My first time at @sweetwater for Gear Fest! Man was it an incredible experience. It was great to hang with the drum bros and play on a bunch of crazy drum sets and see a bunch of crazy gear and take in the Sweetwater campus! My first time at Sweetwater! Who else has ever been there before?
Not me but I’m liking the comment anyway 😂
I haven’t been there in person but, they’re one of my favorite places to purchase music equipment!
I’d like to but I live in Missouri so going there would be kinda hard
I’ve been twice, wanting to go again
i live 40mins away and drive over all the time. would’ve been cool to see ya there
700 air vents on a snare drum.. DO ITTTT 😂
lllol man gonna make the cheese snare
c
He basically already has. See the vid called 'Cheap Swiss Cheese Amazon Snare'. David drilled many holes in a cheap and fugly Amazon snare.
@@samoz6865 cane to comment just that
The legendary Zack has spoken… also nice name 😅🤟🏻
The Halo Theme singing was perfect
Opening scene Reminded me of walking in to a room in the 2000’s with people playing Guitar hero. Click , clicks , click , clicks👏👏👏👏👍. Great video man.
I’ve never been to Sweetwater in person, but I’ve been a customer of Sweetwater for years. They are my go to company for any gear I need. No one can beat their customer service!
I have. It’s amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's the same for Thomann for the rest of the world, espacially the EU.
Killed it Dave! Such an awesome trip! 🔥
I've always loved Pearl Drums. And a lot of their hardware. I used to have a 360 kit with their racks. They were sturdy enough for me to stand on and not bow.
I've only ever owned Pearl kits (though my main workhorse snare is a Stanbridge custom built).
Aww shucks, David, you're too kind! Thanks for the shoutout!
Owning a high end kit with k series cymbals is my dream. I can't even afford seeing all this stuff right now 😀. Thanks David for showing the musicians heaven 👍.
Glad you had fun at Gearfest! I am hoping to go one year and be able to meet Nick D'Virgilio and you and other UA-cam drummers. After being diagnosed with Acute Flaccid Myelitis and going home from the hospital having to use a walker, I had to relearn how to play the kit with what I could do. Love your videos, and I hope I could meet you soon!
24" K Light Ride is the GOAT! solid bell, clear stick action, but also the most gargantuan crash.
Hey David…. Just want to say how much I enjoy your videos! I’m from Berkeley, CA but I now live in central France. I’ve found a fantastic drum shop in Paris….a 2.5 hour drive. Used gear is less plentiful on ebay and alott of it comes from the US and the shipping often costs more then the product. Here I have lots of space and neighbors are far enough away and they are all wine makers. Sock lay blue! Keep up the good work!
Awesome vid man, you did a perfectly fine vlog! Also, I like the zildjian ride best as well!
Just recently bought that Matt McGuire snare and I absolutely love it.
That ride cymbal Bryce settled on is the very same cymbal that convinced me to go Zildjian. I build my entire cymbal setup around it and have never looked back.
2:57 that Brazilian phrase was really good
8:17 That closed hat is so perfect
I need to go there so bad! Looks incredibly fun.
DOOD IVE NEVER HEARD THE HALO SOUNS RECREATED SO PERFECTLY WHAT A MASTERPIECE
Yes
Ayyyye, you caught Joshua Crawford on the kit outside at the end 👍 I dug Adam T's description and reasoning on his ride cymbal choice 😂
you have a fun style of playing drums that inspires me to also want to play. cheers
It’s hilarious how David always seems to underestimate himself behind the kit. Dude is the epitome of playing in the pocket and super concrete fundamentals.
Ever restored an old Rogers kit? I had a 70's kit once. At least I think they were 70's. The Rogers logo was lettered in on size and went slightly diagonal, like cursive. They had a unique sound especially the Dynasonic snare. I believe the "big R" logo was from the 80's.
Great video! Thx! Where can i find the video about the „stolen“ tuning you mentioned?
There is a grocery shop not so far away in Cincinnati called Jungle Jim’s. If it’s not there, they can get it from anywhere. Sweetwater is like the same model, fun, petting zoo, games. A great place for music addicts and the guitar tech shop is top shelf.
The acoustics in there were amazing
I’d love to see you play the megabell ride from Zildjian
0:51 the return of silent dave? 😳
I feel so lucky to live within a half hour of sweetwater
Nice vid like to see more vlogging stuff that’s not really organized but is
I love living 10 minutes from Sweetwater.
I have the Yamaha Dtx8 with the tcs silicone pads and they are by far the best feeling electric drum pads ever imo. I hate e kits but this one actually feels good to play
I didn't know you played Marimba! Make a video on playing Stevens grip on kit!! 4 DRUM STICKS PLAYING DRUMS!!!
When you're trying to play Rockband quietly with the boys when everyone else is asleep. *INTENSE CLICKING*
Wow.. It sounds like a drum . . . amazing my 25 year old entry level yamaha stage custom sounds just as good as "premium" drum set
rdavidr do you think you could do a video of snare tones, so some of us baddies can replicate reso tones/batter tones, to get better snare sounds. Maybe even tom sounds too?
I've been trying to find good reference tones to tune my kit too and it's really hard to find.
Oof...the k cons give me the best goose bumps every time...can't wait to afford those..
Was just about to say the 22" Zildjian K Constantinople Medium Thin Low or my personal favorite the 22" Zildjian K Custom High Definition Ride, nice choice! lol
I’ve been watching you for a long time
I remember in the mid 00's surround mixing for music and the atmos prototype was going to be the new hotness. It went nowhere and I hope it stays that way.
My god... sweetwater owns everyone...
I think I'm done shopping with them
Fun stuff!
I’d love to visit this place
Thank you Sweetwater!
Is David Cola an alien? Great drummer!
Not me but wish I could and also visit the pearl headquarters in Nashville and drum center of Portsmouth to but since I’m in San Antonio Texas we do have our very own awesome local drum shop here big shout out to Jeff Ryders drum shop 🥁🥁🥁🥁
thumbs up for the racquetball court blood gulch cut
Waw.. amazing.. interesting 🥁🔥🙏
I cant getmover hownthat singing gave me flashbacks to gof of war
I want to get the red black drum set
Nice! Wonder if you met my old friend Nick Tamez, he works there too, and is a drummer.
Was there any marching instruments there? That's really what I'm into and would love to find a place that has the same passion for marching drums.
Thanks for the cool videos 👍👍👍
What products that I can look at for Hi hats foot pedals that line up with bass drum padel instead of being off to the side on its own stand so what do you suggest? Sometime that mounts to the bass drum right next to the bass drum panel so not having to sway away so far?
This is a confusing request, but I think you might be looking for a remote hi-hat stand. Pearl Redline remote hi hat stand has removable legs and it stands up perfectly fine without the legs from my experience so you could slap it anywhere you want. You'd just need a clamp to mount the hats somewhere on your kit.
Every ride bryce sampled from advice given didn't please my ears until he was sampling the one he chose. Even though you were talking over that part, that one sounded perfect!
Too bad its almost $700😕
It looks just like a Telefunken u-47
wish i had acoustic drums 💀
Wow the one (ride) he chose was my favorite
YO ZACK GROOVES
Can you do a review on the Ludwig element evolution.
POV: you walk into the silent rhythm room with no context 😂
Excelsior.
@rdavidr how did you like the Alesis kit??
but but , but....MOAR CANDY
Wish Sweetwater had a UA-cam like video site where they could make money from the advertising and I think it would be more organized and better for creators financially. Also would like to hear more about their music education division. Perhaps we should be recommending Sweetwater for education rather than a college, etc.?
Uh no please, that sounds like waaaytoo much sweatwater
Been there, done that, dropped lots of money but got good stuff. And how about that bag of candy on ship orders.
1:04 T🕴️
That snare with the vents reminds me of girls belts back in high school lol
Have you ever heard of thomann? They´re even bigger! Eventhough located in europe, Germany...
Certainly a rhythm room, but I don’t know about “silent” 😂
The shades tho...
PEARL....THE BEST REASON TO PLAY THE DRUMS....
Goddammit, why did nobody tell me I needed a Sales Engineer? I might have got more gigs... Cheers.
You may get additional discounts.
Ik this was. Long time ago but if you still have the kids drum set I would like to purchase it
David is the only pro
this makes me sad knowing that this store doesn't exist in my country
Many talented drummers...and Casey.
This is a real Pearl Igniter moment
Savage 😅
Sad but true
holy shit one sticky sided mutes
Watched for a few seconds and idk what to say
this dude walked into sweetwater..one of the most known music stores in the world and told them to fix their hihat and give him a tuning key🤣 6:41
Can't believe you went to Lil Wayne's zoo, that's so frickin cool!!
@3:35 “Halpern”
i just bought a new set of drums from sweetwater, not happy. some of the hardware was stripped and the tom had a damn hole in it.
where is it?
When you're watching a rdavidr video and you randomly see one of your old drumming buddies (@11:39) overselling Zildjian because that's his job. 🤣
Side note; that K Special Dry ride sounds terrible!
At 5:21 I have got to say that its a funny joke
i kept thinking that guy with the beard was jonah hill ctfu
12:40 does anyone know what that hi hat is called?
Still waiting on the 700 vents video
Beats by J Black, Elephant in the room spotted.
Is that coop
You didn’t mention the great eateries.
Just noticed it wasn't "Streetwater"
I live about an hour from Ft Wayne. I have to stay away or I'll flat out junkie out and blow my savings. It's kinda what heaven might be like.
sweetwater event and didn't have half of those cymbals xD
I like drones
Shout out to Mike Winebrenner (my Sweetwater guy)
sooo same thing that happened to samus666 happened on your youtube with the fee drumset
hey man can you test a theory for me? My theory is that if you take a cheap hi hat cymbal and put an expensive one on top of it will sound like the expensive one. Can you test this for me? thanks
People have been doing hi hat combos for decades. This isn't really something that can be tested, every combo will sound different.
