- Check and Test! Autumn Adv Bike Loop in South Suffolk
We 'Check and Test' some new gear, the Mitas Enduro Trail XT+ rear tyre and some new waterproofs, Acerbic X-Duro. The Mitas rear is great but does struggle a bit in the claggy clay of Suffolk. Waterproofs ? So far not tested them in the wet but the build quality and fit is very good - time will tell and will report back once They been out in the wet stuff!
The loop is a nice jolly thru south Suffolk, some lovely lanes, nothing epic, but obviously they can get tricky in winter. It will be a nice steady day out starting at Krazy Horse in Bury St Edmunds, via TTT Motorcycles and finishing north west of Lavenham. Please remember to respect the trail and respect others - but enjoy it! Mike

Love that you're post the GPX for us
@@xcellardoor I hate it when I watch someone doing what looks like a lovely route but have no idea where exactly it is and therefore can’t go and do it myself - so I wish more people weren’t so precious about the routes they are doing 👍💪
Great ride, thanks - I live near your route, I’ll look at your GPX. Thank you.
Great video. I'll be sure to check out your route as I am in Suffolk too. Regarding trf I was very dissapointed to have asked for advice in the Facebook group and not 1 member bothered to respond. Tbh it's put me off joining.
@@DelBouy-lc5wx which TRF group was that?
Another great and informative video.... appreciate what you do buddy!!👍👍👍
@@JulianOLeary-nv5nc thanks 🙏
Another belter of a video mike great stuff !
Great vid Mike. Hope to see you out there.
Nice vid mike enjoyed it 👍
Love my mitas xt+. Good all rounder. Lateral grip not the best but propels forward if you keep the power on. Best all rounder that I can do a long trip on that has tarmac and trail.
Looks greasy out there … great conditions to underline the tyre issue … again.. but I am a convert/believer in that mantra now thanks to you Mike. Cinematography is stunning … I m staggered the Suffolk tourist board hasn’t come knocking 😀
Most of that route would be fine on 50/50 tyres year round, bit of rain tho and some of it is a pig in the slop as you know 👌👍
Mike , Carlos here
In Kent we get chalky slimy mud in winter and as 20/80 the XT+ is a very good all rounder , the standar compound it’s my go to as the Dakar ( more life and puncture resistant ) it’s known to be a pig to get of the wheel if you had to repair a tube on the trail .. great video ta for gpx track will test it soon 🍻
Yeah that is the compromise mate with the 4in rims and 150 rears, very stiff tyres! Next year I'm gonna get some new wheels with a 2.5in rear rim and then I can run anything in winter such as the Michelin Trackers which are great in the slime of Suffolk!
Cor! Would love to get out on those lanes if I could only find my way around. (I live Ipswich)
By the byway Mike- you should've stopped at 37 minutes to let those young people cross the road. Revised highway code n all that .(Looked like you had plenty of time to react). Unless of course there was a car following pretty close behind.
@@RogeyRD250DX I’ve re watched the footage and I don’t think there’s anywhere near enough time to stop, barely the 9m thinking time. Why can’t you use an app or something to navigate the lanes, it’s easy with the right app
@twowheeledadventuresuk2739 O K. I reckon it looks much longer distance on camera. You might remember the incident,or ,if was recorded a little while back you probably wouldn't remember it happenings in real time. And thanks for mentioning TRF and their maps. I WAS in their Facebook group couple years ago but am considering subscribing to them properly now I'm retired. That sounds the best way to keep up to date knowledge of where I can ride.
I've got that Acerbis jacket and loved it for the first two big rides until both the zips started playing up and now don't work at all! Such a shame.
What helmet and goggles are you using
New to this
@@leeellis4263 I think it’s a Fox V1 helmet and fox vue goggles, really like both, helmet is a bit heavy tho
Another great video, thanks! I was thinking of getting the Mitas XT+, did you try reducing tyre pressure? Wonder if it makes a difference
@@vincenthodge5141 i tend to always set them at 24 front and 26 psi rear - the carcasses on the rears are so stiff deflating the pressures a bit doesn’t help that much. I tend to run a Michelin tracker or a Pirelli MT21 when it’s more likely to be muddy, and they are much easier to get off if you puncture. Will use the Enduro trail in spring once it dries up a bit or if I venture over to the peaks again
Enjoyed that Video Mike and especially the history lesson
Done my first days Greenlaning around Essex yesterday
Basically want to up my skills to take my 1090r on some of the less technical byways and Lanes
And since watching your videos realised the importance of the correct tyres
So the question for today is what was that ruck sack ?
And does it hold a drinks bladder ?
@@davidbathe4108 its a USWE hajker, they do a few enduro specific packs, think my one is more of a hiking pack but I wanted something with plenty of room for gear. Mine does have a slot for a bladder, didn’t come with a bladder but did come with a pouch for the bladder. I do like my pack tho, very comfortable and defo waterproof in the main compartment
Great vid Mike, quick question about the Acerbis.....Does it have pockets for soft armour or do I need a vest. Nobody seems to be able to tell me......cheers.
@@colinmills3274 no you need separate armour, had plenty of room for large knee pads 👍
OK....cheers.
They had issues with their comms from what I recall. 👍
It's been a while since I read the book 👌🤟👍
I need as much tyre torque as possible
Changing tyre soon novice rider
Sorry did not get the correct name of the front tyre

No they got compremised by a kid goat herder and had to escape and evade nothing about kit just bad luck. As for tyres Michelin Trecker for me. Boots Gaerne Dakar AGV helmet AX7.
Love the videos and i have the Acerbis x-duro waterproof and i find them to be really good keep you warm aswell as dry, also have oxford rain seal and cant fault either of them for keeping you dry and warm.
