enjoy... Liked and subscribed
I reckon that doesn’t even need a repaint. 1 day with a machine polisher and it’d be grand. I’ve had some success removing paint like that satin black with careful wet sanding.
Hi the Vacancy seems to be holding up well on the rear cross member of my wheel's of steel after a year. But there's another product I have bought but haven't tried yet for rust prevention called Lanoguard that's made from sheep's it's self healing and uses lanolin which I believe makes sheep waterproof. Just a heads up Incase you haven't heard of it as it could be worth a go but apparently has to be applied yearly.
They have been going up quite nicely for about 4 years now, at least on mainland Europe. A nice and tidy 2.0 16v has gone up from about 2500-3500 euro to about 5000-7000 euro in that time, I would estimate. Rock bottom for these is quite some years ago. You could get a pretty nice 2.0 16v for about 1500-2000 euro's back then.

Just want to say thank you for saving the 155, look forward to seeing the end result!

Probably the Front Wheel Drive?
@@NaNa-wj8twdoubtful given the Alfasud's ground breaking handling.

That's interesting 🤔 Good to hear from you anyway👍
I looooooove these! Great to see one being restored. Good luck Neil
I think we have all been waiting for this one to be done!
This will get my attention. Bringing back these old Italian ladies back to life!
This is the car I’ve wanted to see finished for god knows how long !!!! The best looking British touring car on the grid back in the day
That car (the widebody 155) is the sexyest modern Alfa in my eyes. It just looks like it means business...
Can’t wait to see this brought back to life 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Looking forward to how this progresses. Great bodywork for such a classic
Yes, yes! 155! Not an easy shape for bodywork because of the relativly flat panels. But I sure this is gonna be gorgeous!
Been waiting for this , seeing it sitting in the background !
Can't wait to see her finished.
This is going to be one hell of a project! Can't wait to see it's progress.
Rear glass is gonna really love grinder sparks hitting it
+1
my Grandpa had one of those in red and I remember driving around with in the passenger seat, so cool. And my dad had a black 164, 6 cylinder

Hi Neil I'm so pleased to see the 155 getting loads of love I would love to see the 2 litre gone and a V6 back in best of luck with it
Excellent, looking forward to the series. Just love 155's.
Great content
Had one of these and loved it! Looking forward to your final result! Keep up the good work. Greets from the Netherlands
Thanks for watching
Been waiting a very long time on this video. Had so much good memories with my champagne Alfa 155. Thanks Neil
Been waiting for this well done
Well done neil and keep going. It is going to look gorgeous at the end of the project.

I bought one of those electric 3/8” ratchets after seeing you using yours, Neil. Love it.
I'm on my 7the one. Love em
Neil, give me a shout on the mirror brackets. I print the parts and rebuild them for 155s (a niche market, I know 😮)
Looking forward too the next part!
Lot of progress already. Very excited about this project!
Really looking forward to this one. Good friend of mine bought an almost identical one back in 2008. Drove back from London to Wales with no 2nd or 4th. Great fun.
finally the 155 😍😍😍
Love these cars, really looking forward to how this comes up.
Excellent Neil be nice when the refurbishment is complete…
Painted it today.
Hi Neil, Is that car P982 UOU? If so I’ll be watching with great interest….my wife had it back in the day, second owner from new!
I flippin love these cars, can't wait to see the rest
I had an 8 valve J reg with stacked rear wing. So looking forward to this.
Great video, lots of progress which is what I like to see.
Absaloutly brilliant video neil ❤👍 she'll look amazing when finished brilliant
Enjoyed the first part. Looking forward too the next

I am so looking forward to this new series😊
Thank yuu Neil 💪
1:37 The spoiler is from a 33!
OR!!! (because it is the same)
From a Silversone, only lacking the things to make it higher
I reckon that doesn’t even need a repaint. 1 day with a machine polisher and it’d be grand.

i do not now if you now or same body tell you. but if you put a pies of coper under the hols(or teak alo) it will help to hold the welding. :~)
Yeah that will help. Thanks
I've been waiting for this one. Love those 155s
What a car it will be!
roll on part 2
You definitely don't make it easy for yourself, Punto nearly done and starting on the next project as well as working Neil.

Vactan not vacancy lol😅
oh yess loving this one
Nice one mate. Wasn't the 155 the last rear wheel Alfa for years to come but with the then modern twin spark engine?
No front wheel drive
Good to see you back , how is the punto?
Just a few bits to do on body and still got to strip engine down
Great 👍🏼 #alfa #youtube
Finally the 55 again. Im curious how it will look in the End :-) Regards from DTM LAND!
Do you think they will go up in value at some stage?
They have been going up quite nicely for about 4 years now, at least on mainland Europe.

Woo finally 👌💯
Yeah it's only been 8 years
It will be amazing when painted
Sure will
Lookin forward to this one!
Can you show the spoiler holes in the boot
That will be shown in a future video
How do you break off both wing mirrors??
Unicorn 🦄 😂 Can't remember when I saw one on the road
Why not sand it back to metal rather than leaving most of old paint on?
Do you think the 2 stage intake from the 156 engines gives good best in low end torque?
No idea really
Cannot understand why you did not cover your rear screen before welding and grinding onto it??
sweet neil !
Brilliant
That must be one of the most rust free 155s in there.
Why did you put filler straight on that weld? Are you not scared it will rust right away?
Filler bonds better to metal.
❤
grinding sparks all over the rear window........
And
ruined it
