Honest Review of Japanese food in the Philippines
Mendokoro Ramenba Tonkotsu Ramen
Marudori and Mendokoro Ramenba have the same owners! Also interesting that the creaminess stands out for you, because I've always thought that tonkotsu ramen has that quality.
Marudori also same owner?? phhh
hahahaha yeesss this creaminess is filipino invented!!! I like it now hahha
@@watanabejunI’m in SF, in the US. Same here, tonkotso ramen here is creamy as well, cloudy. I always thought because of the process in making the broth. Pork bones are boiled for up to 18 hours that gives the broth the rich texture. 🍜
@@jessicaal415 ohhhh in USA too??? hahaha yeah Tonkotsu become rich texture but in Japan not that kind of rich texture! I can not tell what exactly is different or what ingredient, but I never feel "ohhh it's my culture tonkotsu ramen! " hahaha well, mix culture make new style taste so for me its okay and happy with it, but it just doesnt make me feel home country taste hahaha
Hey, Jun! Great video....I always enjoy these honest reaction videos and mostly when you have good reviews. It makes me want to try them myself.
arigatoooo!!! Yeahh it was goood enough to feel Ramen! hehehe and for sure I will go back to eat again hehehe
Again another food vlog! I loveeeeee!
My friends say Mendokoro ramen is good but you have to go there at the right time because the waiting line can be crazy! I should go out Quezon city more! I miss eating authentic Japanese food.
Also would like to try key coffee, but since I don't drink coffee anymore I'll try their tea selection.
Also I miss working out, but still can't do hard , strenuous workouts since my operation. But in due time!
Again thank you so much for the great vlogs! Keep smiling Jun!
Thanks for the comment too : ) ! arigatoo always!! Yeees ramen, its good, but we have to be careful ramen is not healthy ahahha I have to stop for a while gahahha and Key coffee had food too (looks good too) so you can eat launch there too atmsphere was very cute!!!
@@watanabejun well maybe soon I can venture out again to BGC. It's not hard to go there but the traffic in BGC and the parking...... It's for rich people!
@@allansevilla5640 niiiceee but be careful traffic in BGC is no joke now!! hahaha
@@watanabejun i know, that's why I try to avoid BGC as much as I can
hahahha fair enough! really understand hahha
Try Ramen Ron. They are located in BGC and in Rockwell Makati
ohhh Okiee!! Ramen Ron! notedd! arigatoo
New suggestion for you Jun! I just tried it today it tastes amazing, try Umi Matsu its close to mall of asia.
PS: agree with your comment on the gyoza. It was a standout for us as well when we ate in Mendo
Yeeeesss Gyoza there love it!!!
ohhhh Thanks for the infoo!!! I will try Umi Matsu when I go visit moa naa Arigatooo!! : )
You're right. Same reaction I've tried a few ramen in Kyoto and Osaka like Ichiran and compared with my twice visit of Mendokoro. I'd say it's too creamy that I couldn't finish the broth. It's a bit too much.
ahahahaha you have japanese tongue hahhah yeah yeahh japanese eat creamy kind ramen but creaminess in philippines is something is different! now I get filipino tongue so I can enjoy ramen here, but first I thought its very weird hahaha thanks for the comment!!!
I'm relieved you liked Mendokoro. I'm glad my tastebuds are at par with a Japanese. LOL!
hehhehehe good goooood!!! I like Mendokoro and I might go back soon hehehehe
My comment with Mendokoro is their noodles. They use thick noodles on creamy soup. The reason Hakata style uses thin noodles is so that it wont "grab" too much flavor of the soup. But most Filipinos like this kind of strong taste hehe. I usually order Shio ramen from Mendokoro as I find their Shoyu too strong. What makes me go back is their chasu, though.
that is very agree with you about noodles hahaha filipinos love strong taste I think its related with warm weather country maybe!
I will try Shoyu if I go next time!!! sounds yummy
thanks for the comment : )
For me, Mendoroko Ramen has the best gyoza in Philippines. The ramen is really good but it's difficult to finish the whole soup because it's too creamy. The gyoza is a must try.
yeeeessss gyoza is must try !!! hahaha ramen even in Japan we dont finish soup too
so imaybe ts enought quality mendokoro is hahah
but yeah creaminess is too much I feel still!!
Its nice to do exercise when you always eat and also to be fit to look young that we really want to achieve
But no tagalog word for the day 😅😁
Gaahhahaahhaa sorrry sorry im bad at language lol but filipino accent lol hahah im getting bigger so start diet haha arigatoo fot the comment!
@@watanabejun gambatte! 😊😊
@@queserasera9543 arigatooo!
I noticed that your face has slimmed a bit. Whatever it is you are doing aside from Yoga, congrats! You are looking good than ever.
ahahhaah arigatooo!! but seriously I have to be trying on diet !!!! gettingggg biig now hahah thanks thought! I just started cardio hahah
it's already hot enough that i will never do hot yoga. jumping into ice water after exercise would be awesome
hahhahahhahah yaaahh I wanted to ice water yoga but no class at the time! hopefully next time!
Not sure if I missed reading the subtitle. So you don’t have creamy Ramen in Japan? I don’t think it’s Yoga. That’s how I do my stretches 😂
ohhh good question!! we have actually, but creaminess is different! not this kind and its really hard to explain for me but I feel very weird texture and taste, but now I like it though haha
Sir can you review Ramen Wave in Marikina? They say the environment there is similar to Ichiran but not sure about the taste if authentic.
ohhhh thanks for the comment!!! I will try when I get chance!!! a bit fat from south no? buy yes if I go there yes I will!!! arigatoooo!!
@@watanabejun probably between north and south but in the metro manila kinda hard to tell which side is in the middle part.
@@shun6284 ahahhaa that's true lol very complicated too haha
@@watanabejun Marikina is close to QC so yeah, far but it's a charming city, very clean
@@oxoelfoxo noteeeddd!! Arigatoo!
how about an izakaya tier list? in Makati, here are my some popular ones
- Manmaru
- Akitaya
- Kikufuji
-
ohhhh arigatoo!!! little by little I wanna try! hehehe
because I prefer filipino food lol hahahaha
oh yeah, after Jun goes to maybe at least a dozen ramen shops, I hope he does a tier list!
I find Mendokoro's ramen too creamy, Ramen Nagi's creaminess is just right but personally i like light ramen - Shoyu.
Thanks for the comment!! yeah same here, and you have japanese tongue hahaha I really agree with you!!
Have you tried the Tonkotsu ramen of Ikkoryu Fukuoka in SM Aura?
ohh not yeeettt!! sounds good and I have to try soon!!! thank you for the comment!!!! arigatoo
We look forward to your honest to goodness review of their ramen🙋🏻♂️👍🏻
i dont like the creamy one too and i'm filipino LOL! but yes, i love their gyoza too
we have same taste : ) yeahhh somehow I m liking it but still feel weird haha yeap Gyoza was sooo sooo good!
That is my favorite ramen in the world.
Are you talking about “Ramen”? If it is then what kind of Ramen? Or are you talking about the Ramen shop?
@@Xela07727 ramen shop
@@GabrielEvergreen-lx1df Got it. Though have you been to Ichiran or Chuka soba tomita? They have the best ramen, from pork prone broth to the quality of their noodles.
@@Xela07727 I like it creamier
@@GabrielEvergreen-lx1df Ichiran have creamy ramen plus they also have option for chili sauce with 30 different spices and ingredients. Though there isn’t any Ichiran or Tomita ramen in the Philippines.
Ramen Ramen Ramen!!!
YEEEEEEEESSSSS RAMEN!!! hahaha
Tonkotsu style ramen is so overrated in the Philippines. I like Iekei style and shio ramen more.
that's actually true !!! I totally agree! I like Shio or even fish ramen which feel more refresh taste than heavy tonkotsu! hahah
