TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO - One of the favorite food pastimes in Trinidad is to go to the river and have what’s called a “river lime,” where you hang out with friends and family, cook some delicious food, and enjoy nature all at the same time. Today we’re heading to Caura River, where Kev is going to cook up some delicious curry goat!
Big thank you to #visitTrinidad for inviting me to Trinidad and Tobago and for making this trip happen! Guide to the things and food in this video: visittrinidad....

Lester Nanan: Nanan Caroni Bird Sanctuary Tours
We drove out to Caura River to first have our river lime. Kev was already busy in the setup tent kitchen along the riverside. On the menu, the main event was the Trinidadian curry goat, but we also had chana and potatoes, and curry duck. What I love so much about the Trinidad and Tobago curries are the layers of flavor - from the curry powder to the onions and garlic, to all the green seasoning like shadow beni and green onions and thyme. The recipes are amazing. We had an amazing feast, and I especially loved the curry goat and curry duck!
Nanan's Caroni Bird Sanctuary Tours - Next in the afternoon we headed out to Nanan's Caroni Bird Sanctuary Tours for a boat tour and dinner at the amazing bird sanctuary, where scarlet ibis roost for. It was an amazing experience, and even better because we had dinner on the boat!
And that completes another amazing day of food and sightseeing in Trinidad, food and nature at its best!

I so agree Mark has done us justice with showing our culture to the world 🌎 we thank you Mark
I'm Jamaican living in the states but in my opinion this is 1 of the best tour mark as ever experienced, from the urban,to the rural to the wild life on the river to the exquisite cuisine on the boat, WONDERFUL, I'm gonna visit soon day ppl r so warm and frindly
Seeing Trinidad & Tobago for the first time through Mark's food vlog ! The island looks very green that grows fruits and vegetables of various kinds. And they ( the people) have a unique way of cooking their food -not too spicy and not less spicy and looks delicious and healthy. Thank you for introducing this lovely country and nice people to your audience.
I am from Trinidad and Tobago
I gotta say mark. Trinidad has THE best food in the world. Simply because of the cultural blend that happened there through history on top of the fact that tourism food didn’t ruin us. We are just now in 2022 showing the world our food. Most people I know never even heard of Trinidad before. Thank you for coming here
To anyone that is visiting Trinidad and Tobago, just know that a river lime is a must do, when you are here.
Too much noise though
@@rishijai there are quite spots, to escape that.
The key to Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹 cuisine is that green seasoning. Every Trinidad 🇹🇹 dish starts with green seasoning. Chief seasoning is the best. 🇹🇹 West Indian cuisine is the best in all of the Caribbean. Trinidad 🇹🇹 Lime is a family must. Don’t forget about the spirit rum. Mark has even started talking like a Trinidadian. Kevin is an awesome cook. Kevin put out a cooking book for us that live abroad. Mark you have to try curry cascadura, iguana and Stewed Agouti. Mark thank you for displaying my heritage for everyone in such a wonderful manner. Our people are so inviting, social, hospitable and extremely loving. You have to experience carnival, football or cricket match Trinidad 🇹🇹 style. World Cup starts this weekend. The entire country will shut down for the greatest sporting spectacle.
This was a lot of fun. I’ve known a lot of people from TT but it’s not promoted as a tourist destination. It’s so beautiful and I love the people ❤
Trinidad is more industrialized! Oil gas petroleum products asphalt etc etc . Tobago is the tourism spot.
The reason being that out economy was based mainly on petroleum and natural gas found in the south of the island.
Two wonderful places to visit... kudos to Zaak and the team for taking Mark around our beautiful country 🇹🇹
What a special place and combination of the best of many cultures
After seeing Mark without a shirt, and taking into account how much delicious food he eats, I can honestly say I'm truly jealous of his incredibly efficient calorie burning metabolism. Good on him.
The Mark Wiens comment that replied under here is a fake account. Please be careful.
Nice move to take Mark to Caura River. Please note how caura became famous on a Monday, business people who usually works on weekends saturday and Sunday used to take their day off on a Monday hence the popularity. But it's always a best lime every day in Caura....
Is the best seasoning food and meats 🇹🇹 🇹🇹 🇹🇹
Seriously, all of the food you've shown from this place so far has looked so dang fresh, and humming with flavor and spices... so impressive. It's unfair Mark! 🙂
You should come visit us 🇹🇹

Mark Weins the pepper King 🤴 glad you enjoyed all our foods 🇹🇹 🇹🇹
The food here seems to have a big Indian influence. It's nice to see they have their own twist to all their meals.
Looks like a lot of fun and so beautiful, the birds do look like flowers in trees I didn't realize the big Indian influence in Trinidad
Appreciate your comment! And yes, there's heavy Indian influence here as our population comprises approximately 35% persons of East Indian descent & 34% persons of African descent

Some curried cascadura, stuffed with fresh pigeon peas, along with any other fish caught in the Caroni swamp would have complimented the boat ride.

I en never see no foreigner handle pepper like this man 😂. Mark was pouring that peppa sauce like salad dressing on his food !
The Caribbean is so beautiful! Wonderful to see different styles of curries being made half way across the world from India 😊
I could eat this style of curri everyday. Some others are way too strong and over-powering.
it's beautiful and the food looks so good
Half of Trinidad are Indians.
It was truly an honor and surreal moment that I made my famous chowaddicts chow for you, Mark. Many thanks to Visit Trinidad for this awesome opportunity. Mark, I am happy you enjoyed it and your experience in Trinidad.

Excellent video Mark 🎉 and it was such a pleasure to spend your last evening in Trinidad 🇹🇹 with you. You did a fantastic job highlighting our home and we would welcome you back with open arms. Many blessings and much success for the future!!!

Yes, you do a great job as well Alan, always promoting our country, yrs to eco tourism.
Hey Alan. I follow you on Instagram and I found your work exceptional. I am enjoying your series on Jamaica. Man I'm Portuguese and our cuisine is unreal...I see so many similar ingredients in our food and yours. But then there's some stuff you guys do that blows my mind! Curry goat, Jerk chicken, roti etc. Salt fish we also do in Portugal. Unfortunately, I live in Melbourne now, and I can't get hold of Portuguese or Caribbean food lol
This is why Mark is my favourite food blogger. He doesn't just eat the food, he dives deep into the culture with an open mind.

We appreciate the fact that Mark goes far and beyond in terms of Trinidad & Tobago cuisine. They're all uniquely exotic. Seems like the people in Trinidad & Tobago invest so much effort into cooking all the meals they have prepared for their guests. We all hope to see them attain further contentment and success along the way.
It’s all Indian food…these are all people who migrated from INDIA centuries ago
@@VARUNRV007 it is actually a mixture of cultures in the cooking, with a heavy emphssis on Indian cooking. Welcome to T'n'T!
