  • January 1, 2022 - The City of Lewiston has ten full-time street employees and three full-time traffic employees who work hard to make sure our roadways are safe throughout the year. These talented and dedicated crew members work alternating 12-hour shifts and they are responsible for clearing and maintaining just over 500 lane miles of roads. Watch this video to get a glimpse inside the cab of a snowplow and to learn about what these employees go through and how we can help to not only make their jobs easier but to keep everyone on the road safe.

@@jimmyssnowremoval1075 I actually enjoyed driving the 2500 Cummins plow truck. I did it for 4 years. Then started my plumbing apprenticeship. Did lawn maintenance since I was 12 to 21. My plow my route was 140 residential houses which is a insane amount of work. No kne believes me when I say it. Did it myself alone. Shovel walks and plow alone no salt. All withing 5 square kms. Long nights into days. Longest I did was 34 hours straight.
The lawn maintenance I did also same company. Yes all year round as you mentioned. That sumer heat in Ontario with the humid was killer. I don't miss that.
I cut trim and blow 110 houses a week alone also. I was a straight up machine back in the day. Overworked and underpaid.

Not sure what your comment means but these are city workers they work all summer on road repair, flushing water hydrants, taking care of city parks, traffic sign maintenance, street cleaning. So yeah it's a full time job.
