I have this car and the xf supercharged v8. I opted for the supercharged v6 because of mpg. The car doesn't sound bad and it has passing power. It quieter, but you do hear the whining of the supercharger. Yes the start/stop feature is annoying because it shakes a little on start up, but it's a nice feature to have still. I've test driven the Audi A8 (wish for the s8), bmw 7 series and Mercedes S class. Neither felt more fitted to the car than the xj. Although all other ICE features are better. I didn't drive the 3 long enough to get a proper feel but from the first few test drives, the xj felt better to me. Not mention the cabin is so much better in the xj with a slight down fall to head room in the back and boot space.
what year do u have and how long u had it? also did it give u any problems. I know years ago when the XType was popular, alot of people complained about the mechanical problems they have. my father had one and he got rid of it, because it kept costing him money. Let me know if urs gave u any problems yet. Thanks...
I , having owned many jaguars do not agree that exhaust noise defines jaguarness. RIDE , in a Jaguar, any Jaguar is one of the most important attributes most folk look for in a Jaguar , especially as the people that tend to own these car's are more likely to be in their 5o's , dare I say it 60's like me , also I suspect many of these owners car's are chauffered , wedding and funeral car's etc ... I LOVE the sound of the big supercharged jaguar saloons and sport cars and would love to own one , but in the 'real' world these V8 s/charged beauty's are bought by millionaire pistonheads , entrepreneurs etc , owned for a short while and sold on to those people that will cherish and garage these cars very rarely to be seen on the road unless it's going to a show etc... I would still LOVE to own one though , who knows I may one day be one of those that rarely drives it , especially in anger , but I could see myself cherishing one (if that word exists? )..dusting it off for the occasional jaguar owners club do etc etc....
Beautiful car , defiantly progressing , still needs some refinement . Guess it needed a less mpg engine . I suppose they could have made it sound better, than it does. Hate the stop start system , would never have it , so that does limit my selection of cars , but some have it , where you can shut it up , completely . If I can afford a Jaguar XJ , I should be able to run it.
Thank goodness my Mazda6 does not have the start stop system. Yes, l know it is a gas saving feature, but l am not a fan of it. I would have the dealer override it, disconnect it, remove it, whatever it takes.

I just bought the v6 version today waiting for it too get shipped here I hope it's not as bad as this guy made it sound
the jag is the best out of the super saloons and looks the best
Perhaps there are a number of folks who appreciate the more understated approach of the V6. Not myself, but I'm sure there are a few.

You are filming around Grosse Pointe, MI. I also film a lot of my car reviews there.
According to all other auto journalists, this XJ is markedly more nimble than the seven series. But you say it is not, Autoweek man.
@allenmovies Yes; but it defaults to 'on' each time the car is started.
I like how americans make coments on a european car for going to a smaller engine when in europe the entire market is ruled by the 4 cilender engines
This not supposed to sound like a muscle car. This is luxury car.
the video image is too poor, you need to fix it more
lol, absoulutely not. This one is boss. it takes over the street with its amazing tail lights and huge front grille
arjen robben?
???
Just wish he had properly shut the hood before the review started. It's clearly not fully latched on the right side.
What would you say about V6 DIESEL XJ that most people in Europe buy?
Probably: "I wish I have a 3.0 supercharged petrol"
only in usa, not in england and the rest of europe. But you could always ask the dealer to remove it
Really annoys me that the 2013 model has Jaguar written under the Jaguar logo in the back. Anyone agree?
it happens with reviewers on the new F-type too
nothing like a V8

sputnic - "If I can afford a Jaguar XJ , I should be able to run it. "
Yeah, but can the planet afford it?

Nice to see you behind the wheel, too bad your cat was neutered. I'll say it, this is a girls car.
Maybe they should bring back just the Supersport V8 XJ. Just to keep the petrol heads(Americas, read: Gearheads) happy.
have you seen it in real life?
The cat looks a bit blah. Bring back the sharp good looks.
Give the man his v8 and lets get out of here
The older Jag XJ was so much better looking
Press car..
Maybe he should've had an v8,hahaha
Jag. U. Ar not jagwuar fuck me
