Just hearing Rob going nuts about Jonathan Hickman's X-Men Inferno run makes it all the worthwhile listening to his commentary about the story and given his own opinions as well as a little bit of back history to the characters is definitely enjoyable.
I've read most of the stories before I watch these vids, some of them many times before and after, but I will never get tired of the great content Rob blesses us with.

I love how this story is like real politics and Mystique is whipping up votes for a bill essentially, and everyone is being petty. That's how it goes. It's like a good episode of House of Cards or something.

I like characters getting some more respect on their names. Bishop gets a promotion and so does Colossus. I wonder if Miora's power is body hopping than resurrection. Since she's lived the lives of other stories and whatnot which would make them alternate realities/futures. I don't see why she had a limited # of lives either. Guess we'll see how this works out now that Destiny is moving some chess pieces.
It's weird how specific it can get sometimes, like the guy that can explode just once or the little girl in house of m who had the power to remember cause reasons
Destiny is born before Moira, and her powers develop before Moira's. The threat was to kill Moira before she awakens to her past selves if I remember correctly.
I don’t think the limitation is on the power itself but that after 10 lives, someone will kill Moira when her powers are nullified or not working. Like if someone gives her the mutant cure then kills her, she won’t revive.
she doesn't have a limited number of lives. If shes killed before he powers can develop after rebirth though, the rebirth cycle no longer has a chance to activate. Same as if there were no humans, no one to rebirth her. Finding her in a new body before she has her powers awaken though would normally be tricky, but not for an immortal precog
Its not technically even resurrection its like retconing she relives her life entirely and remembers the past ones and since its always her it doesn't make sense to say its body hoping

Dude I was in my living room with my little sister watching tv. I was probably grinning like a loon from the start of the issue, but when Colossus was revealed I definitely let out a loud “Oh s**t!” Hickman is wild man.
I found and subscribed to this channel about 8 days ago. And I have been having an absolute blast binge watching the hell out of this content. Rob, you are truly a joy to listen to! 💙💙💙

Colossus is a good pick for his level headedness the writers go out of their way to brake and twist him; after what his interaction with Domino I heavy agree with his come up. The secret of the quiet council was necessary not for Mora's paranoia to be guarded; but the internal interest of everyone involved leaders and citizens frailties are real character traits. All of them are counter productive; the benefit of Orcus is their together on functionality; Mystique and Destiny are leaving themselves with old ties not the new ones you would think they should support.
He's actually a terrible pick, his brother has complete control of him like a mutant version of the Manchurian Candidate, if you've been following X Force. You might say this is a spoiler, how ever if you're following Hickman's X Men and you know how Hickman works then you better be reading all of the current X Men books anyway.
When Colossus showed up, I realized the genius approach. Hickman made some last min adjustments. The timeline of the books seem extremely out of place, but he’s redactions are occurring in panel instead of data pages 👀
Thus the irony: Those who see themselves as superior or evolved beyond mere humans are as petty, judgemental, aviricious and base as any bog standard human throughout the rest of the world.

They simply pretended it never happened which is why they never learn, grow, or even truly evolve, because they believed they were born better. They tried to create a perfect world that was more of a good looking fantasy because of the ugliness deep inside, and even Beast and Brand have done horrible things, while it was expected when it came to Shaw and Shadow King. Krakoa was doomed because of greed, ignorance and arrogance.

I wonder if Hickman sees his X-Men trilogy as a kind of reverse tribute to Dante's Divine Comedy trilogy. Reverse in that he starts with the paradise book and ends it with inferno. And instead of being obsessed with the number 7, it's the number 10 that he uses for everything. 10 swords, 10 past lives....
Personally I think Sinister didn't like the way he looked because Sinister's facial hair used to be identical to what Colossus has, and frankly, Colossus looks better.
The return of Colossus is hype did not see that coming and the only good thing to happen for Charles and magneto so good for them lol but I gotta say the X-men stories have been nuts and the just keep getting better I can’t wait to see how this all ends

If Mystique told Shaw that Emma for a fact will vote against and so Shaw votes yes why didn’t he change his mind when Emma voted yes too? If his reason was only to vote contrary to her out of spite?
Yeah that was a bit of a wishy washy writing, how could have Mystique been so sure that Emma wasn't gonna cast her vote before Shawn? She should have at least insisted on Shaw voting before Emma, she kind of just let it happen and hoped for the best. For all she knows, Emma could have been the first to speak out and vote. Now I don't think that Shaw cares much about Destiny being on the council or not, but surely he feels like Mystique has made a fool out of him and I don't think he's gonna appreciate that, being as petty as he is.
I thought it was weird for Shaw to go against Emma. After all, in Marauders he said they were on good terms. Maybe that was a lie and he resents her for lying about Lourdes' death.
Love Colossus but can’t help but wonder what would have happened if Moira came to the council and they would have let it all out on the table by Xavier showing all her lives and coming clean about the motivation of Krakoa smart play as they would get rid of the leverage but could definitely see how it would rip apart the council.

Moira is like the Helicopter Mom on Crack. She yells at them like they are Children and just need to do what they are told because its what is "best for them", AKA what is best for her. She is planning to wipe them all out like she had been trying to do before Destiny stopped her. She wants Destiny out of the way because she will stop her for good this time.
I mean if Mystique and Destiny burn down Krakoa wouldn't they be making a TON of enemies, don't see how the rest of the Mutant's won't want revenge for destroying the Mutant safe space.
Only way I see this Krakoan era moving forward is Moira and Destiny working together. Why wouldn’t they? The only reason Destiny threatened her was because she was working on a “cure”. Makes me wonder….either Moira made the cure again this life while Destiny was dead…..or there’s something in the Diaries that we don’t know…or BOTH 👀
Likely way off base here but for some reason I feel like Moira herself is the one to burn down krakoa. The fear of destiny killing her permanently leads to a "well if I die I'm taking this whole thing down" mentality.

I've been thinking about this issue & it gives us a few hints for what is to come. Nimrod will definitely arrive on the island and Nimrod will kill mutants and the Island (or some of the island) will catch fire. But what I also think will happen is while Nimrod is on Krakoa Mystique will finish the job that she started but ended up dying in X-Men 20. Mystique found out that the humans are teleporting directly from earth to the Orchis Forge(I think). Mystique with a bomb (maybe a similar device that Forge created for her) will teleport it to the space station and blow it up. Nimrod will of course be unsuccessful in destroying Krakoa, Nimrod will be stopped by Krokoa itself or by the secret item in the box given to Emma or both. I do think as well that Destiny will be killed, possibly by Colossus. And because the last of Destiny's DNA was used to bring her back there will be no way of resurrecting Destiny again, it will be a similar fate for Mystique that Dr Alia Gregor had when she brought back her husband & immediately lost him again. Karma's a b!tch. I have no idea what Omega Sentinel is hiding, my guess is that Moira is leaking information to Omega. Also Moira may have developed a "cure" for mutants that she was killed for in life 3. Moira will be killed but not before confronting Destiny.
Since Inferno is running physically concurrently but temporally after all the regular X-Titles, I wonder if Colossus is still being controlled by the chronicler or if he’s been cured. We’ll have to wait and see. Haha, I guess these mysteries are a benefit of concurrent titles.
My only question is, does this issue take place before or after Xavier visits Peter at his home? Maybe Xavier fixed him or maybe Peter is still being used as a mole for his brother, Mikhail.
5:45 - Rob, your analogy about not reading comics for like 15 years... That's pretty much my exact case, though it's more like 20 😳 It's only the past few years that I've been getting back into comics, and really only since covid started that I've gotten hardcore about it. "Overwhelmed" is a gentle way to put it... if not for you and Dopespill, Comicstorian, and others I would be drowning in quicksand of "wtf?!". Thank you! 😻
I love the fact that they made her younger. I'm old enough to remember the original comics and I'd love to see her get more physically involved, maybe like a mano e mano with moira.

If you are interested, I would check out Comic Book Herald. He has done a really good job of breaking down the era of Krakoa, and has some really good reading lists on his site.
If you’re not interested in slice of life, read Hickman’s New Mutants and X-Men. All the books are important but what Hickman is doing in Inferno cleans up some of the scattered fluff 💯
It probably won't last forever, but Krakoa is the new standard for the near future at least. It's not ending until Hickman comes back to finish his storyline at the soonest. That could be years.
I don't think that krakoa will explode or anything right now, but by the end of inferno the "internal" conflicts between the council will engulf the whole population

I'm questioning how Hope Summers was able to transfer Destiny's mind into her body, I thought only telepaths were able to do that. Also, the part where you mentioned The 5 following Xavier's word with no question, that's not entirely true either. We saw Hope Summers seriously questioning Xavier's methods and intentions when he has asked her to help look into Magnetos mind in Trials of Magneto to try to find out what happened to Scarlet Witch, Hope strongly disapproved
Proteus abilities include telepathy+ his using Xavier husk everytime one "burns" out. Considering that he's a beign of pure psionic energy and all that. So Hope was likely absorbing his powers.
as many times the Brotherhood and Freedom Force had their asses handed to them with Destiny on the team by all the various X-teams, her foresight was horrible

I think that the Omega is going to plot to take over Orchis (and maybe earth), with the help of Nimrod. In one of the futures shown in House of X, Omega and Nimrod were kind of like the rules of Earth, and I think that is what Hickman is cooking here. It makes sense, if they control the world they can eradicate mutants more effectively.

She was upset because of Xavier, Magneto, and Moira implying her loyalty was under question when she wasn't included for all those years of planning and shaping Krakoa. That and feeling manipulated and played by them because they never told her the whole truth.
The thing is, if they just told Emma Frost everything from the start, she might have already helped them figure everything out, seeing as how she was doing more stuff for Krakoa than any other council member, she was really well branched out and was really putting in the work, she's like the council MVP. She has every right to be upset. They didn't trust her from the start and had lied to her, and now that they see they've messed up they're like "umm so it turns out we actually need you Emma".
Ok not sure because is difficult to keep up whit so many X-Men comics but is not collosus like a villain against Krakoa now ? (I am sure hi is mind control but not sure )
I really think, until now, Charles and Erik are right. It is something desperate, and Erik and Charles care about Krakoa. Moira might think it is just another life that will eventually end, but not for them. They want to save the mutants, but they also love the nation and the idea of Krakoa. I think Empath destroying Sinister chimera happened after Emma's discovery. It would connect the dots quite nice, if you ask me. It would explain why she was keeping tabs on Sinister and, possibly, other QC members too. I don't see Emma joining Mystique. I see Emma doing her own thing to save Krakoa from Orchis, regardless of Charles, Erik and Moira vs Mystique and Desiny drama. But we see her bringing Erik and Charles back, and we see Erik and Charles facing Nimrods. Maybe they will try to end the conflict by themselves and fail miserably.
Nightcrawler didn’t make a very wise decision. Though Destiny is a good candidate for the council his reasoning of making his mother happy was a poor decision as a leader. Destiny hasn’t been alive long enough to know how to handle a seat as a nation’s leader.
Viewing her as his stepmother is an even worse reason. She hasn’t been alive long enough to adjust to modern times as a leader. Destiny is a great candidate she just needs time to learn about modern culture and politics.
moira mactaggert is defying the universe itself. She decides what is right based on her own morality. Moira is cursed to live lifetime after lifetime of failures. Moira is in a time warp loop. Kitty pride is a backstabber. The same bad actors continue to live. Xavier is always plotting. It's time for leadership change.

Colossus is, always has been, and likely always will be, my FAVORITE member of the X-Men stories. I cannot properly express my level of hype right now

Personally I think Sinister didn't like the way he looked because Sinister's facial hair used to be identical to what Colossus has, and frankly, Colossus looks better.

The return of Colossus is hype did not see that coming and the only good thing to happen for Charles and magneto so good for them lol but I gotta say the X-men stories have been nuts and the just keep getting better I can’t wait to see how this all ends

Yeah that was a bit of a wishy washy writing, how could have Mystique been so sure that Emma wasn't gonna cast her vote before Shawn? She should have at least insisted on Shaw voting before Emma, she kind of just let it happen and hoped for the best. For all she knows, Emma could have been the first to speak out and vote. Now I don't think that Shaw cares much about Destiny being on the council or not, but surely he feels like Mystique has made a fool out of him and I don't think he's gonna appreciate that, being as petty as he is.
I thought it was weird for Shaw to go against Emma. After all, in Marauders he said they were on good terms. Maybe that was a lie and he resents her for lying about Lourdes' death.
Forced melodrama as usual, this story had so much potential, but instead powerful throw everything away for "reasons"....

Love Colossus but can’t help but wonder what would have happened if Moira came to the council and they would have let it all out on the table by Xavier showing all her lives and coming clean about the motivation of Krakoa smart play as they would get rid of the leverage but could definitely see how it would rip apart the council.

Moira is like the Helicopter Mom on Crack. She yells at them like they are Children and just need to do what they are told because its what is "best for them", AKA what is best for her. She is planning to wipe them all out like she had been trying to do before Destiny stopped her. She wants Destiny out of the way because she will stop her for good this time.

Only way I see this Krakoan era moving forward is Moira and Destiny working together. Why wouldn’t they? The only reason Destiny threatened her was because she was working on a “cure”.

Likely way off base here but for some reason I feel like Moira herself is the one to burn down krakoa. The fear of destiny killing her permanently leads to a "well if I die I'm taking this whole thing down" mentality.

Yeah I need to understand why Moira thinks Destinys gonna come after her. Definitely some big revelation is coming our way
I've been thinking about this issue & it gives us a few hints for what is to come. Nimrod will definitely arrive on the island and Nimrod will kill mutants and the Island (or some of the island) will catch fire. But what I also think will happen is while Nimrod is on Krakoa Mystique will finish the job that she started but ended up dying in X-Men 20. Mystique found out that the humans are teleporting directly from earth to the Orchis Forge(I think). Mystique with a bomb (maybe a similar device that Forge created for her) will teleport it to the space station and blow it up.
Nimrod will of course be unsuccessful in destroying Krakoa, Nimrod will be stopped by Krokoa itself or by the secret item in the box given to Emma or both.
I do think as well that Destiny will be killed, possibly by Colossus. And because the last of Destiny's DNA was used to bring her back there will be no way of resurrecting Destiny again, it will be a similar fate for Mystique that Dr Alia Gregor had when she brought back her husband & immediately lost him again. Karma's a b!tch.
I have no idea what Omega Sentinel is hiding, my guess is that Moira is leaking information to Omega. Also Moira may have developed a "cure" for mutants that she was killed for in life 3.
Moira will be killed but not before confronting Destiny.
Of course if you read the last issue of X-Force then you'd see why adding Colossus to the Council might be the worst thing they ever did.

Since Inferno is running physically concurrently but temporally after all the regular X-Titles, I wonder if Colossus is still being controlled by the chronicler or if he’s been cured. We’ll have to wait and see. Haha, I guess these mysteries are a benefit of concurrent titles.
My thoughts exactly. Either they’ve already gone thru with defeating Mikail….or Colossus is just another bomb waiting to help bring down Krakoa 🤔

If you are interested, I would check out Comic Book Herald. He has done a really good job of breaking down the era of Krakoa, and has some really good reading lists on his site.
If you’re not interested in slice of life, read Hickman’s New Mutants and X-Men. All the books are important but what Hickman is doing in Inferno cleans up some of the scattered fluff 💯

It probably won't last forever, but Krakoa is the new standard for the near future at least. It's not ending until Hickman comes back to finish his storyline at the soonest. That could be years.

I don't think that krakoa will explode or anything right now, but by the end of inferno the "internal" conflicts between the council will engulf the whole population

I'm questioning how Hope Summers was able to transfer Destiny's mind into her body, I thought only telepaths were able to do that. Also, the part where you mentioned The 5 following Xavier's word with no question, that's not entirely true either. We saw Hope Summers seriously questioning Xavier's methods and intentions when he has asked her to help look into Magnetos mind in Trials of Magneto to try to find out what happened to Scarlet Witch, Hope strongly disapproved
Proteus abilities include telepathy+ his using Xavier husk everytime one "burns" out. Considering that he's a beign of pure psionic energy and all that. So Hope was likely absorbing his powers.

I think that the Omega is going to plot to take over Orchis (and maybe earth), with the help of Nimrod. In one of the futures shown in House of X, Omega and Nimrod were kind of like the rules of Earth, and I think that is what Hickman is cooking here. It makes sense, if they control the world they can eradicate mutants more effectively.

I don’t get why Emma Frost got upset. Figure out how to save the mutants if you know their future.
She was upset because of Xavier, Magneto, and Moira implying her loyalty was under question when she wasn't included for all those years of planning and shaping Krakoa. That and feeling manipulated and played by them because they never told her the whole truth.
The thing is, if they just told Emma Frost everything from the start, she might have already helped them figure everything out, seeing as how she was doing more stuff for Krakoa than any other council member, she was really well branched out and was really putting in the work, she's like the council MVP. She has every right to be upset. They didn't trust her from the start and had lied to her, and now that they see they've messed up they're like "umm so it turns out we actually need you Emma".
The ending of this is ...nuts!!...

Ok not sure because is difficult to keep up whit so many X-Men comics but is not collosus like a villain against Krakoa now ? (I am sure hi is mind control but not sure )
I really think, until now, Charles and Erik are right. It is something desperate, and Erik and Charles care about Krakoa. Moira might think it is just another life that will eventually end, but not for them. They want to save the mutants, but they also love the nation and the idea of Krakoa. I think Empath destroying Sinister chimera happened after Emma's discovery. It would connect the dots quite nice, if you ask me. It would explain why she was keeping tabs on Sinister and, possibly, other QC members too. I don't see Emma joining Mystique. I see Emma doing her own thing to save Krakoa from Orchis, regardless of Charles, Erik and Moira vs Mystique and Desiny drama. But we see her bringing Erik and Charles back, and we see Erik and Charles facing Nimrods. Maybe they will try to end the conflict by themselves and fail miserably.

Nightcrawler didn’t make a very wise decision. Though Destiny is a good candidate for the council his reasoning of making his mother happy was a poor decision as a leader. Destiny hasn’t been alive long enough to know how to handle a seat as a nation’s leader.
A better reason I think would be that Destiny is like his step mother.
Viewing her as his stepmother is an even worse reason. She hasn’t been alive long enough to adjust to modern times as a leader. Destiny is a great candidate she just needs time to learn about modern culture and politics.
The thing about the writing for the mutants is that they have always been made to be overly self righteous. This is just another example.
moira mactaggert is defying the universe itself. She decides what is right based on her own morality. Moira is cursed to live lifetime after lifetime of failures. Moira is in a time warp loop.
Kitty pride is a backstabber. The same bad actors continue to live. Xavier is always plotting. It's time for leadership change.
