Easily the best ramen restaurant here in the Philippines. And to think that it's owned and operated by a Filipino is just inspiring and amazing. They really got the taste down pat. The richness of the broth alone is legendary.
Welcome to Manila Frank! Great first video in Manila. Mendokoro is the more popular one nowadays. You also need to visit Oyasumi Ramen for their risotto ramen.
Oh wow! I can’t believe you’re featuring Yushoken. My wife and I are traveling to Japan again soon and we would like to know how Yushoken’s Tsukemen stands against Chuka Soba Tomita Tsukemen? And also the Super Chashu Shoyu vs Ichiran or Ippudo. We’ve been binging your vlogs a couple of nights now as we are excited for our trip.
also, the creaminess of the broth is rich as compared to some ramen shops we’ve tried. Was it good? Or too thick? How would you rate yushoken out of 10? 10 being Chuka soba Tomita
Yushoken's tsukemen is excellent! Tomita is a bit different in terms of the soup - more niboshi (dried sardine) flavor and a certain grittiness and graininess. My favorite tsukemen shop of all time in Tokyo might actually be a place called Tsukemen Michi. Menya Itto and Oborozuki are very good too. Just note that Tomita is a real big commitment, time-wise. Ippudo and Ichiran I would say serve different bowls from the tonkotsu shoyu at Yushoken, with their soup having that delicious creaminess but also a strong shoyu (soy sauce) flavor. Ichiran and Ippudo aren't as soy sauce forward.
@@5AMRamen Man Thanks for taking the time to reply! :D Ah yes, I remembered getting the Shio Tonkotsu in Yushoken and it resembled more to the taste of Ichiran not the Shoyu. If Tomita is a 10 where would yushoken tsukemen fare? lol A friend of ours has mentioned that Yushoken's broth might have milk in it? hence the creaminess. Is that like a "sin" compared to the pure tonkotsu based soup you can get in Japan (if that claim is true) or would that be okay in the ramen world? I'm definitely telling my wife we'll visit most of the places you mentioned as we are staying in Osaka for 5 days and Tokyo for 4 days. Maybe Tomita might be too big of a time commitment for us and I don't mind missing out now since you recommended some interesting places we could opt for instead. I'm amazed to be having a conversation with a ramen god. thanks for taking the time to read and reply.
Oooh yeah the Philippines! I must say the ramen game here has moved notches this past few years from the authentic ones to the fusion ones. I do hope you will have an amazing time in the Philippines Frank.
I said notches. I did not say a notches. If i meant it to be singular i could have said notch. But i meant it to be plural. The last time i checked, the plural of notch is notches.I see no grammatical error there. ✌️
Very exciting ramen shop, Frank! It would be nice if you could include the prices of the bowls--some people in the US want to charge $20 or more for basic (and often substandard) ramen. Hope you can get a vid with your brother!
Oh Yushoken IS really good! If you ask me, I consider them the best because they arguably make the most flavorful ramen out here. However! I've realized they can get so flavorful that it tends to overwhelm your palette after the whole bowl. I suggest you try the Ramen in Mitsukoshi mall BGC (Bonifacio Global City) at the food court and I think it's better in the sense that their ramen has a well balanced flavor that I could eat it every week :)
Thanks for watching! From my understanding, the menus are quite similar at Yushoken and Mendokoro, with pork being the base, as you said. Although I think each shop does have exclusive items 😃
I'm from Philippines, but i'm here in Jeddah KSA. I have my own online Ramen delivery service, and hoping to have my own shop physically. I serve tonkotsu ramen, taste like pork too but it's completely halal. Hope you taste it soon. The Ramen (online) shop name is "Ramen kage"
They have great chasu. I also love their tantanmen. If I'm feeling extra indulgent I order the tantanmen with a side order of chasu AND an egg haha. Then I roll out of the restaurant :D
That would be good fun! I'm usually scrambling in and out of the shops but maybe when I do a collab with someone and we have a table and visit a place with good gyoza, that would be great 👍

Nicely put! They're definitely not messing around...enjoyed every bite.
First! I see 5AM Ramen, I click. Thanks Frank.
Thanks for supporting the channel!

Thanks for having me! I have been to Oyasumi Ramen in the past but haven't had the risotto ramen...sounds like I need to go back 😊

For sure! The Manila ramen scene has gotten deep now...so happy to see and thanks for watching!
Welcome to PH sir Frank🇵🇭😊. Thanks for featuring the country 😊. Ramen is on of my favorite also🙌. Watching from S Korea 🇰🇷❤️
Love the Philippines-Korea connection! Thanks for watching 😊
Welcome back Frank Sama. Now from manila. A new zone to explore Ramen outside Japan. Best wishes and success.
Indeed! Happy to be back and be ramen exploring in Manila. Thanks for watching 😊
All those bowls looked amazing, especially with the thick noodles.
They were! Fantastically thick.
All four of those looked fantastic👍 The green curry really got my attention. That sounded interesting.
That was fantastic, the green curry tantanmen. Might have been my favorite.

I don't remember the exact prices but I'd say about USD9-12.
Yes, echoing the response already here...around 10 USD per bowl. Worth every penny! Forgot to add the prices.
I'll have to make a stop here when I visit my parents. Calamansi in tsukemen sounds so good!
That calamansi was perfect with tsukemen - do swing by!
Hello, I’m a new sub after watching you and Davidsbeenhere with your Roman tour. Thanks for sharing.🙏🏽
Thanks for watching and following!
Nice seeing you going around here and tasting the ramen.
Great to be back!
Great video. Love your descriptions.
Thanks and thanks for watching!
Yes im a Filipino in American who loves ramen!! I understand your part Filipino too!!!
Mabuhay!
Mabuhay, Frank!!!
Had I known you're in PH, I would have taken you to the culinary capital of the country.
Mabuhay! One more video still to come from this Manila trip. I will be back - next time!

Love your videos! I understand that Marudori is chicken based, but what's the difference between Yushoken and Mendokoro if they're both pork based?

@@5AMRamen awesome! Thank you for the info! There's nothing else to do now but also try out Yushoken! ♥️
Really need to know, did you eat all four in one sitting? Looks delicious though!
I did but I had some help from others 😊
Good to see you in Manila again, Frank!
Thanks for having me!
Truly wish we had that here in Texas....looks delicious
One day! The Lone Star State will have something similar I'm sure.
How much were the meals that you ate can you please share the prices of everything?
It's over 500-600 pesos or about $10-12 with extra service charge. You can enjoy a bowl of best ramen for under $15
Welcome to Philippines Frank! I want to see you and take a picture with you!!!
Thanks for watching! I'm sure I'll be back soon enough.
I tried this ramen and it is very good!
Totally!
When are you coming out to Los Angeles to film one of these? I would love to go to some of our ramen haunts and film :)
I need to do a big trip out there! Maybe we should go on the hunt for some great tantanmen 😊
Thanks for another video man I've been waiting for new inspiration for American r a men I can add stuff 2
Hope the ramen here inspired!
Would be interesting for you to explore the street ramen shops in Bicutan, Paranaque though
Maybe for the next trip!
Wow the menu looks amazing ❤
You'd love these bowls!
Haven’t tried that place. I have tried Mendokoro Ramenba and they have good tonkotsu. It felt like I just had a good Hakata ramen here in Japan.
Mendokoro Ramenba is fantastic too, for sure!
Oh wow, welcome home . . . will we get to see Mark make an appearance ??
That's the only thing the video was missing...Mark! We originally planned for him to be in it but our schedules didn't match!
I wish I could try someday :)
nice!
That's so cool! I wish you all the best in your ramen endeavors...hopefully you'll have a physical shop eventually too.
Havent seen any new videos lately....did I miss something. Hopefully you are doing well.
They have great chasu. I also love their tantanmen. If I'm feeling extra indulgent I order the tantanmen with a side order of chasu AND an egg haha. Then I roll out of the restaurant :D
Lol, I def rolled out myself on this day. That tantanmen is no joke! Same for the chashu and egg 🥚
Frank, have you ever considered reviewing gyoza as well?
That would be good fun! I'm usually scrambling in and out of the shops but maybe when I do a collab with someone and we have a table and visit a place with good gyoza, that would be great 👍
I wanna see ur recommendations in Manila! I do hope u collab w/ ur brother in MNL!
Need to do a proper collab with Mark, for sure! Our schedules just didn't match up this time.
That's a chashu with a side of ramen based on how big that slice is.
Certainly how it felt 😂
Yum 🤤
Thanks for watching!
Frank is in the house!
Boom! Exiting the house heavier too 😊
I was gonna ask if you eat ramen every meal. Then I saw next video.
Lol. Thanks for watching!
Greetings Frank Sama. Are you Ok? You have not even released any shorts. Hope everything is Ok. Best wishes and success.
