I read the title and instantly thought about The Heart of Darkness! It was SO good! I bet it still holds up to this day.
I wish they would remake it so bad. Most people I ask if they remember the game tell me no. It's good to see there are others who enjoyed such a classic as well.

Plus my top pick for a list like this is the PS1 port if the touch-and-click video game adaptation of Blazing Dragons.
Yeah, I was going to mention that - AND the GBA game FINALLY got a fan-translation so we can play that too!
Found a loose copy of Klonoa in my garage last summer. I've never bought the game. 🤷🏼

I loooved Sheep Raider as a child, spent entire afternoons solving the puzzles, so good. And Alundra, I played recently for the first time, its good but made me rage quit a lot, the puzzles are expert level sometimes and some of them requires to do something you didn't even know how to do yet
Legend of Legaia is always overlooked & underappreciated, & it's my favorite game of all time
i loved that game so much...rare to come across anyone thats even heard of it. one of the best and most unique rpgs ever....totally deserves an hd remake.

Brave fencer Musashi, saga frontier, and parasyte eve 1 and 2 were a couple of my favorite ps1 games that not alot of ppl know about that I loved
Absolutely loved Brave Fencer Musashi...such a blast to play.
Wild Arms 2 is still one of my favorite PS1 games to date, and one of the best in the series as well, IMO. It was a delightful surprise to see it pop up on this list!
Actually had a Wild Arms 2 poster hanging on the wall of my bedroom at my folks house until fairly recently lol...loved that game.
I thought “Threads of Fate” was an underrated PS1 game. Some nice graphics for its time, some nice music, and an action RPG setting that predates the “Kingdom Hearts” series, which makes sense since it was created by Squaresoft before it became Sqaure-Enix.
Threads of fate was one of my favs that I've never known anyone in person to have played. That game deserves more than a remaster and be upscaled with an open world, enhanced mechanics, and combat. Characters and story can remain the same
Threads was really cool. That's where you play as princess mint or else little animal shifter guy right? Another weird one was pandemonium, I'm going to just fire off titles now. Final fantasy tactics seemed broken and impossible on the rooftop where you have to protect the twins. Because unless you bought all the right equipment before hand. None of your Guys gets a single turn. Before a twin dies and you game over. And to reinforce that they had it be 1.the store you gotta buy at, then 2. a nice hard level that your team will handle, then a save prompt, then without any chance to go anywhere you respec your team and the 3. Roof battle starts. So unless you bought like, +1 speed shoes +1 speed hats, and EVERYONE has all the prerequisites to be a ninja, you have managed to save at a point where you are already doomed...geez that was crooked. ...ohh also bushido blade, medieval, jade cocoon, Valerie profile, blood omen, it's all about unholy war. Seriously. Loved it deeply and often. Wtf was with vagrant story? Chaining combos was super easy but just made the guy increasingly useless? I think I got stuck on the 2 knights or whatever and got tired of it.
Tomba! is one of my favorite games ands by far my favorite ps1 game, but nobody talks about it. It's a great 2.5d platform game with rpg elements
Tomba is one of my favorite PS1 games of all time. No other game is like it.

Alundra, the Digimon Games including the Digimon TCG, Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories, MediEvil 1 & 2, Azure Dreams, Breath of Fire III, Breath of Fire IV, Croc 1 & 2, Dragon Valor
One of my favorite ps1 underated game is deception 3 dark dellusion . This game is soooo dark and good . Nice vid thx!
I know graphics are more advanced nowadays, but I still feel the 90s were the golden age of games.

@@vhagerty well yeah they play it safe now to sell the tried and tested formulas because they just want money it's a shame. I think a game takes forever to be released too with more focus on graphics these days.
I kinda want to add The Legend of Dragoon to the list but I'm not too sure it's overlooked.
Klonoa is such an underrated, glad they will rereleased Klonoa 1 & 2 remake on switch soon..
Super Robot Wars Alpha Gaiden. One of the best strategy rpgs you'll ever play.
X-Com Enemy Unknown.. Attack Of The Saucerman.. Discworld 1+2.. Exhumed.. Return Of The Sentinel.. Casper 1996.. Treasures Of The Deep.. Project Overkill... 📀👌 so many to list!.. gaming 4eva 🕹🎮♥️
Colony Wars....it even got a sequel on the PS1 and it is NEVER talked about. But they were both fantastic space dog shooters like Wing Commander.
I have not even watched the video, but it has never been mentioned in any "forgotten" lists I have seen on any topic it qualifies for.
Kinda fun just hearing somebody talking about the games and like for say if you have a library of ps1 games this can help you figure out what to play next :-)

There's a lot this list that were big parts of my Ps1 collection, I've spent many hour playing a lot of this list.
Got the Gundam Battle Assault 2 Character Select theme playing in the background......I dig it
Blasto. Phil Hartman did an insane job voicing that character. Controls are wonky by modern standards but the one liners are timeless.

Let me see here… there’s Tomba and Tomba 2, Skull Monkeys, Jumping Flash and Jumping Flash 2, Croc, Parasite Eve and Parasite Eve 2, Soul Reaver… I am sure that there are more but those are the ones that came to mind and that my fiancé kept screaming about while we watched this.
i wouldnt say parasite eve or croc, even tomba, were overlooked though
2:40 It’s not a 2D platformer it’s a 2.5D platformer, which means you’re in a 3D environment but can only move left and right. Other 2.5D games include The Smurfs (PS1), Tigger’s Hunny Hunt, Yoshi’s Story, Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards and all Super Smash Bros games
Don't see how this changes the genre, you still just move on 2 dimensions making it a 2d platformer
Bishi bashi special was a great underated game also the first Digimon. Way more and better games than we get today.
Street Fighter EX 1& 2 Only Because Of the Street Fighter Alpha series but EX was good in its own right
I was hoping Hogs of War would be on here. It was a turn based strategy game with pigs in WW1. It was surprisingly fun.

The Wild Arms series reached its peak when when Wild Arms 3 came out. It was THE most western themed fantasy JRPG that out-westerned other western themed games at the time.
The music was simply *chef's kiss".

I like Final Fantasy Anthology (Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI), Final Fantasy IX, Mega Man X4, Mega Man X5 and Mega Man X6.
Final Fantasy IX is still one of my all time favorite games.

I remember seeing ads for this game in Game Informer and PSM in middle school. Didn't buy it but it was a sleeper hit evidently.

Wild arms 2 was very special. The sequels all have their own gimmicks but never hit that same feeling wild arms 2 had.
I almost forgot, legend of dragoon SHOULD be on this list buuuuut its being increasingly discussed everywhere now for some reason.

Alien: Resurrection was NOT the first PS1 game to control the FPS games with both sticks. According to ChatGPT 3.5 it was Descent Maximum, released in October 31, 1996 - far before Medal of Honor released on November 11, 1999. Decent vid tho. Always love the top 10 vids.

Heart of Darkness. The intro alone was so great! I loved the game. Sadly I only have the demo version I got from the Kellogg's cereals kontainer. Now that's something u youngsters won't see again, sadly.

A remastered Klonoa collection was announced recently, so people will have another way to play it.
