This is my boyfriend's favorite meal. I made it for him yesterday and he LOVED it! It was his first vegan lasagna and according to him, it tasted exactly the same as non-vegan ones. I love it too
Just made this tonight and it was a hit, even with my kids! Two of them even had seconds. I forgot to get tahini and used unsweetened almond butter instead which I couldn't taste at all when it was done haha thanks again!
I made this today and even my non-vegan husband loved it! I didn’t have Gardien crumbles and I was too lazy to go to the market. I had only three small shiitake mushrooms that I chopped up and put in the sauce. It was a delicious lasagna. I would only want more mushrooms next time. I don’t think I missed the Gardien crumbles. Thank you for this amazing recipe!
I’m making this again tonight for my 1 year anniversary with my boyfriend. He requested this for tonight as he’s doing Veganuary.. so just know your recipes are the bomb! ❤️✌🏻🌱😋
Aw. I missed doing this too. I was worried you folks didn't like this style too much because you can't see the food as well as the voiceover style videos.
I made a vegan lasagna with tofu ricotta for my omnivore husband a couple months ago and actually he liked it a lot. Just so people know it's not just good for a vegan lasagna, it's still just good.
PREVENT SPLATTERING: Pour your spaghetti sauce into the pan by first allowing the sauce to pour onto the spoon first, allowing the sauce to run off the spoon into the pan (hold the spoon at slight angle pointing downward). By breaking the fall straight into the pan, it helps prevent splashing. Recipe looks great! Thanks!
When Alix got married a little over a year ago we catered here wedding and made two GIGANTIC pans of a recipe similar to this we have on our blog. Plus 2 giant pans of sweet potato casserole, 2 huge batches of chili, 2 giant cornbread stuffings, and more stuff. It was epic and amazing. And took so much time. Haha. Yours looks incredible!
I am a new vegan and am so happy I found your video! You are fun, funny and real!! This lasagna looks delicious!! Can't wait to make it and also check out your other recipes!!
I'm officially addicted to your channel! I love how simple and delicious your recipes look! I'm going to be making this lasagna tomorrow. My boyfriend is also not vegan, so that will be the real taste test. Thank you so much for sharing
That's awesome! I hope you like them :) I'm just uber lazy haha, but I like good food. I hope he likes it! Every omni I've ever fed this to has been impressed that it's vegan
Thanks so much for sharing Lisa. I've honestly never had vegan lasagna and so I definitely need to try this. Oh my gosh "it's spaghetti cake" hahah so true!! thanks for sharing
The Viet Vegan hahaha love it! That's too funny! Oh I know it'll be SO good! Just another week on my juice cleanse then I'm making this and like everything you've posted in Jan! Lol.
+Lady B both my ex AND Eddie do it! It's ridiculous haha 🙈🙈 for people who love eating food handfuls at a time, I am honestly baffled as to why they preferred smaller spoons
I'm 6'2" 230lbs. I prefer the small spoon. Makes you feel like a giant and I am so used to being the "Big Spoon" in relations that the small spoon is a little side treat, if that makes sense? It may not be "Manly" to most, but, sometimes feeling cute is nice.
I absolutely love pasta but vegan lasagna is the best! I've never tried it with vegan ricotta tho, I always use a vegan béchamel sauce. I'll give your recipe a try! Btw you're absolutely right with the ''food for the week''-part 😂
I made this years ago when she first posted it and it was soooo delicious!! I had everyone meat eaters included asking for more lol I’m afraid to make it again because idk if I can make it as good as the first time 😅
Excellent! Im trying this in my crockpot minus the tahini.. Actually beans wouldnt be too weird if you used refried beans which when heated can be spread... Especially if you made a south western themed lasagne..
I think I read too much Garfield as a kid because lasagna is also one of my favourite foods. I always wing my lasagnas with whatever veggies I need to use up in my fridge, but my husband always loves each one. I haven't seen the Gardein crumbles yet (I use TVP in my lasagnas) but once I find it I will definitely give it a try! The tofu ricotta I do is Happy Herbivore's version with a handful of fresh spinach added (or whatever salad greens I have on hand except romaine/iceberg). Great vid as usual!
I should learn to just use TVP haha, it's way cheaper than the crumbles haha. Hope you like this lasagna if you do try it! I mean, you can never really go wrong with lasagna XD
Omg I've been searching for an easy lasagna vegan meal and girl this video made me subscribe to you. You are ridiculously honest and hilarious 😂 #breathoffreshair
I just made some pretty good tofu. Cayanne pepper Salt Pepper Olive oil Pan fried for maybe 10-15 mins Going to freeze half the block and see what I can do with it
Mmmm I haven't made lasagna in a long time. You've got me wanting to make it now. I eat with small spoons too. I don't consider them desert spoons though. Those are actually even tinier.
Hey Lisa, We are on some type of similar wavelength lately as I am making Lasagna tonight in the middle of Summer, but oh well..actually while I was back in Minnesota hubs made a crap ton of red sauce and I am cleaning out the freezer. Anyway, I am verging on starting a blog etc. and keep waffling and today something happened that convinced me I have to do it. Then I saw your ceiling camera and how amazing your video was and felt even more inspired. Thanks so much for posting this, I needed a kick in the pants--or 7!=D Your Lasagna looks lovely BTW!
I haven't been working since I moved to NZ b/c I had some pretty huge health issues that needed to be dealt with and now I am trying to figure out again what I want to be when I grow up. The world is my oyster right now, nothing fancy but I don't have to work. I want to put my recipes out there, but I need a kick in the jaxy to get started! I LOVE that you read all of your comments, and somehow I now you will when you hit it big! That's one of the many reasons I am such a big fan of yours=) 100K girl, you can do it!!
I loved it, my girls loved it and my husband loved it!! Thanks so much!! Looking forward to other great recipes....even though I am an omni (shhh). Lol!
TFS Viet Vegan, I never boil my pasta, I just layer it and make certain my sauce is hot and that every noodle is covered. You can add extra water to sauce and it turns out perfectly.....if you get the recipe for vegan bechamel sauce would you share it?
Yeah! I've seen that work before, lots of lasagna noodles are made to work like that too :) Gluten-free noodles take a while to cook though so I didn't want to risk it in this recipe. My baked mac and cheese is sort of a bechamel, you can use the base of that sauce for a bechamel lasagna if you'd like. thevietvegan.com/vegan-creamy-baked-mac-and-cheese/
Anybody using TVP for anything really if you want to make something beefy but you don't want it to stay really light soak your as you would and add some gravy Browning. Colors it right up and looks just like minced meat. I also made this lasagna recipe with half beefless ground and half little black French lentils which end up brown sort of dark brown when they are cooked. This recipe is fabulous! And I'm not a lasagna lover. A pan of this with frozen meals gave me eight meals. I kept 3 in the fridge and 5 in the freezer I still have three in the freezer but I vacuum seal my food so it will last a good long time.
Nothing wrong with putting your own twist on a traditional recipe! Since I'm part Italian, lasagna is one of the dishes we always make on holidays (Christmas, etc.) :) I'm part Lebanese too... so, there's lots of foods we eat on holidays that aren't the "traditional" dishes.
Yumm!!! I love making lasagna! I have made some twice for potlucks at work, and both times got many compliments 😃 I was so happy when co-workers told me they didn't even realize it was vegan. It is just as delicious as what they were used to, and like you said, dispells the myth that vegan food isn't tasty 😁

@@Thevietvegan FIVE STARS!!!! Holy shit, girl! This is LEGIT. Made it last night. My 7 year old son gave me 20 fingers and toes up!! I love watching you cook! You should take recipe requests, where you pic a viewers recipe and try it out. Cooking became fun in my vegan years and I just crack up at all your insights during the process! ( a new food line called, "white people's (fill in the blank) would be funny). My mother in law and I use to battle rice. I introduced her to the rice cooker and she insisted that Uncle Ben's rice was the only way to go. Poor lost soul will never know the beauty of never burning one's rice! :)
Ooooh! I wonder if one could make like a nacho type lasagna. Or er well that's probably just a nacho casserole lol. But instead of pasta, some sort of corn situation and then instead of italian stuff, use beans and salsa and stuff. Okay I need to go eat lol
I'm confused about tahini. I see everyone on youtube using tahini and it's this beautiful silky soft delight. But every jar (or can) of tahini I've bought, it's a hard thick rock at the bottom with an ocean of oil on top that cannot be mixed together, and I am 9 times out of 10 unable to break away any tahini from the bottom. This isn't just me using one brand once or twice, this is me buying SEVERAL different brands on different occasions and it being like that.
Since it's a natural seed butter, if it sits for an amount of time it'll separate from the oil. So what I tend to do (and this works for all natural nut/seed butters), I just mix it all up really well when I first buy it, then store it in the fridge and it shouldn't separate unless you let it sit in there for months at a time =P (also THANK YOU for all your lovely comments on my videos, I haven't had a chance to respond to them yet
Thanks! I found your vids on Saturday when I watched your Tofurkey Roast video. I had bought one to have for Easter and was watching reviews. Well, I did eat it for Easter yesterday, and then threw it all up today. So, I'm home sick from work and have just been binge watching your videos! Hahaha.
Okay, so as a middle-eastern I gotta put this to rest, it seems like what you’ve got is raw tahini, which is 100% ground sesame. It is super heavy and oily and has a very dense nutty taste. Color is similar to almond butter. This actually what people in the Middle East would use. Because it is the base - some like to eat it raw but commonly you would dilute just a few spoons of it with ice cold water and some lemon juice to create the soft silky pale tahini dressing most of y’all probably know. So actually, this would be the real thing, while Tahini that you’ll buy diluted and seasoned will be considered “White People tahini”.
I haven't ever seen seasoned tahini here, the tahini i prefer i add water and lemon juice to, but straight out of the tub, its 100% ground sesame but it's really fine and silky (once stirred) compared to some of the dense chunky stuff i see sold in Western stores.
That spinach/tofu mixture was so delicious!! I will be using that in other dishes!
Did this yesterday, came out fabulous, thank you so much 😁👍

The Viet Vegan Just out of curiosity, why are you Gluten-free now?
Havel Abdiel Abadia-Isaac she said it in the video that she is intolerance to gluten
Ook
Havel Abdiel Abadia-Isaac oh no sry not intolerance but she do it because of her skin.
I want to make it after watching your video
I hope you did! It's delicious :)
Great video! 💛 That tofu ricotta looks really good! I love lasagna, and make it pretty often (the Italian side of me coming through haha)

It's a game changer :D Definitely can be used in so many different applications too!
at what temperature did you bake this? the website does not state it
Its the first step! 400F
was the tofu you used flavored?
Yeah I had some herbs in it, but I mentioned that in the written recipe + some herbs to add in if you don't have an herbed tofu :)
Ah sorry. I should have viewed the recipe. This looks great and will definitely try it soon:)
Where do you get the gluten free ground rounds in the GTA? I can never seem to find them ANYWHERE it's so annoying :/
Also- gonna make this on the weekend for my family! So excited :D
I get mine from Whole Foods :) A lot of Loblaws and Sobeys carry Gardein too, so if you don't see it, ask customer service if they can stock it!
Omg tahini in ricotta?😍😍😍
Yeah! It gives it a really nice richness :D
I need this in my life right nowwwww
for some reason the idea of tahini in lasagna sounds strange, does it give it a sesame flavor?
Not a huge amount, its to help give the ricotta a cheesy flavour. It's not suuuper noticeable :)

Hahaha.
My brother eats his food with a dessert fork. I call it a baby fork. He calls the normal fork that I eat with a pitchfork. LOL
autumnsylver same here, I hate the big forks
YUM
Pretty much sums it up :)
TVP Is an amazing cheap meat substitute.
