Pommecythere is one of many unique and special Caribbean fruit- very sweet and addictive when ripe, and makes a superb chutney when half-ripe (doubles anyone? 😍) Chow is indeed a common feature when ‘liming’, it is a seasoned, peppered 🌶️🔥, fresh fruit salad- the most popular choice is mango, but actually any fruit or complimentary fruit combo can be used, and there is a cucumber version made as well, and is normally eaten at the front-end like an appetizer Pimento pepper was actually used a lot in this video but not explained enough; it is just as important as the ‘green seasoning’ for prepping Trini dishes. This pepper can safely be eaten raw because there is no heat (we have other peppers for that), but it is packed with immense flavor instead
@ Trini Skunt-Troll you are right, the preparing of the food was not explained enough. I made the same comment and people are getting offended. LoL, Mark Weins has an international audience as well.
On this day you've earned a subscriber Mark...Cannot ask for a better show casing of our traditional cuisine, landscapes and just overal ambience through your videography. Thanks again Mark

Mark will be back and not only because of the amazing food- he knows he has been to paradise 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
Not only the food, the warmth and welcoming aspect of the people around him on this journey, you could clearly hear the joy in his laughter for the way they speak, the easy joking way.
@@jadea.2694 absolutely! 💯 👍🏼
I loved the way the series portrayed our twin island and people in it's raw natural beauty instead of the usual commercialized polished front..truly brought back familial feeling of nostalgia... we need a part two 🤗 of Mark Weins for Christmas!! much love to everyone and well done @FoodieNation
From how they prepared all the foods and drinks ...for sure ,taste like heaven.another amazing experience you had in there, sir mark weins...and i'm glad,i'm able to see that beautiful place and people in Trinidad and Tobago.
@@POPCORN_BRAWL our island not that beautiful tbh I doh see what foreigners see
@@trini2DBone134 Calm down lol trinidad isn't perfect but it's undeniably beautiful. Take some pride.
@@trini2DBone134 most Trinis don't migrate, and so it's not easy for us to see the beauty that our country has because we take it for granted.
I moved from Trinidad some years ago, and you have no idea how I miss our culture
@@trini2DBone134 Flora and Fauna unparalleled in the region; best grade cocoa in the world; best KFC; diversity of people; creativity in arts and entertainment and sports on a world stage; etc. etc. etc. The National Song/ The National Anthem/ Wealth and Brilliance coupled with light hearted out going nature... where did you say you were from again?
Hey Mark. It was such a pleasure working with you and having you here to help us showcase these gems to the world. You truly brought our culture to life. Like you said, the way to experience Trinidad is to taste your way through Trinidad. Looking forward to more videos! - Carla Cupid, CEO Visit Trinidad/Tourism Trinidad Limited.

Beautiful sceneries. The coconut bake, cocoa 🍵, chow. Calabash bowl, so authentic. All food prepared looks so good! Missing Trinidad 🇹🇹
Finally a actual review of what Trinidad and Tobago food culture is about …. 😢it’s goes beyond the street food
Right!!!
Yes facts wanted to comment but the last time I was called a racist for stating the obvious.
@@keronbrooksjoseph61 me too when I look at other reviews it seems like Trinidad only does street food AKA doubles and roti.
Goes beyond doubles.
Trinidad is amazing. Fresh fruits kind people.
Seriously, one of my favorite episodes that you've done in awhile Mark! You really captured the landscape during this adventure, and the mountain spices and herbs looks so dang fresh... Gotta love that dancing at the end too 🤣
🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹Foodie Nation , Uncle Clyde , Mark & Guests 4 An Amazing Presentation Just Fabulous 😍

Really appreciate it, thank you!
Awesome video! Roucou is called annatto or achiote in other cultures and the bay leaves used here are also called ciliment leaves. They come from the pimenta racemosa, West Indian bay leaf or bay rum tree.
Uncle Clyde, he is such an amazing man. Food, so colorful, the tea drink seems so aromatic. Hey Mark is Aunty Dolly accompanying you. I heard her beautiful accent in the back but you didn’t show her in this episode. Trinidad is so green and luscious. Everything is cooked and prepped from scratch. So much variety of food. Uncle Clyde’s vegetable farm looks so well cared. Coconut bread came out so good. People are so hospitable. Btw nice hair cut Mark.
Coconut bake look soooo good
Thank you very much Bas, Uncle Clyde is so cool. No, Aunty Doll wasn't with us this day!

Mark I have been watching your videos for almost 4 years now. Every video is the perfect balance of culture, food, kindness, excitement and it's sheer amazement from yourself. I love watching your videos and learning all about the different places and ingredients that different cultures use.
I can't help but notice that Trinidad looks so clean and well looked after.
The untouched parts of the island is beautiful.
HA
It's relatively wealthy compared to the rest of the Caribbean.
Oh boy. If only you knew😂. The natural parts of Trinidad are amazing. The rest err not so much.
@@keziarampaul2453 90% of the country's landscape and people is amazing. 95% of our politicians are sh*ty. The city is like every other city in the world...No other Caribbean island could compare to TT.
As a Trini who has lived in England for almost 30 years, watching this brings so much joy to my heart. I only discovered this channel yesterday and have been watching all of the videos in this series. It makes me proud, homesick, hungry and everything else in between. I can’t wait for my next trip. Trini to de bone!
Love in the house...🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹.....the whole of Trinidad and Tobago probably watching these videos mark you're now a Trinbagonian...
yuh very correct
One love to 🇹🇹 from 🇯🇲,,
Pommecythere is one of many unique and special Caribbean fruit- very sweet and addictive when ripe, and makes a superb chutney when half-ripe (doubles anyone? 😍)
Chow is indeed a common feature when ‘liming’, it is a seasoned, peppered 🌶️🔥, fresh fruit salad- the most popular choice is mango, but actually any fruit or complimentary fruit combo can be used, and there is a cucumber version made as well, and is normally eaten at the front-end like an appetizer
Pimento pepper was actually used a lot in this video but not explained enough; it is just as important as the ‘green seasoning’ for prepping Trini dishes. This pepper can safely be eaten raw because there is no heat (we have other peppers for that), but it is packed with immense flavor instead
So true ! You can make chow with anything you got your hands on ! Always a chow in every lime . I miss my plum chow so bad !
You can definitely tell that Uncle has done this more than a few times. He is a master cook.
Yes he is
The unique thing about Trini food is that it is well seasoned before and while cooking. Then you eat.
Food from a lot of other countries are seasoned after cooking while you're eating it !!

Hi Mark!
I have been following your channel since I got interested in becoming an active UA-camr who specializes in cooking. My son recommended your channel to me and I have been hooked ever since! You are an inspiration to so many in this domain across the world. Wish you the very best!
From India,

Love Trinidad!! loved Auntie Julia's breakfast. The brown luscious coconut bread. The salt fish tomato stew! The cocoa tea!!! Then Uncle Clyde's Sunday lunch. No wonder you don't have a store! The luscious green mountainsides. Maybe a fish and butcher shop but that's it. So much fruit as well. His Pork Stew. Tom Tom made with plantains, his macaroni pie with lots of cheese!!! The coffee and tea then ending with the chow!!! Mark you and your foodie nation friends had a wonderful homemade dining experience. Most hospitable, and happy people.
On we have stores! T&T is actually very modern and industrialised but the people appreciate their roots and still eat traditionally but not necessarily on a daily basis. For example people may buy their coconut bake from a bakery as opposed to baking it themselves.
Wow I love my country TNT 🇹🇹 the food is everything, the vibes, the island life! My mouth is watering
Im just amazed that he eats everything ....even the seasoning ...love this
