Before You Buy a SINGLE OUNCE of Silver - Silver Stacking Tips 2023
Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 сер 2024
- In this video I share some silver stacking tips for 2023 and talk about the best ways to buy silver. I show off some silver that I recently purchased and I also talk about the best types of silver to be buying for silver stacking or for silver investing. When it comes to buying physical silver it is important to make sure that you are buying real silver coins, silver bars, or silver rounds so I recommend buying from a reputable dealer. I also recommend buying locally before buying online so you can establish a relationship with your local coins shop owner. Ultimately you should buy silver from whoever is selling silver for the lowest price so you can stack more silver. These silver stacking tips 2023 include what types of silver you should be stacking as well. The 3 pillars for silver stacking in America are silver coins, generic silver, and constitutional silver or junk silver. My wife recently broke her arm (we were skating with kids), and we do not have medical insurance (instead of paying $600 per month for an obscenely high deductible of $8,000 annually), we set aside that $$$ in precious metals monthly. Our choice paid off. We've been stacking heavily since 2008. Surgery is $13,000 total. We secured a private loan with a 1.5% interest rate using 7 troy ounces of gold. Best part, is the private loaner trusts "us" to hold on to our gold, as we pay back ghe loan, as they know we are good for it. Perfect example of being your own bank and building a community with others. Grow/farm your own food. Use gold/silver for trade.
Congrats on your wise investment decision. Wishing your wife a speedy recovery.
Sweet deal. Any idea if a bank would accept gold as collateral?
Don’t make us real stackers look bad with fake stories
No medical insurance is a no go
@@D0TELL you’re wasting your money on a middle man
I'm bad at saving paper fiat. Once I started stacking now I'm able to save silver
I been stacking for 2 years now and it’s still great to hear this. Thanks SD🐉
"You're not really buying anything. All you're doing is converting your currency into REAL money."
You have been so instrumental in my early stacking journey, and I can't thank you enough.
Same for me! Just getting started but thanks to you and ‘Yankee’ I’m well on my way! Thank you!!❤
Sometimes it feels like I'm going in slow motion when I purchase and think about my next purchase. Discipline plays a big part in this game, so stay focused. Thank You Sir.
I’m just getting into this but already love how open the community is about everything
Jeeez, I nearly feel like an "old hand" with my modest stacking over the past 18 months, lol! I think I've commented before that I love to read and learn about the different Mints that produce these beautiful Noble Metal coins, rounds, bars. It's great you continue to offer guidance---I think you're the person who explained to me what milk spots are.
This vid couldn’t come at a better time, lately been researching and learning about the different kinds of silver coins rounds and bars and want to start stacking silver and protect my future. I have 5k to spare and want to put it to good use
11oz here... gotta start somewhere
Nice bro I'm around the same
Worthless rocks, u wasted your fiat
@@88gcllc 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@88gcllc bro theyre precious metals not rocks. Its the fiat that's worthless
Yes definitely, its about building the habit and mindset, I'm at 33 oz and started in 2020 or so, I didn't get any in 2023 because I was losing confidence in silver, but the world scene isn't changing for the better so I'm sticking with stacking little by little
Great video for beginners, and always good to be reminded of the basics of stacking!
Yes another beginner video
I think many stackers that stack because of economic reasons, miss the boat. I stack becsuse I don't have faith in the dollar. If you have to use silver to purchase food and other items down the road, you want to buy "generic" silver. Example: A 1 ounce generic silver round, might cost you $24 to $27. A one ounce silver Maple Leaf or an American Eagle, will cost you around $34 to $38 an ounce. Business's will not care that your 1 ounce is an Eagle or a Maple Leaf. All they care about is that the coin is an ounce of silver. Therefore you could lose a lot of money by trying to barter with Eagles or Maple Leafs. If silver is at $29 an ounce when you barter, you just lost money if you trade an Eagle or a Maple leaf. The silver content is ALL that matters when you barter. If you barter with a generic round, you break even or maybe make money. That's why over 3/4 of my stack is generic silver. Best of luck to everyone.
See another smart person. A ounce of silver is an ounce of silver unless it is a very rare coin. When I first started buying it was mostly silver eagles than I sold a lot when it hit 30 an Oz. I started buying it back for under 30 last year and mainly get Buffalo Rounds . It makes no difference to me and I'd rather save that extra difference to buy more. Luckily I should have back what I sold next month for under 30 unless the silver keeps going up .
@@jackbean7195 I'm glad someone else understands the concept!
learning to spot counterfeits will be necessary education. its already getting bad.
@@zombiechow9974 Just buy from a dealer you trust.
the reason coins are more valuable than rounds is because they are more reputable. They are known to be made with the standards of the government mint and not made out of some melted nugget in someones garage. even of they’re both 99.99% silver. And not everyones going to want to be weighing random silver rounds to make sure theyre a full ounce or be checking their purity at every transaction
There's so many new stackers and it's good to see. It's a sign of the times and the awakening of some Americans. The dollar and banks are in trouble. It's good to see some people are starting to look around and see what's happening around them. Great video SD. I enjoy your channel. Good tips for helping the newbies and for veteran stackers.
Agreed, people are starting to become more aware, although I still get strange looks when I suggest it to others
@@theadc9091 same here. I keep hearing that the dollar and the economy is so strong. Others say they can't afford to put food on the table and keep electric on so they can't afford to stack. I hear both extremes. With a little budgeting anyone can stack. I'd rather have fractional silver than none at all. I fear a lot of people are going to regret not stacking sooner than we think.
Started stacking this year (2023)
Can't wait to get a whole lot of silver!!!
People's $$$ for the real $$$
Silver lol, can u read a chart? Silver is down 40% since 2011, BTC is up 14M% n 15yrs. Enjoy those premiums clowns

Great information for all the new people getting into Silver and gold!
Just reached 45oz of Silver. Love holding it having it in the safe will continue building my stack weekly from here on out
Hey Silver Dragons I live in Ontario Canada
I go through my bank, they have an online site and the transactions are very smooth, I put whatever I’d like in my cart and it comes right out of my account. 4-5 business days later I pick it up at the local post office. Rounds, bars, coins from around the world.
Silver platinum and gold options. Working on my first hundred ounces currently and without great videos from channels like yours and Yankees I wouldn’t have been able to save this amount up in fiat currency. Thanks for all the videos.
Very convenient and comparable to to the price at the coin shops.
I’m in Ontario too. What bank do you use?

I'm new to stacking, you're video's inspired me to create my own so thank you :)
Happy to see another video. Thanks for the wholesome content!
I started my stacking adventure 2 years ago, but not steadily. Bought a few 1 ounce bars from Apmex, then a couple of 10 ounce bars there too. I bought 10 eagles off of Ebay from a reputable seller. I was concerned about getting fakes, but did the magnet, weight, caliper tests and they seem real. After watching more you tube videos like this, I'm moving back to online buying from trusted bullion dealers and doing a lot more comparison on premiums. I plan on buying 10 silver coins per month and matching that with 5 boxes of ammo. LOL
Yep, I bought three empty monster boxes and Ive been working on filling one with coins, one with bars and one with constitutional and other non pure silver. Definitely my goal to fill those completely and switch primarily to gold and feeling much more comfortable spending hundreds on single collectable pieces and Numismatics. I just wish it didn't feel like the bottom was about to fall out from underneath us before I make it to that goal
Do you feel or do you KNOW that is going to happen?
@bamahama707 valid. I remember back in 2013 when I had started stacking hard, I felt the same way. I realized quickly how my feelings weren't important as spot price continued to do what it does. I briefly stepped out due to financial hardship, all the while watching spot price. In the latter end of 2023 I've jumped back in. Got 10oz for spot through apmex, and overpaid on 5oz of Perth goodies.
I tend to stack in 2 catagories. There's generic .999/90% junk, and premium/collection pieces. One half of my stack is more of a collection, while the other half is liquid. Not easy to spend, but liquid.
maybe you watch too many videos of fear mongering fools
I am a newbie so I just wanted to thank you for educating me on this.
Great advice. Thanks!!!
I love SD Bullion. And I really liked that Barber dime you showed. It was in really good condition.
If you like SD, you’ll love Golden Eagle Coin. Give them a try. No sales tax there.
Love this video
Good stuff. Thanks!
Another W video and cool monster box challenge
I think this is a great idea first I’ve heard of it here I currently have about 200oz of Canadian junk silver and 15 oz maples… just placed my first order for a box tubes
Everything Silver Dragon says makes sense! Start small with a goal to fulfill. Personally I still love ‘brands’, such as maple leaf, eagles. Second choice is the Buffalo. I find that Brittania coins are rough to the touch. My new discovery are the Prospector coins! Maybe the day will come that I regret I never bought junk coins! Haha😢
thanks man great idea get the empty box and fill it little at a time
Great video nice stack brother have a great week 👍
Great information keep up the good work
Thanks for the great tips. I appreciate it.
Absolutely I couldn't agree more my wife and I have been doing it since 2019 we kind of the New kids on the block but we're getting there.
Local pawn guy told me this week his oz rounds were more $ than coins because they are 'fun and collectible'. LoL good luck.
Just picked up a 2023 Silver Eagle at a Flea Mkt., weighed 1 Troy exact at home. Didn't want to take a chance on any more not knowing authenticity! He had a tube of them. Legit after all!
Precious metals are reasonably priced right now. Get out of FIAT currency. Be your own bank. Thanks SD👍🥇🥈🥇🥈🥇🥈🥇🥈🥇
It was always hard to save cash. Since I started stacking, I been able to save thousands. Thanks SD🎉🎉
great vid!!
Well done SD!!
Good tips, my friend 👊
Lots of sweet eye candy 🤤
I shop around online whenever I have some extra money for silver. There are several reputable online dealers and each time they can have better sales than each other. No one site is absolute best. I have found buying the ASE's and other sovereign coins is usually best person to person.
Facebook groups are the best way to buy silver. You can comment on a sales post and ask for references, I have purchased a total of 65 oz of silver from Facebook groups and never got scammed. You don't have to pay sales tax, plus you can sell your silver on the groups for a higher price then a shop would give you, since shops normally only give you spot or under. You can sell silver for a premium in groups.
My LCS charges silver rounds at spot price that also includes silver bars that are Royal Canadian Mint at silver spot so they don’t add any premium because there store focuses more on jewelry than coins
I just bought maples. Only 6 tho.
Very good video
I wish I bought a monster box of the Maple Leafs when the price went down a bit, before it shot back up. Monument Metals had a monster box (500) Maple Leafs for around $12,000 at one point. Now they're up to $13,400+. Beautiful coins with good security features at a reason price.
They can be had right around 12k again.
I am new to stacking, in the last couple months, but did collect a little bit if sterling and some gold jewelry before. I also had bought a few ASE's as well. Love your videos and Yankees too. Thanks for the information!
I have a coin shop in my area but the prices are insanely high and we have to book before going in the store
I love all your tips ! But man , when you show some of your silver off.... I get so jealous 😅 I just recently started and feel like I have alot of catching up to do
Thats biiig facts. I just started and I feel like ill never catch up
😊thanks
I bought a beautiful item last week… a monster box. (Ahem) an empty monster box, so I can fill it with pretty shiny’s.
Hey Silver Dragon! Where do you buy your tubes? I bought some off Amazon and my coins and rounds Dont easily go to the bottom of the tube....
Keep up the great work! Thanks!

New subscriber…can you do a video about the worth/efficacy of buying/collecting/“stacking” various US Mint coins such as the Presidential medal series, the Military Medal series etc. The Presidential series has a high mintage whereas the Military Medal series has a low mintage and the US NAVY 2.5 ounce is already selling for 3 times the value in some markets as it only had a mintage of 10,000. Thanks.
Waiting for that moment when I have so much silver that I don't worry about scratching maples while stacking them.
In Canada, where I live, you don't really get a deal on silver. The cheapest I have seen silver go for is $36.00 per oz. This is of course in Canadian dollars. Gold is too expensive. $740 Canadian dollars for a quarter oz of gold. It's outrageous. Spot prices on silver and gold are also not going up appreciably, so if you sell you get squat. From my perspective gold and silver are horrible investments. People don't have food to eat. They are up to their eyeballs in debt. You think with their meager incomes, they are going to be able to afford gold and silver. Even if they go and buy gold and silver, what exactly will it do? You have to convert it back to fiat anyway. You may get less, you may get more. It's definitely not going to feed you unless the gold and silver are converted back to fiat, the most liquid form of money.
As a collector slash stacker my favorite right now would be bu peace dollars check it out and sometimes I get a rare one or Franklin half’s check that to I recently got lucky on those
Fbl
Right now, in Canada, Maple Leafs are selling at a 30% premium….gold is a better option if you can buy by the ounce with a premium of less than 10%. I bought some silver 5 years ago when the premiums were much lower, and won’t consider buying any more till the premiums drop to a realistic level.
Yea I'm more of an old iron stacker if I can I'm going to have a good collection of functional restored antiques because if things fail money is good but means nothing if you can't do anything because if you need food everyone around you will also need food and you can't eat gold but that old iron can be used to make food
Luckily in Canada I bank with TD Canada which also sells metal and they carry silver maples, silver eagles, Britannia and some more
True but unless you can buy at spot, you're still buying money bc of premiums. But its still the best thing you can do with your green. Nice pyramid btw. Im only 496 shy of a monster 'Bullion Foot' box myself. & when i get my 1st bullion foot- you'll be the 1st to know, bc I'll probably drop it on my foot & be able to say i joined that club hahaha imagine the bunion bullion foot club members & how they must walk 😂 can't wait to be one- thanks for the tips
i was so happy earlier this month when junk was selling under $18x at hero bullion. but the price has skyrocketed again. and for the past few months, after tge premiums went down, i was adding a few dollars face along with a few random date ase’s. but now, the premiums on both are getting out of hand again. wish i’d bought a $100 face bag. oh well
How about when u sell? Coin, round and bar are selling at same price no matter what premium you paid before?
If you received a bar that was tarnished. Would you bother to remove the tarnish before long term storage or would you not worry about it? If cleaning it would you use the baking soda and hot water method and would this damage the bar at all?
hello,in your opinion which is better to buy? buy the oz. or face value ln const. silver. do u look for a great coin with more value or buy the face, which I think is for weight. I can see both ways. I have know answers.
Here's what ya do. Find an honest dealer. Ask around. Start by getting your hands on silver rounds or bars. Or, Purchase Junk Silver. Ya know, Half dollars. Quarters and dimes. These are easy to aquire and everybody knows what they are. Or, Silver Eagles or Canadian Maple Leafs. They're 1 ounce. Easy Peasy.
The Canadian Royal mint makes the 400 oz bars for the Comex.
What wealth??? I'm so poor I can barely pay attention !! I buy silver as a savings. To new stackers weight, weight !!!! Stack for weight I wish a year and a half ago someone would have drilled that into my head !! Now I have too many higher premium coins. Maples and rounds are what I'm stacking now. Great video. Bars are a good bet !!!!
I like the 90% but I'm a collector I don't plan on selling my stuff. I collect coins and military firearms from around the world, after I had everything I started my coin collection
Shoulda challenged you with the maple monster box. 😉👌🏼
You didn't tal much about "premium", wha6t is it, who determines the premium, what's a fare premium, also the negatives of nuying fractional gold and silver, like to pinky-finger size peices or gold in blister pack -- really expensive way to buy gold. I love you videoa, I learn a lot, keep 'em coming.
I wouldn't discount pawn shops completely in the UK I've found a few bits at the same or just under the price dealers charge but minus the postage charges/headaches, granted ones been trying to sell silver 1oz Britannia's for 125% over spot (they're not bad for sovereigns though) but up the road there's another place selling them at £30 which isn't bad when most dealers are slightly higher and dealing with postage and sadly all the proper coin stores are located in the shadiest side of towns but I'll definitely hit them up when I'm back on the road
the premiums on junk silver are actually more than most bullion coins now.
I buy nothing but generic rounds, silver is silver and I save money when I do buy. I get mine from money metals exchange. They are usually a bit cheaper.
MME is one of the highest priced places online. I just checked. 6$ more per eagle than from Bold.
What about buying silver coins from your local bank for example the TD Bank?
I just bought a tube of silver eagles and wish I watched this video first I would have opted for the maples instead.
Im 15 and started stacking now 😮😅
SD bullion good but high
I have 20 thousand of inherited money to purchase metals. I'd like advice on my best buy and who from? We are worried and are okay with this.
I've been working on a side hustle to get more Metals I even recycle my cans just for silver thanks for the idea SD
Does it work to buy cool like silver( 25 oz silver bullets) 🤔?
my coin shop owner is a scammer lol charging like 40 bucks for an eagle that was when they were 29 bucks
I’m only stacking 10oz Bars of Silver and 1oz Gold coins.
Any fellow Canadians see disadvantages to ordering precious metals from TD bank? Im a FNG to silver but it seems an easy way to purchase...
I buy my silver from td bank. It’s super convenient. That being said they don’t have everything I want. But a great place to stack maples.
So I’m bout to buy silver right now should I get coins or rounds ??
How much you get for hawking SD Bullion?
Would you ever do a constitutional silver box I’m sure that’s a stupid question 🤷🏾♂️ kinda new
Shoot for a face value number like 20 or 100$ of constitutional and then find an appropriate sized 💰 bag
THAT'S THE BEST FINANCIAL ADVICE I CAN GIVE YOU !
are all of these 2023 editions?
Well explained. Same goes for crypto. It's not the assets going up, it's the dollar going down. My plan is to pay my mortgage off if I play it right.
does silver purity matter 999 or 925 and what about gold 24karat or 22karat??
Just bought rounds let's corner this market silverbacks
I’ve also been using SD bullion, good prices, email sales for new people and old, Christian company. Bought some britannia coins and they knew in a free plastic tube, others were nicely bubble wrapped in plastic covers.
Do Not go into credit debt!! Get a job and pay it later.
Try Golden Eagle Coin. Better prices than SD, and they don’t charge you sales tax.
Where do you buy your silver id like to use that website or whatever it is plz
How is junk silver priced? Compared to the 1 oz coin and bars
i’m 17 got 2oz at the moment it’s just the premiums that make me feel that it isn’t worth it
you live in oregon my company is based there whats your favorite coin store with best deals in oregon?
STARTED SAVING SILVER IN 1955 AT AGE 9 AS OF 2024 I HAVE IN MY PHYSICAL POSSESSION OVER 73,000 TROY OZS. OF .999 OR .9999 SILVER SOVEREIGNS AND BULLION. I AM 77 STILL BUY OVER 1,000 TROY OZS. OF SILVER EVERY YEAR. MY GOLD HOLDINGS ARE A WHOLE DIFFERENT STORY.
Do you hold both? I actually do Silver, Gold, and Platinum personally.
how do you not lose money paying $10+ over spot price ( for coins ) when you go to sell ?
My only qualm with selling coins, or rather buying coins is if I need to sell them I'm probably going to lose some money because of the premiums it cost to get the coins in the first place
some people prob feel safe doing it lol but who really goes i want to buy gold and silver -- oh ebay sounds like a great place lmao
