Silver Britannia Coins - Are They Good For Silver Stacking?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
- This video is all about Silver Britannia Coins and if they are good for silver stacking or not. I start out the video talking about Silver Britannias in general and the history of them. I talk about the years of the silver britannia and how from 1997-2012 they were made with .958 or Britannia Silver. From 2013-Present the Britannia Silver Coins were made with .999 silver. I show off a new Silver Britannia 2020 coin in the video. That is the only 2020 1 oz silver britannia coin that I own and I bought it for this video. I am a fan of the Britannia design I just don't think they are as liquid as other silver coins in my area so I don't buy them for silver stacking. When looking at the silver britannia vs the american eagle silver coins ASE are better in my area. I talk about how these might be a great option in Europe and suggest that if there are any silver britannias for sale over there that don't require VAT to be paid then they would be a good buy. I do touch on special issues as well such as the silver britannia monkey privy and other assorted sizes and finishes that the royal mint offers. In conclusion my silver britannia stack will remain small, but if I find them on sale I will pick them up.

I love them. They’re gorgeous, and less expensive than the American Silver Eagle. I’ll buy Silver Britannia’s all day long if they’re gonna continue ripping people off on the Eagles.
I concur. Silver is silver.
@James Goodall I got my tubes before for 350 before this plandemic can't go wrong with that price
I agree Pappa Bear these coins are beautiful as any American Eagle and as far as a bargain and for stacking i believe as you do. That is i would buy them all day long because they are not marked up as much as American Eagles. Stack on bro!@
I like eagles
@@soundmoneystacker2787 good for you, recognizing covid for what it is!
It’s still an ounce of silver
I don't get why people dislike this coin for having Elizabeth on them. They're legal tender in UK, she HAS to be on them
I'd rather see her face than say Hillary Clinton.
I actually love this coin. I have purchased at least 3 so far
Just do it sis. That's what we need
Good on you girl! I bought 16 and I’m going to continue to buy more. 2020 is the year I started to buy these coins and 2020 is going to be a year to remember. I will continue to buy 2020 Silver Sovereigns. It’s good to see a girl that’s into prepping.
@@noodlyappendage6729 Thanks. Im more obsessed with the maple leaf though haha
I bought a 5 pack check around the dealers you can get good deal on them, but check
Up here in Canada, brits always are cheaper for me to get than an ASE. I love to stack them, beautiful coin.
You got that right bud.
they are nice for sure! 🔥🐉
I'm in Toronto. I have a few but I still like the Maple Leaf better
Love the Britannias, nice low premium.
True
Agree!
Right now it's about 30.50 for a brit and 38-39 for an eagle. Right now I'm stacking Brits over eagles.
I love them, especially the oriental border ones.
oh yeah those are awesome! 🔥🐉
I recently got a Hong Kong Trade Dollar from a LetGo deal. Definitely the same aesthetic on that coin.
One of my absolute favorite sovereigns. The new one for 2021 looks even better than any of the previous versions. New, enhanced security features make it one to chase.
But its not a Sovereign thats 22carat
I'm from the UK and I've given up buying the silver Britannia's due to both the VAT and the premiums contributing to around 40 - 45% of the total cost of buying them. I'm focusing more on gold right now.
Eh,34lbPenny for 156 90-95%copper at around 4-5 a lb is the deal I see now bars at lb copper 24 before premium! Witch is crazy cookoo kabannaz cuz in USA in 2005 copper/lb was beating at 4-6 dollars ,and ppl was ripping electric wires and water pipes out of newly construction houses lol
That sucks your country's coin is to expensive..... but I understand that's how I feel about the silver eagle
Same
with government doing what its doing you wont live long to get your money back on silver in the uk now , ive got the same mind as you
As a fellow European, I agree! The only sustainable way to buy silver here is to create a company to write off taxes and VAT. Good idea to focus on gold, less taxes!
Cool! I picked up 10 oz over the past two weeks. I was a bit hesitant at first, but the look started to grow on me!
lol keep on stacking!!! 🔥🐉
Silver Dragons are they worth stacking
Careful! Let it drop another $

@@morganjohnson806 Yea, at the time of purchase, I paid around $23 an ounce.
I bought my first Britannia about a week ago. Beautiful coin. I’ll definitely buy more if I find them.
You can buy them direct from the Royal Mint though if you’re not British there’ll be a cost/tax implication
@@PeacockRhino I’m in Florida but Britannia is pretty widely available here.
I live in Germany and as far as I can say the Philharmonics are much, much more popular. This is what I have observed during my stacking. The Britannias are too expensive, more then ASE, Maples, even more, expensive than some collectibles.
Still, is an amazingly shiny silver coin!! Love it!⭐⭐⭐⭐
wow crazy they cost so much there! they are nice for sure 😏🔥🐉
@@SilverDragons47 Thanks for your reply! ⭐⭐🤣
I love in Bulgaria. Where are you purchasing your silver from.? Britannias and Viennas are the same price where I buy them.
I don't like the Philharmonics, they're not reeded on the edges. If there were some lettering on the sides, they'd be a lot better. Britannias are cheaper here for some reason. They are lovely coins.
Britannias are my favorite bullion. I love the design and the way they shine makes it more appealing to me than the ASE.
they do have a nice finish 🔥🐉
DAMN! That’s a nice looking coin! That might be the best looking bullion coin.
they are nice for sure! 👍🏽🔥🐉
The libertads are way nicer

The 2021 design is even better!
@@kingneutron1 I want a gold one. Have you purchased any of these online?
I love collecting Brittania's. The new 2021 issue is incredibly beautiful. I'm waiting for the gold one to arrive at the end of October.
I have one platinum version,
And i live in Holland/Nederland.
Its a beautiful coin.

wow that is super cool! 🔥🐉
Does Netherlands have a silver coin of their own?
@@GoldKingsMan we do not have a silver coin of our own,so i buy other silver coins
Love platinum!!used to be more than gold!!
I think Britannias are absolutely beautiful. It does seem like the older ones appreciate a lot more than the Maples, but I am with you about gravitating more to the maples. That said, I've got nearly a tube of the Britannias in the stack. You just can't have too many of them.🔥🔥🔥
lol no you can’t have too many 😏🔥🐉
I really like those and eventually I'm moving to London, so I'll look into this.
If you’re in London I’ll be willing to sell you Silver Britannia’s at a good price ✌️
Love Britannia’s they got a shine to em that I don’t see in other coins
S.D
I definitely learned a lot about the Britannia I didn't know before.
They are a very beautiful coin indeed.
I have a few of them I've picked up here and there.
They are always lest costly than the ASE'S, for sure.
well thanks for watching my friend! 🔥🐉
First time I went to my LCS (FL), bought a Britannia and 80s Libertad! I have a bottomless Libertad tube and halfway through my Britannia tube! Love my English girl! Once done gunna work on my maples!
Just finishing up my Maples for 2020, about to go hard on these Brits. Lol also ordered a Libertad mint tube in preparation for 2020 Libertads!
Florida Stacker stack em high!
A man With a plan !
awesome work keep on stacking my friend! 🔥🐉
Great deal on these right now so I picked some up. Love the design and ASE and Maple Leafs are expensive right now.
Previously always bought Britannia's singlewise, since I prefer Maples, Eagles Phillies et. tubewise. But yesterday, due to the low premium in Germany, I bought my first Brittania tubie.
I love the way the Britannias looks! My first gold peice was a 1/10 oz gold Britannia. I dont have any silver Britannias but if I find a good deal I'll definitely pick a few up. Also I got my Silver Dragons channel round in a couple days ago its awesome great work thanks Silver Dragons!
awesome i’m glad you like it and thanks for the support my friend! I have a platinum brit but no gold 😏🔥🐉
Of the sovereign silver coins the Britannia (what I stack) is the most beautiful. I just found them when Silver Eagles premium became ridiculous at 8 to 10 USD. per coin. Got a tube and love them!
Stack em bud !
Sadly, that is the kind of premium we are looking at on Britannias IN Britain
yeah much lower premiums on these right now 👍🏽🔥🐉
@@SilverDragons47 honestly dude, I'm looking at 2 Britannias now on a bullion website and it's coming out at £46.56 which I think is roughly 53 dollars or something like that? Maybe a tad more. I'm gonna go down to my local bullion shop tomorrow and see if they can offer a better price per ounce all in, surely they could!?
Wow, it actually works out at 58 dollars and 28 cents for 2 Britannias at 1oz of silver each (in response to my last comment.). Such high premiums at the moment it's actually ludicrous
Just got 10 of them, they are much better looking in hand. I was impressed, the security background is very nice.
I’ve been stacking these because 1 they are freaking beautiful and 2 they have been the cheapest bullion I could find. To be honest though by stacking I mean I bought 10 and want 10 more. I have kids and what not. Trying to stack but have other responsibilities. I do want a 10 oz Britannia Bar. It is just a gorgeous piece of art.
The 2021 britannias are beautiful. After buying some silver ones i splashed out and bought a gold one.
These coins are beautiful. Is amazing the details in the fields.
I love the Britannia and germania but I only have 1 2019 allegories and love it so this is in my bucket list to have atleast 1
yeah these are obviously from the royal mint not germania but still cool 👍🏽🔥🐉
I bought my first ones last week they were $2.99 over spot so I reallocated my ase budget to them. Got them in was VERY satisfied with the proof like finish. It’ll be a price thing going forward for me, if they’re $1 or more cheaper than ase I’ll be stacking them instead.
@@rookiecryptosilvertrader7050 Keep it in mind that it is all just worth spot or less on any given day
very cool!!! the premiums on these seem much lower than ASE right now for sure 🔥🐉
Hi, I am new to silver stacking. Where on earth do you live that you pay $3 over spot? I have found nowhere in the uk yet that sells our cheapest coin, The Britannia for anything less than £10 over spot, thats like $14 premium.
Constable Benton Fraser eBay from reputable sellers only
Constable Benton Fraser us
I love the Britannia's they are very nice looking coins and I find good deals on them all over.
If u buy and sell from JMB...these are 22 with a buyback of 18. Maples sell for 23 with a buyback of 19, ASE for 26 with a buybaclk of 21. So actually the Eagles because of the Premiums charged are the worst deal. I see no real difference in prices from online to my LCS. These are the best deal going right now for govt backed in my opinion. I just bought a tube. Great video! Yes beautiful coins for sure.
very cool! yes a good deal then for sure 👍🏽🔥🐉
I live in UK and paid 20% VAT on the new Britannia the second hand Britannia are VAT free. When stacking these are the best for me
In February they were cheaper than Maples so i bought a tube.
Epic video sd, never had a Brittania but love watching them on your channel- silver stack video ect
That is a very fine coin. Very nice design. I think this may be on my want list. Great info.
I’m glad I found this video. I have a 2020 Brittania and I see a 1999 design on APMEX. The premium is crazy on it.
The new 2021 versions have a dual lock and trident security feature thats lenticular in nature, really nifty.
Here in the UK my LCS likes the Britannias. Widely recognised. In terms of top coins (any metal) his preference, Gold sovereign number 1, gold britannia #2 but when it comes to silver it makes the most sense for us.
For me over here in Europe they are a great buy. Low premiums and good availability. Especially if you're in the UK they are capital gains tax exempt 🙂👁
In Canada all our unfinished or bullion are non taxable as well.
Would a 1kg silver bar be capital gains tax free ? ( UK)
@@alternativeperception6949 hey hey AP. Unfortunately not. You can check the Royal Mint website and they detail what is, or not, exempt.
@@Stacker-vr7je thanks for your reply 👍 they always manage to pull more and more tax out of us
@@alternativeperception6949 no worries buddy. As an afterthought, I'm not sure about the Britannia bars. Those very well could be CGT free.
Just started a tube of these - but worried about milk spotting but wanting a tube of 2020s from all the sovereign mints - what a year!
That's a hell of a goal! Are there known issues with milk spots on Britannia's?
I've been buying them since 2013 - haven't seen a milk spot yet 😳
it has been a crazy year for sure!!! 🔥🐉
Bought the Oriental Border 2018 and have been buying these as the price is very good. Stacking weight with one.
Great info I am new to the world of stacking and learning plenty. 🤙🏼
You can do worse my friend. A bit every month grows really fast eh

thanks so much for the support my friend! 🔥🐉
No way, your from the PDX area? I think it's funny. I just subscribed to your channel as I started to purchase silver that's not just 90%junk silver, starting to get bars and some 1 oz coins. The first channel that's answering the questions I'm asking was yours and you prolly live within 15 minutes of me in the NW. Small world
Hi, you probably already have been told this but the earlier Britannia coins DO have 1 Troy ounce of .999 in them. Just like the full Krugerrand, extra alloys are added, copper I think. The Krugerrand states it has 1 Troy ounce of.999 gold...but the coin itself is actually 22ct gold due to the copper added, which makes the krugerrand around 34gms. It’s exactly the same with the earlier Britannia coins. The alloy is added to reduce the silver content to Britannia silver grade, there is infact Britannia graded silver jewellery but its few and far between. Also it’s a higher grade than sterling. The is still a full 1 Troy ounce of .999 silver in these coins 🪙
Hope I’ve explained that ok and it doesn’t sound like a load of garbage lol
Buying my first 10 tomorrow. The very first start to my stacking journey!
I got a tube of these baby’s.
There are nice but I’m not settled on them.
I’d like to get the Britannia Columbia 5 mark next there gorgeous.
Yes agreed the reverse is amazing!
oh from germania? those are super cool! 🔥🐉
Silver Dragons yes the germania ones I made a typo
Thanks man.
I usually stack heavily on the Eagles and Maple leafs, but I will occasionally mix it up with britannias, libertads, somali elephants and even some of the st helena and tuvalu coins.
Great video! I just got my first tube last weekend and they are beautiful!
If you wanne know, i am from the Netherlands and our government only takes taxes if you buy silver bars (21%). For coins its a free. (to bad our premiums are sky high, 24 euro's for 1oz of silver is the standard these days)
Do they have a Royal mintage there?
Been buying the over Silver Eagles because of the security feature. That is a big +.
Just watched your old best silver coins to stack a few days ago. Thanks, now I gotta do nine -- no panda stacking.
lol yeah those have a heavy premium... and China... sooo.... 🔥🐉
It is the prettiest bog standard bullion coin imo. And CGT free for us :)
What does CGT free mean?
@@eileenmcgovern9193 Capital Gains Tax. In the UK it's what you pay on the profit on paintings or gold bars etc when you sell them. Unless it's an exempt item such as gold sovereigns or silver britannias
In the UK ( we're buying from within the UK ) , VAT is 20 % ( Value Added Tax ). We can buy from Europe ( where VAT is less ) , but then you have to factor in extra shipping costs .
gotcha... that is crazy! 🔥🐉
Nowadays because of Brexit you have to pay a hefty import tax also when buying silver from Europe if you live in the UK
Just got into stacking today, bought 10 of these 2022 ones and 250g of just silver bar Hooe that was the right choice 👌
If it is silver at a low premium I am all in bud. For pouring stock and stacking. 40 years and it sure adds up eh son !
I love the design. However, I have had milk spots develop on 2015 rounds.
Thanks for the info, about milk spotting.
Milk spots develop on most silver britannia coins the Royal Mint produces a lot of garbage, I really dislike the majority of their products.
I don't know why stackers get so hung up on milk spots.
When Silver bullion gets recovered from the sea bed, its black!
The colour doesn't hinder the economics in its recovery.
I have britannias from 2016, some pristine, some not. It really doesn't matter.
I have 2oz QB complete sets, an online outlet says " ring us" for buy back.
They sell at a 100+% premium on some, they then only offer scrap or spot price (which is the same).
When I asked, would I get less for bog standard britannias, they said it doesn't make any difference.
Then I suggested "so I might just as well crush them in a vice if you're going to treat them as scrap".
Needless to say, they weren't too happy with that, " We couldn't resell them"
My suggestion to all, buy the cheapest that you can carry in one trip, denominated in your own currency units, then go for gold.
Milk spots? Several 'cures' on UA-cam to be found, if your that bothered.
Nice video! I bought a tube of these from SD Bullion when they had them on pre-order sale for a few cents above $20 each. I like them cos they say 'NATHAN' on them, which is my first name. :)
lol yes they do say nathan 😂🔥🐉
JM bullion has them on sale rn for "just 3.89 over spot". Probably going to pick one up just for the novelty.
I bought 13 of these in the UK with quite a high premium, but only because I have no silver and this is my second buy of precious metals.
hey at least you have some now! congrats! 🔥🐉
Yes Sir especially this year as Royal mint will now not make as many of them this year as last year,as we know 2020 with covid 19 it hit the mint as the mint stoped production to make PPE for our NHS they are now playing catch up ,I do believe 2020 coins could be a key year .As they won't make as many as they would of.
Right !
it’s possible... we will see! 🔥🐉
The mint stopped making coins to make masks? That is the dumbest lie I ever heard someone believe in my life.
A beautiful coin - but all things considered I’m a Maple Man 🇨🇦
I like Maples the most along with Viennas.
I like all silver 😁
My personal favorite amongst the mainstream coins.
I buy Britannias as well as Krugerands and Maples because they are sovereign coins and usually affordable. Problem is many coin shops don't want to give you much more then the spot price of the silver when you sell them. Several of the LCS I go to often have them in the bins with silver rounds.
Britannias are my favorite. beautiful coin
I purchased 1 oz Britannia in March 2022 for just under $5 over spot. Essentially the same as rounds. Smoking deal in my book, given the security and fact that it is a beautiful sovereign coin.
Good video, not really my thing but still good information.
i just ordered 4 Brittanias, 4 Maple leaves, 4 silver eagles and 10 generic rounds. We shall see.
Class! Chic coin. Great investment. Like for the video.
I just bought a 25 round tube if these off SD Bullion. Only paid about $3 over spot.
great deal! 🔥🐉
One of my favorite coins!
This is my favourite silver coin
Wow. A very nice looking coin. I've been looking to get one for a while now. Just cant find any for a decent price...
I like JM bullion. 21.50 per oz... bank transfer price... currently
there are some on sale here and there 👍🏽🔥🐉
I’m in the UK and I’ve got about 50 Britannias. Only started stacking a few months ago and these are all I have so far. I don’t consider them very interesting (compared to other coins), but that’s either because of my lack of experience, or because they’re just not as exotic as foreign coins....or because I’m fed up seeing the Queen’s head everywhere.....
Got an Aztec 5oz on the way though. Can’t wait!! Looks beautiful.
I plan to add this to my stack. I want one at leasr of most of the majors (maple, ase, Britannia, panda, kruggerand, etc.) After that just stack whatever is least expensive but non generic. That's my plan, for now. We don't pay tax on bullion in Canada.
I bought an older 2012 silver Britannia today for my stack
I probably should have bought more of these when I could get them for under $19.5/oz, though I am charged tax.
arg tax is the worst! 🔥🐉
They're not too bad a price on Ebay if you buy them in lots of 5. If I end up paying 22 dollars as opposed to 20 for them, I don't mind. I look at Silver stacking as a savings account. Some buys are at a gain, some are at a slight loss. To me that's relative at the end of the day. Gary.
hey that’s not all that bad! 👍🏽🔥🐉
Too many fakes on ebay. And the coins are usually more expensive too
@@simonedwards5220 I disagree! If you buy your coins off Ebay from reputable dealers, like the online ones you buy from anyway, then you get the real thing! You also get cheaper offers and free shipping on most all purchases! The other online dealers are the expensive ones unless maybe they have a close to spot deal occasionally! Ebay seems to get a bad rep from people but what most don't understand is, is that Ebay was the first coin dealers online! Only once did I get fakes from Ebay and the dealer didn't even know but I spotted it! I was refunded right away and got to keep them for educational purposes!
I love my sexy 2021 Britannia rounds best looking coin out in the market now , I managed to buy some rounds for under 28.15 per round .

Buying the Brittanias, or Philharmonics at a good price is a wonderful thing, BUT, when you go to resell them (here in the U.S.), some LCS’s aren’t even interested in purchasing them, or only willing to pay generic prices (generally $.50 to $1 under spot). If I’m buying any silver, it’s gonna be the silver in the greatest demand (the American Silver Eagle), most recognizable, easiest to resell to anybody, and in my opinion, the most beautiful.

Too timely. This past weekend I bought 5 Britannias from my Local Coin Shop to complete a 25 tube. When I got home I noticed I had one 1998 Britannia, which was slightly bit heavier (still within One Troy Ounce) and a wee bit larger than the other 24. But that off beat Britannia was within 1 Troy Ounce, passed the magnet test, and had the sweetest sound I have ever heard using the ping test.
Thanks for letting me know about the change over the Brits did on the Britannia. Guess I need to complete a tube of old and new. Agree the Lady with the Trident is cool. But that old lady on the other side appears to be a manic self-publicist. Do you realize she not only appears on those Brit Coins, but also the ones minted by Canada, Australia, New Zeeland, and a bunch of other places? lol
She also appears on my dart board!

ASE for me but picking up one of these just because this design is so nice!
Great stuff silver D. ❤️ your channel 👍
Up here, the dealer buys and sells Maples and Britannias at the same price. Curiously, Silver Eagles have a higher premium but the buy back rate is the same as silver bars.
Love them. I tend to stick to the classics. I stack mostly Maples, Walking Liberties and I love the Britannias because the slight design changes from year to year but anyway what do you think about Aztecs? Ive been buying them because I think they are absolutely gorgeous and admittedly I'm a bit addicted lol but there are many mixed reviews. Kind of an either people love them or they don't like them at all. I plan to stack long term but I also like silver that is in high demand as far as "easy to sell" goes incase I ever get in a tight spot. So I was just curious about your thoughts on Aztecs. Thanks. Great content👍
yeah diversity is important even in stacking. I like the aztecs if you can get em cheap! 🔥🐉
@Robbo Chaplin they had some 5 ounce Aztec Calendar Bars on Apmex for $120ish when I was checking it out yesterday. No I'm from the US. I also saw them at Golden State mint but being from UK I'm not sure how all that shipping would work and cost. Best of luck
@Robbo Chaplin Update for you Monument Metals just announced pre-order for every item in the Atzec line. I looked and they ship internationally for orders over 1000$. You just have to call for a custom qoute 1 -800-974-3121
I would say the motto "gold is gold" is bad advice because premium gold does sell at premium prices, but for silver- silver is silver. As long as it's a popular coin or bar, it seems like cheaper is better. Am I right?
I’m
Stacking these hope it’s worth it !
It’s worth it.Got my first one last week.
CGT free in the UK. Makes sense to buy them if you live this side of the pond.
CGT means after you make £12k profit in one year (£24k/$30k for married couples) you need to pay tax on your profit... not something many ppl need to consider
I was concerned about that but I earn over the threshold anyways so I just stack silver in general.
@@gingerLad ...no, it means you dont pay any tax when you sell. But only if you sell here in the UK.
@@saxonstacker1078 our capital gains free threshold is £12,300 so if you earn over that the cgt still comes into play so my accountant tells me.
CGT free means it does not count. But also, £12,300 profit (not sale price) is also CGT free. I need to sell my stack around £100 per oz in the next 10 months in order to pay CGT. even if I could, i'd just spread the profit into the next tax year.
I know there are wealthy ppl out there but if you can make that much money from silver then you'll probably have many other tax loop holes anyway.
Could you do a video on the factors that dictate buy back prices from bullion dealers for specific coins? Why is it spot for some and over spot for others? Exit strategys, capital gains tax on different coins and if it's possible to avoid CGT if swapping from one asset to another, say buying land for gold? If exchanging silver to gold, what relative ratio would you expect to exchange at considering the higher premiums on silver? All that lark...
It is basically a spot or spot minus on all silver and gold no mater where you sell it unless it is a collectors piece selling on eBay or ? So buy as low as you can and seller beware eh.
@@TomokosEnterprize Yes that's what I would have assumed, but 7.30 he goes on to say he gets paid 2 50 OVER spot for silver eagles!? 🤔

My favorite sovereign coin of them all. I stack mostly them more than I have the others, I have 7-8 tubes so far of just these. I hope I don't regret it with my concern of milk spotting. Oh well, at least I know they're not counterfeit.
The coin is gorgeous
Carrying a 21% premium on individual pieces at SD bullion. Beautiful coin. These are the beauty portion of my stack, not the value portion.
THANKS, for making these videos and...
