In cebu you pay 500usd in avida tower for the same sized apartment. Just rent + condo fee. Compared to that its a good deal. I dont know about other apartments in davao though
Nice video. I've been pricing apartments on Craigslist. You can get a feel for prices that way and know what to expect. Here my apartment faces North and my porch stays shaded. There i would guess you want it facing South?
Gio, are there also places near the ocean in Davao that would make sense for an expat? Or only in the approximate area where you got a place? Just wondering why you didn’t get a place on or closer to the water.
I'm just comparing it to places I've stayed in Thailand. Essentially you spend double on rent in the Philippines versus Thailand. And electric is double too because even in these modern hi-rise buildings, they use low efficiency window units instead of mini-splits. And with current exchange rates, you'd essentially be paying about $650 month + $100 electric bill (minimum) versus a much wider selection in all parts of Thailand where that unit would be $300 + $50 electric. Plus in Thailand, 200 Mb/s internet costs $22/month and is widely available even without an annual contract. And I've never experienced an electrical outage in Thailand, ever. Thanks Gio. It's always helpful to see these type of videos. Why apartments & hotels in PHP are so expensive is beyond my comprehension. Personally I'd lean toward the drastically better infrastructure, much wider selection of short & mid-term rentals, way better food, and better health care of Thailand over the Philippines.
Gio how does this compare to Cebu ? Cost wise remember it includes Electric, Cable TV, Water and Internet. What did this all total including rent in Cebu ?
A Bachelor in Paradise wow thats cool 😎 So are you going to base your self in Davao for a while? 5k a month is a good saving and will add up over the long term 💰💰💰😉
A Bachelor in Paradise what I like best about that is for $600 you can budget with ease. You know you’re not going to get a big electricity bill one month etc it’s all paid for you only have to worry about scooter petrol and food 😉
An ongoing concern of mine in condo buildings is noise. Do you have a sense as to whether the mgmt enforces a noise code or not? I visited Cebu city last year and saw samples for two condo buildings near Ayala center mall. I was told that regulations were tightly enforced in one, and that in a second bldg, there was little policing of the occupants, in part because the second bldg allowed Airbnb guests, and there was little way to control transient residents.
That is a great question. No, it is not that tightly regulated but you will find that it is mostly westerners living in condos with their Filipina gf or wife. So usually noise is kept to a minimum and if there is a problem then you tell security to talk to your neighbors to quiet down. Be careful that your condo doesn't back up to a Filipino neighborhood where you will hear karaoke all night :-)
Nice video but really gotta question your judgement that this is a nice place. Both units appeared microscopic in size and grossly overpriced for even Cebu, let alone Davao. The second unit you viewed and liked had the bedroom air conditioner placed to blow the cold air down on your head all night. A place in that price range should have a pool on a higher elevation with a view. The pool and its surrounding area is obviously designed for kids. Not desirable having a lot of little sh*ts running around screaming when you want to relax. You thought the view was nice?! Did you fail to see the squatter area right out front? Would you feel comfortable walking through this area at night?
Well, it was safe and 38sqm is not a bad size for me personally but yea, we all have our own taste. Lot of stores and malls close by but yea, I get it not everyone sees it like I do.
@@GiointhePhilippines thanks for sharing Gio. Everyone has their own likes and dislikes. Having lived in Davao City from 2014-2016, I enjoy seeing your posts regarding DC.
About the air conditioning blowing on your head, Every hotel I stayed at had the A/C situated directly over the head of the bed making you get sick always. You come back to the place after sweating from being outside, and you then get the cold blowing on your head. Crazy. For some reason these 3rd world countries always design their interiors in a very bad design. The bedrooms are too small, there are hallways which simply don't figure in sync with the rest of the interior etc. Same in Costa Rica, very messed up designs, retarded really.
I agree they don't design these units well, I have seen several with the TV on the wall and the sofa is on the same side of the TV, how exactly are you supposed to watch TV that way lol
Haha microscopic...Obviously someone hasn't spent time in the Philippines. 38 square meters is a decent size for the Philippines. Plus if you live alone how much f-in room do you need? If you expect a 2000 square foot place like in the US or need that much room then stay there. Plus if a squatter area scares you then you better stay away from any city in the third world and stay living with mommy!
The local Rabbits will be delighted with their new hutches. A good way of recycling US dollars into the hands of Filipino Condo owners. Not sure exactly how prison cells look in the U.K. but I suspect they aren’t much worse and they are free. Granted you cannot choose your own curtains and you have to brick a few shop windows to be allowed in.
Living in a condo is really expensive especially when its at the heart of the city, I mean the Old downtown of Davao city. That condo is so close to Marco Polo, Royal Mandaya Hotels and Ateneo de Davao University. Hence, ur paying for the location and convenience.

Right and it is what I was comparing it too, but I will take a tour of some other places and post the videos to see what else is out there.
@@hardmtnbiker I find it less expensive overall

Thanks for sharing! yes, if you can find one facing south it is better.
Love davao my hometown i miss it so much have change💕fr tx now
I stayed there in April it was nice everything at your fingertips I think I paid 28 per night through Airbnb
Yea, I like the location!
Wonder what felt like near the top during that 7.0 earthquake recently.
It will just sway.. The taller the building, the safest..
I rented a vrbo in Avida Tower, loved staying there.
Thanks for getting out and about sharing the experience and prices... looks like a good place..
Thanks

I am just here exploring, but there is a place near the Sea Wall, called One Oasis. I will be doing that video in a few days.
Do you still recommend this as a great/best place to stay in Davao ... I'm headed there in Aug .need a good 2 or 3 bedroom
can we just rent for a 3 or 6 month contract?

Thailand is far superior in infrastructure for sure and cost also.

I find prices to be lower by about 5k monthly here.

i am from Davao Gio and investing there now/ Thank you
Can you stop here for one month. Cheers. Dobspato England
How big is it? Maybe 80 m^2?
No maybe 32sqm
mike burns lol. 80meters is a grand palace in SE Asia.
Nice.
It includes parking?
Yes
Can someone reccomend a condo for a month.
So small. I mean tiny. I couldn't live like that

Gamay ug space.. Nindot kai duol sa mga needs n pero d xa worth sa price.. Gamay jd xa.. hahai
Nice👍
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
We all have different price ranges and likes. I like the area and I like that everything is included.
Tiny and overpriced
38sqm and $600 includes WiFi, water, electric and cable TV. In the province yea that would be expensive but in the city that isnt expensive.
