i made my meringues by hand. Took me 1 hour. my hand mixer wasnt working so i decided to make them by hand. hand was sore afterwards but it was worth it. they are so yummy!
Hi everyone. Just wanted to give some people a alternative way to make these with liquid food colouring. I made these just now, i only have liquid colouring, so what i did is take some of the white mix and then add food colouring to the small amount of mix, and just make it darker than you normally would so that the colour shows up after they bake. Works just as well to get a similar effect of different colours.
Made the meringues using your method. Except, used lavender extract instead of vanilla and coated them with Nutella. it's come out wodnerfully!! thanks Jemma! ❤😘😁
I have tried so many of your recipes and each one has come out perfectly, thank you ever so much for sharing your amazing recipes, I'm a massive fan of yours
All the dislikes are from the egg yokes who couldn’t participate in the meringues process an felt left out 🥺🥺😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 They look so yummy I will be trying this 😋😋😁😁😁
I was making these for my friend birthday party in school (i am a high schooler) i got some help from my mom and they turned out just perfect but for me instead of putting a secret marshmallow i put secret m&ms just about 4 pieces each it turned out perfect my friends loved it
I’ve heard about crack in meringues before. Some bakers recommend cooking them, but not removing from the oven. So when they are done, turn oven off, leave the door cracked with a dish towel and let the meringues cool down slowly in the oven.
If you want to be sure not to get any yolk in your egg whites, then crack the egg out on a plate, use an empty soda bottle to suck up the yolk, place something flat under it (like a frosting spatula) to make sure the yolk doesn't fall out, and move it to another plate or bowl. This way, you're sure to remove all the yolk, it's a lot easier, takes less time, and is even safer since the outside egg shell has a higher chance of containing diseases.
Maybe crack each egg white into a separate bowl before adding to the mixing bowl. Yes, it's an obvious solution to those of us who know the science of making Meringues, but a simple tip for beginners or those using their parents ingredients because let's face it, we'd soon get fed up with losing a dozen eggs to a recipe that calls for 6. Great video. :)
You can also crack the eggs when they are cold. Then the egg-yolks will hold better. (If you do it, make sure you let the egg-whites become room-temperature before you whip them. If they still are cold, they won't reach their full "potential"!)
I never knew how to make perfect cakes especially cupcakes but J.your the best. You teach to understand loving you...you never disappoint .keep up the good work
I made this and it turns out amazing! i just use yellow color on the both side, reduce some sugar, add some of lemon zest, and sprinkled it with my sprinkle. it become cuteeee! someday i'll put it on my pastel-color layer cake for the decoration
I love making little meringues for the tops of cupcakes. I like to use a star nozzle. when you first started piping them they looked like toothpaste lol
What Jemma failed to say (but totally should have) is don't crack the eggs straight into the mixing bowl, break them into a bowl or cup so then if you get some yolk in them you won't need to throw away a whole batch of whites
Dear Jemma & Sally, my 4 year old daughter is quite possibly your biggest fan and totally obsessed with watching your videos daily and learning all the awesome tricks and skills! We have shared your link with all our friends in South Africa. My daughter Ava made some of these striped meringue kisses for the first time today and used a piping bag which was sooo much fun!! Thank you for being so awesome and for sharing these amazing videos we loooove you!! 🤗🤗🤗 hugs & meringue kisses from Ava (and her mom Tanya)
Just cooked them today. They are really amazing and very testy. I followed all the instructions and they look the same. Only one thing was different - time. It took me 3 hours to dry them. Otherwise it's wonderful tutorial. Thank you very much for such great ideas!
Excellent recipe! The meringues came out perfectly. YUMM! I didn't use marshmallows but they were lovely gooey in the middle anyway. Exactly as I like them. Thank you! 🤩
+Rey Mysterio 619 *diabetes lmao, also eating a lot of meringues won't necessarily give you diabetes, its usually only happens when someone eats a lot of sugary and fatty food every day in large quantities.
Am I the only one who can't find colour paste ANYwhere. I've been to shops in Belgium, France and the Netherlands and no luck. Maybe you can do a giveaway? Colour pastes, vanilla extract (yours looks amazing), piping bags,... That would be so fun! X
De Makro in THE netherlands is were i got most of my baking stuff, including gelcolors from wilton (they have quite a lot of wilton stuff there) not everybody van vet in though you neem to have a pass
thank you Jemma for sharing your tutorial videos, i learned a lot from you, now i knew what is best sponge cake for decorating cake and what is sponge cake for making swiss roll cake, in frosting tecnique, for the beginners like me.. i know kinda hard but if i fallow all important steps my cake will be great! and i will keep watching your tutorial video and your more future videos happy new year!! more power!!
I had one of these in the shop on Wednesday and they taste as good as they look! I really loved it (and my team loved all of the mini cupcakes I picked up for them!!)
A little tip I know: when making meringues and using a hand whisk, don't allow the hand whisk to touch the bottom of the bowl when whipping the egg whites.
These are amazing and are perfect for the British weather! Lol I love making rainbow colourful stuff for winter since its practically grey most of the time! ;)
jish doon you absolutely need a scale because the weight of the sugar is the double of the egg weight. Meringue can be extremely easy if you weight everything precisely!
You don't need scales for meringues. Simply use three egg whites to a standard mug of sugar. Add a drop oh white wine vinegar, and a splash of vanilla extract. Whisk until stiff, probably ten minutes on a high mix.
Jemma, You have inspired me to recreate some of your cakes, I'd like to send them to you when I'm finished, oh btw I work in 12th scale and use polymer clay so they wouldn't be edible but fun to look at! Visit me on instagram at lulie_b Bye-bye
Haha, just had a go at doing these!! I chose blue and red (only colours I had) plus a mix of the two for purple... Well... they came out great, recipe is perfect (thank you Jemma) but they look like Aquafresh toothpaste - face-palm!! lol Peeps, learn from my mistake :) taste GREAT though xxx
Hii jemma , tried this lovey meringues for the second time and it came out beautiful and yummy. I always try your yummy recipes and thanks alot. Ur amazing. Wish you Good luck. Im Gavindi from Sri Lanka.
I get the same rainbow effect bye ha feeling my piping bag couple drops of food colouring down the side using a chopstick lightly poking pushing the colours down the side of the bag give the chopstick a nice big twist as you pull it out repeating this with 4 colours you get a desired look

Watch religiously from the US. You are darling and an incredible talent! Crumbs and Doilies is on my future dream trip to London!

thanx!!! :-)
There is another method too, mix the liquid colouring with a little bit of icing sugar, it will turn it into a paste!
+V Shamsi oh thanx !!!
This was a great tip! Thank you!!

Mrs Sadie Adler 😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
I was amazed to find out the egg whites are far higher in protein than the egg yokes. Eggs, the perfect food (if pasture raised organic).
make ice cream!
😂😂😂😂😂😂

That sounds glorious!!
I’ve heard about crack in meringues before. Some bakers recommend cooking them, but not removing from the oven. So when they are done, turn oven off, leave the door cracked with a dish towel and let the meringues cool down slowly in the oven.
if you're cheap just get black color paste and make night circus meringues
OMG!!! YESSS!!!
Or if you're lazy
PurpleChYeri Or both
This just gave me the idea of galaxy meringue kisses!! That would be so pretty!

Emma Yanzi Nordrik That's a great tip! :)
I was going to say the same thing! or use the plastic water bottle technique, which is magical!
lynn jepson That's a great tip, Lynn. I find that far more reliable than the egg separators! :)
Yes... Never crack your eggs on the edge of your mixing bowl. Use a separate bowl every time. Ensures no shells, etc
jemma I think you are a good chef and you're a talent and need to be on stage.
Can't wait to try these! Thanks for all your hard work, expertise and occasional humor. You really make baking goodies fun !😀🎂💗
I’ve made these, since I’ll probably never make it to Soho. And I love them and so did everyone else! Great recipe! 💕

I made this and it turns out amazing! i just use yellow color on the both side, reduce some sugar, add some of lemon zest, and sprinkled it with my sprinkle. it become cuteeee! someday i'll put it on my pastel-color layer cake for the decoration

Jealous of success!
Hey Jemma! what I like about all your recipe is they are super easy to remember and super easy to make.
What Jemma failed to say (but totally should have) is don't crack the eggs straight into the mixing bowl, break them into a bowl or cup so then if you get some yolk in them you won't need to throw away a whole batch of whites
that is common sense my dude
Maybe for experienced bakers but not newbies!
Dear Jemma & Sally, my 4 year old daughter is quite possibly your biggest fan and totally obsessed with watching your videos daily and learning all the awesome tricks and skills! whahaha lol dont eat to much if not u get dibities not cursing but just dont eat to much okay
+Rey Mysterio 619 *diabetes lmao, also eating a lot of meringues won't necessarily give you diabetes, its usually only happens when someone eats a lot of sugary and fatty food every day in large quantities.
Are meringues very sweet ?
+Zhan Yi Zelinda yes, they are mainly made of sugar mixed with egg but because you can't taste the egg whites it mainly tastes sweet
I just made these and it was amazing!! Thank you so much for the best recipe ever!! 💕💕
Am I the only one who can't find colour paste ANYwhere. I've been to shops in Belgium, France and the Netherlands and no luck. Maybe you can do a giveaway? Colour pastes, vanilla extract (yours looks amazing), piping bags,... That would be so fun! X
You have to get it online, I got some on amazon.de
If you're from Belgium: you can get the colour paste in Aveve (kleine potjes voedingskleurstoffen).
piping bags and vanilla extract you can find in a lot of stores in holland there is a big baking shop in the hague. try that one if you're around.
rana hakeem you don't have to get it online if you dont want to. just make sure you check out the right stores
De Makro in THE netherlands is were i got most of my baking stuff, including gelcolors from wilton (they have quite a lot of wilton stuff there) not everybody van vet in though you neem to have a pass
Jemma I am obsessed with your bangs! They need a fan page.
Hi jemma just want to know where did you buy the clear round nozzle tip and the small bowls you had in this video. Thank you
I made these for Easter along with your 🦄 cupcakes and swiss buttercream meringue and they all turned out PERFECTLY! Thanks for the great recipes!
thank you for the recipe. how long I can keep it and in room temperature or fridge?
thank u
Yousra Jaber As long as you keep them in an airtight container (preferably in a cabinet) they will last quite a while
Jemma! You are the Queen of hard work. Lovely and excellent recipe. Keep baking. Blessings ChefMike
I'm so happy that I've found this channel!!!
Jemma, you are awesome 😚
thank you Jemma for sharing your tutorial videos, i learned a lot from you, now i knew what is best sponge cake for decorating cake and what is sponge cake for making swiss roll cake, in frosting tecnique, for the beginners like me.. i know kinda hard but if i fallow all important steps my cake will be great! and i will keep watching your tutorial video and your more future videos happy new year!! more power!!
Am I the only one who thinks they look like toothpaste
But I do love your videos xx
I am not a fan of UA-camrs, but Jemma.....you are my very favorite youtuber!! Your work is brilliant!!
If you seperate eggs like this, you have to make sure that your hands are clean and oilfree as well :-)
I had one of these in the shop on Wednesday and they taste as good as they look! I really loved it (and my team loved all of the mini cupcakes I picked up for them!!)
at first it looked like toothpaste!
Absolutely loved making this! I just made it right now and it came out perfect! Eeek so excited!! Thank you for making this video!
These reminds me of toothpaste XD

Nicole Ann yes idk why
Your recipe is are amazing
That's funny
Aquafresh toothpaste also reminded me of them round chewy lolly’s
You remind me of a fairy that helps all the magical things come to life.
Did anyone else think of ned Flanders when she said diddly?
No. Diddly.
Ruby Davies yes
A little tip I know: when making meringues and using a hand whisk, don't allow the hand whisk to touch the bottom of the bowl when whipping the egg whites.
Im using handheld whisk and had been whisking for an hour and the sugar doesnt dissolve completely :( what should i do???
If i come to london i am going to eat some cupcake in your shop .. But where is it exactly?
Soho. I'm sure the address is on her site.
Check the description, it says it
Crumbs & Doilies
1 Kingly Court
Carnaby
London
W1B 5PW
Have fun if u go :D
These are amazing and are perfect for the British weather! Lol I love making rainbow colourful stuff for winter since its practically grey most of the time! ;)
can i put a chocolate inside instead of a marshmallow?
Yes
i wont recommend that cuz it will melt in there and end up dripping. or you should wait really long until it harden.
Its color is literally gorgeous!
if you don't have a scale, what would the general measurements be?
jish doon you absolutely need a scale because the weight of the sugar is the double of the egg weight. Meringue can be extremely easy if you weight everything precisely!
Mathilde Hamon i actually tried this recipe without a scale and they turned out wonderful! i just did some simple math
You don't need scales for meringues. Simply use three egg whites to a standard mug of sugar. Add a drop oh white wine vinegar, and a splash of vanilla extract. Whisk until stiff, probably ten minutes on a high mix.
Gail Willis a mug of sugar? do you mean 1 cup?
Sahira Nope, I mean a mug, but maybe a cup and a half should suffice.
Thanks Jemma, followed this tutorial and they turned out adorable! Definitely advisable to listen to the tips! Thank you :)
We're do you get your piping bags from
try ebay or amazon
+Irgendein Fangirl I think she's aware of that, but Jemma's are interesting and I couldn't find them on there.
Love your videos- been binge watching them all day!!

OMG I love meringues. I made a chocolate Meringue cake in class once. So yummy. Lemon meringue cookies are good.
It looks so cute 🥰
I love you Jemma💕
Wow!! I loved this!! I'm definitely gonna try it!!
The meringue is very crunchy and I really love it, thank you so much
I have seen this exact same recipe before.A Korean channel arikitchen made these and the rainbow colours were super bright and beautiful.

So adorable and looks really yummy
I love your channel. Tried these beauties and everyone went crazy...they were delicious. Thank you for sharing such awesome recipes. :)
Really fabulous as always! Thanks Jemma
Love vids I learnt how to make frosting from you thanks Mrs jemma
I have tested, and it's so good. Thks for the recipe❤
As a young girl, when learning to make meringues (after learning to make Italian meringue,) I was taught to warm the sugar in the oven, like when making jam. This step is never used anymore.
Aah they're so cute! Love seeing your videos, gets me excited when they pop up in my feed :)
Jemma is amazing!!!
MORE AND MORE CUPCAKES PLEASE!!!!
I just made these Jemma thank you for sharing my kisses came out perfect 🙋🏻♀️
I'm headed to London in late October all the way from Australia and your shop is going to be one of my must-go-to places! :D
Also its best to keep them in the oven for about 30 min (when they are ready and the oven is turned off) to rest so they dont crack from the sudden cold air
What gas mark is 100 deg c? Why do you take the meringues straight out of the oven when done, as some recipes say to leave in oven to cool down?
definitely a must make!! they are so adorable i'd feel guilty eating them!
my meringue is dry and conpletely pulled off from the tray, I baked them around 45-60 mins. But why when a couple minutes off from the oven the top of the meringue is sticky to my fingers, like melting sugar. Is it because of the humidity in Indonesia?
Wow, how cute are these *-*
I love your videos and I might become an baker person once I grow up
