I like that the book explicitly mentions that Anathema felt safe after Crowley called Aziraphale “Angel” likely because she assumed they were a gay couple.
yess i came here to say this! 😄
Also, Neil has (and I think Terry might have too) explicitly said that if it weren't for the fact they're genderless entities, they'd definitely be a gay couple.
@@DyslecticAttack when you're genderfluid, every relatuonship can be gay!
@@DyslecticAttack In fact, no matter what sex they are (or aren't) they would have still fallen in love with each other, because they are soulmates. ❤️
"Who ships it?"
Darling, that ship sails itself.
And more and more each chapter too
Ok but for real.
Aziraphale: "the atmosphere here feels like love."
Crowley, sitting next to Azi: "Hmm, feels just the same as always."
omg I never noticed that 😭
"Who ships it?" Literally the entire fandom, and most people who meet them in universe. We call them "the Ineffable Husbands". An actual quote from the book, and one of my favorites says, "Many people, meeting Aziraphale for the first time, formed three impressions: that he was English, that he was intelligent, and that he was gayer than a treeful of monkeys on nitrous oxide."
Literally everyone realizes it except them.
Heck, the former Satanic nun shipped it too - "Excuse me gentlemen, sorry to break up an intimate moment, what can I help you with?"
I was like "Who doesn't?" LOL
Literally everyone who's ever watched this show: "OH MY GOD CROWLEY IS PUSHING AZIRAPHALE AGAINST THE WALL I CAN'T OH MY GOD!"
Moscow: * oblivious * "Hey, there's that woman in the background! It's her, I'm pretty sure: the nun from before."
She's got different priorities lmao
You ask who ships it: According to the original book, most people meeting Aziraphale and Crowley in-universe even ship them, including Anethema in the scene at 23:20, who basically already takes them for a gay couple when Crowley calls Az an angel as a nickname.
Aziraphale is also described as “... that he was English, that he was intelligent, and that he was gayer than a treeful of monkeys on nitrous oxide”.
So yeah. people have been shipping it since the 90s.
The camera bangs on the window because of newt's bad luck with technology
In the book it explains how War spends her time being the best wartime journalist in the world, because she's always first on the scene...
21:10 Remember, in Episode One she asks Adam's father, "Where were you before you took up this appointment", and he replies "Swindon". Now in Episode Two she says, "Such a nice man. He used to be Ambassador to Swindon." She really is that naiive.
One joke that didn't make it from the book directly into the series is that it's a known natural phenomena that any music cassette (this wasn't a recent book) left in a car for more than a fortnight transforms into a 'Best of Queen' album (at least in the early 90s, this was clearly based on reality). They apparently couldn't find a way to fit it in, but made up for it by including a lot of Queen songs in the soundtrack.
Spoiler?
I think they sort of made up for this in season 2 and the song everyday by buddy holly
also queen only plays when crowley is in the bently
Funny enough they do reference it the soundtrack, with the "The Theme That Got Left in the Car" which is more Queen inspired.
There is a scene where Crowley puts a Mozart CD into his player, and it switches to Queen as he’s crossing the M25.
I feel like by not getting to include this joke they opened up the possibility that Our Car just has almost as big a crush on Freddy as on Aziraphale
David Tennant is 52 years of age. But regardless of that fact he is still an incredibly good looking man. That's just a fact.
To be fair, he was probably 46 at the time of filming in 2017-18.
But yes, regardless, *wow*.
Well most men look better as they age I think .
That said, DT will forever be a glorious human being and an actor worth watching!
@@livb6945 Eh, that really heavily depends on the individual. Some people age gracefully, some people age terribly and some people just don't seem to age.
My grandmother used to say that some people are “so heavenly minded that they’re no earthly good”. That really describes the angels and demons in this show. They have no idea about what humanity is like. They don’t know what porn is. They barely understand reproduction (it’ll come up at some point….. not telling you when). They are so focussed on their own agenda, and absolutely clueless about anything else.
On the topic of your fake spoilers-- Neil Gaiman has a tumblr where he answers fan asks regularly, and any time someone asks him what'll happen in the future of the series he answers with ridiculous absurdities, mostly having to do with Crowley and Aziraphale having wives named Dottie and Sadie, people being replaced with Fennec foxes, and so on. He tags them "special spoilers". It just makes me smile that what Gaiman does to deflect people trying to pry into his writing is so similar to what you do to deflect people trying to spoiler you~
I always thought the camera bumping into the window instead of flowing in like you (we) expect is because everything breaks around Newt. LOL It's so double-layered this show.
One of my favorite jokes at the time was that Aziraphale was posing as a bookseller, but could never bear to sell any of his (very special) books. 😄😉
I love how you noticed how Crowley deliberately stepped on the grass. It took me a couple of watches to notice that myself!
*I like to think that the reason the camera bumped into the window on Newt's childhood scene is because "devices" breakdown around him (including irl 4th wall breaker ones) and what do you know? Anathema's last name just so happens to be... It's always been my theory.*
This was based on a book written in partnership, by the late Terry Pratchett and Neil Gailman.
Terry Pratchett is famous for biting political commentary, and comedy. You were asking why the writing was so good, it was because two legendary writers wrote the book, and Neil Gailman created this series! 🥳
Cant't wait for you to see the doctor who crossover episode where the tenth doctor and crowley impersonate each other.
I love how mad the Doctor gets because Crowley is a ginger.
We all saw in the first episode how the demons brag to eachother about the ways they have tempted humans to evil. So Crowley's outburst at Azeraphale over being called "nice" says something about the consequences of being a demon who isn't all that bad of a person.
Crowley spends a lot of time just watching Aziraphale enjoy a meal.
Hey everyone! Remember to keep the comments free of any spoilers of future episodes for Mosco. Have fun & be creative with fake spoilers! Also, make sure we’re keeping the comments cool & comfortable for everyone here. Enjoy the reaction y’all!!!
Morgan Terry definitely ships the shit out of them
Ha ha! Don't we all? ❤
Hell, the authors shipped it.
it's impossible to not ship them, they've got such a great dynamic
They are literally the ancient Greek myth for soulmates, as they were going to be one character in the book and then got split into two 😅🥰
My friend read the book and watched it with me, and on one of the final episodes of s1 said, "wait, are they a thing?" Worst gaydar ever!
You wouldn't know it from the casual reference in this episode but ducks are going to save the world. #ducks
Lucifer is that you?
I'll be the one to say it......David Tennant is a VERY sexy man.....we're all thinking it, and its very much true
I'm straight and I'll be the first to admit it.
Being attracted to David Tennant doesn't mean I'm bisexual, it means I'm right.
David Tennant is 😍😍😍🔥🔥🔥 and I'm a straight woman, so why do I find Davina so damned attractive? 😮😮😮
ua-cam.com/video/T1MugMmjaoY/v-deo.htmlsi=oBnwmeSc0H7ZiFPz
Yes! That IS David Tennant! 😂😂😂
@@AlexGoldhill whether one is attracted to men or not, David Tennant is extremely attractive, and that's just fact
im just gunna say it there both very attractive! did you see Michael in twilight! 😅
Oh you are going to love Dottie and Sadie!
this is my favorite joke
oh my god not to mention the antics with the "gorilla"
@@AmandaBee Wait, I thought it was an orangutan? Or was that a different episode?
I love how Crowley's car transforms into a robot... until Newt gets near it and it falls apart!
Listening to you predicting how these shows will play out makes me think that you should write a book of nice and accurate prophecies.
Also, stay tuned for Crowley's car talking
I feel like giving it David Hasselhoff's voice was weirdly on the nose though.
Yes! The Bentley's commentary is always on point!
Is that before or after he turns it into a flaming chariot?
No that's after
21:21 Yup, she totally thought Mr Young was the American ambassador ^^
I just cannot recommend the original book enough, it's so good you have no idea, and while the show it's not a perfect 1:1 it's still one of the best adaption ever in my opinion!
Also, the music... I don't think people talk enough about the OST but it's just so fucking GOOD. That guitar riff rearrangement of the main theme as they presented War send shiver down my spines... the Four Horsemen are maybe my favourite element of the mythology reinterpreted in the story, can't wait to see you meet them all!
Obligatory fake spoiler: The best part is when they meet their iconic sidekicks Grievous Bodily Harm, Cruelty to Animals, Really Cool People and People Covered in Fish.
Haha, is it even *truly* fake? Lol
The character of War is loosely based on Kate Adie - the BBCs correspondent from a lot of war zones (back when the book was written) - to the extent that there was cartoon at the time to the effect that a war couldn't start until she'd arrived.
If it helps, Aziraphale's name isn't as hard as people tend to think it is when they first see/hear it. If you say "a zero fell" quickly, that's his name! 😁
a-ZERO-fell = Aziraphale
It's "ale" at the end though. Not fell. Azira-fail. That's what I've always heard myself.
@@cathyaldridge4550You're right, but I've always found "fell" easier to remember a) for the pun, and b) because it's his human surname (A.Z. Fell). When you say the name fast enough, there's not much difference between the "fail" and "fell" anyway lol
@@montanarose-sings Ahhh, OK. Sounds reasonable. Now you got me thinking about that pun.
This one is definitely one of my personal favorites, mostly thanks to how much setup it does for the Ferris Wheel episode. You’ll see when you get to it, but fair warning: it’ll be one of the episodes of all time :3
i got so emotional during that episode!! 😭
what do you mean by "ferris wheel episode"? I've seen all of the serie but I don't understand.
@@amizielamy5051fake spoilers :3
Just play into it :p
@@amizielamy5051in an effort to avoid real spoilers Moscow has her fans leave fake ones so she never knows what is true or not. Also it's fun.
@@Bookconsumer thank you, I though it was a specific term like a christmas episode or a cliffhanger.
It's Good Omens. Of course we ship Aziraphale and Crowley!!! They're absolutely precious together.
This is such a fun show. The humor of Terry Pratchett with the characterization of Neil Gaiman and the worldbuilding genius of both.
Mosco: "They are very cute. Who ships this?"
o/ Me. I do. Especially after season 2
"She's the horse of the the..."
😂
❤
I don't have to ship it. I need only observe, and be correct.
Someone may have posted this, but this series is based on a book by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. Neil Gaiman was the head writer for the televised adaptation. Crowley is very much based on Neil and Aziraphale is very much based on Terry. :)
Well crowley is based on a lot of things Gaiman did. Pratchett just chose to be identified as Aziraphale so if a mob of angry people would come knocking at their doors they would know he's the good one. At least that's my understanding from how I've heard Neil talk about it
My god, Newton Pulsifer turning out to be Satan disguised as a human so that he could keep an eye on Crowley and see where his allegiances truly lie was the _best twist ever!_ Oh my god, and in season 2 when God did the same by pretending to be Human Maggie? I just can't believe they got me with the same plot-twist twice! It's like, you don't expect it a second time!
Why are you posting stupid, fake spoilers?
@@letolethe3344 1. Be nice
2. Mosco asked us too so that she can't tell which ones are real or fake
3. It's fun
@@letolethe3344 Mosco asks us to post fake spoilers. She finds them fun to read.
Most of the reactors I've watched have shipped them. A few have just liked the "great friendship" they have (which they do have).
Jack Whitehall also plays Thou-Shalt-Not-Commit-Adultery Pulsifier btw. not only the decendant. Hard to recognice him in the costume though the first time around
Now I wanna see you react to the Hogfather, definitely the topmost Terry Pratchett adaptation IMO.
YES THIS!
Ship Happens
This show is so random but in the best way. Like i loved the part where crowley scared his plants into sentients so they could help him fight the horseman
8:40 you should watch Mel Brooks movies, he does that a lot
27:16 me who knows how the show ends: 👀 sure… let’s just say it *✨DEFINITELY✨* doesn’t get darker going forward
Men in Tights is a glorious example of it.
@@brianl8481 men in tights, spaceballs, a lot of them really. Although they need to watch blazing saddles in or to get 1 of the jokes & while I think it’s an okay movie that definitely pokes fun at American history & bigotry, it might be a bit much for their Chanel (aka: there’s going to need to be a *✨LOT✨* of editing done)
My new favorite genre of UA-cam video is people watching this show for the first time.
Also, one thing I took from the book that was lost in the show was that I spent my teenagerhood and onward blaming crowley for mass inconveniences. Planned obsolescence? GDI CROWLEY. highway closed and route unnecessarily out of my way? WTF CROWLEY. My favorite ____ made unnecessary worse? Y THO CROWLEY.
I haven't since he channeled david tennant, tho. David is pretty.
lol, I did the same with Jaskier, “DAMMIT JASKIER!!”
He is pretty, indeed, but I and lots of other GO fans still blame stuff on Crowley all the time lol
@@seileach67 I'm weak. 30 seconds on the screen and I was like. Oh. Eve, girl, no notes, would have dont the same.
In the book:
1) Agnes did not have just gunpowder on her. She also had nails, an other scraps of metal, effectively turning her into an Improvised Explosive Device when they set her on fire.
2) Because of her ability to see the (sort of) see the future, Agnes took up jogging.
This review is making me want to read the book again.
Also, interesting that they did not try to keep one of the horsemen a secret, although I question if Mosco noticed.
The show does mention roofing nails in her undergarments
Me too, but my brother has my copy ☹️
Who's Mosco?
@@letolethe3344 wee lass
@@letolethe3344 It's the name Wee Lass goes by. The person who is reacting to the show.
I really love this show, and I'm glad more people are watching it.
can't wait to see you react the the part where Crowley gets a pet snek 🐍
Zira might sound pompous when he says it, but he's kind of right about evil foundering on the rocks of its own iniquity, just recall in ep 1 when Crowley blocked the cell phone lines and had to seek out a payphone to call Zira 😅
Also, I cannot recommend reading the book version of the paintball scene with Aziraphale and Crowley getting shot enough, it's like a 1000x funnier 🤣🤣🤣
I adore Zira and Crowley's dynamic so much and pretty much everyone ships them (just look at Michael Sheen in interviews after s1 😊)
Just in case you didn't realize, Jack Whitehall also played Thou-shall-not-commit-adultery Pulsifer.
I love how many of the little jokes you catch (like the Apple reference) that most viewers miss on their first watch 😊
Can't wait to see what you think of the rest of the season 😊
Can't wait till the episode when Agnes Nutter returns leading a marching band.
No other pair could have played these two characters so well, the chemistry is perfect. I can't wait for you to see the next episode :D
"The Scriptwriter for this is genius!" Indeed he is. His name is Neil Gaiman, and he's possibly the best storyteller of his generation.
I love love love david tennant’s snaky strut
"Who was on the other side of that line?" That would have been Mr. Exposition... ;)
Don't worry, we ALL ship it!
I'm so glad you like these characters! I can't wait until you meet Sadie and Dottie, who are Azi and Crowley's wives 😊
Were they played by fennec foxes or squirrels? I can never remember.
@@mangaanimefan3089well, David Tennant is just five fennec foxes in a trenchcoat
I think David once said that if anybody _didn't_ ship Crowley and Azi, then he and Michael had failed at their jobs! Or words to that effect. ☺
"The script-writer for this is genius." Why yes, yes he is. And well-renowned for it too.
Fun fact: in the book the intro to War happens in a pub on a disputed-territory island in the Mediterranean. There's a lot of good dialogue there that the show didn't have time for.
"Who ships it?" Everyone. Literally Everyone.
@9:00 "So he's the great [etc] grandson of this adulterer." Just to be clear, the guy's NAME is "Thou-Shalt-Not-Commit-Adultery," he isn't an actual adulterer. The full joke from the novel is that if faithful people name girls after virtues (Hope, Charity, etc) then boys should be named after sins. One of Pratchett's other works includes a character named "Bestiality Carter".
Hitting the camera also happened in Robin Hood men in tights. If i recall correctly
Swapped paintball guns for M4's nice touch
Everyone ships Aziraphale and Crowley! Sadly, we do it the same way people ship Kirk and Spock, though. There's just nothing in the show or the book to confirm. :(
But there sure as hell is in season 2.
Not even the barest of crumbs. 😢But, we will ship them nonetheless!
Neil straight up said that Season One is, at it's heart, a love story. The lyrics of the song "A nightingale sang in Barkley square" which plays at the end of S1 details just what sort of love story it is. The tip offs are everywhere, so much so that even Michael Sheen has written fan fics about them, and assured fans that "The Bentley has been parked in the bookshop's garage" throughout lockdown.
@@GingerPeacenik Dang, dude, you really put a lot of effort into your fake spoilers.
If it helps, most people say Aziraphale's name as "A-zira-fell" or "A-zira-fail" (my personal favourite because it's just funny to have "fail" in your name). But Azi, Zira, Mr. Fell, (the) angel, are all fine. :D
There is a radio adaptation of this that you might want to check out later (not to be confused with the audiobook with the TV cast reading or the other audiobook with Martin Jarvis).
There is a Mel Brooks film where the camera zooms in on a window, and breaks it.
Oh yeah, David Tennant is hot AF!!!
"I've never seen a show or movie do that." Someone hasn't seen much Mel Brooks.
"Who ships it?? I know theres a fanbase out there somewhere"
Me: gurl u DONT EVEN *KNOW-*
Just an FYI, another Scottish connection besides David Tennant is that this show was directed by a Scotsman.
Jon Hamm is SO good in comedic roles. Can't get enough of it.
As a pansexual David Tennent is a delectable man. Also, "who ships it?" The ship doesn't need a crew, the ships sails itself. We're just along for the ride
Man i can't wait for Doctor Strange to appear in the finale.
And he’s riding Smaug!
I really can't wait to see your reaction on the coming musical number
I have the Good Omens book. I got it when I found out season 2 came out. That is how I found the show
More of an Easter egg than a spoiler, or just attention to detail. In the book it says Crowley has only gotten petrol for the Bentley once in the 90 years he’s had it and that was only to get the James Bond bullet hole decals that came with it. The TV Bentley has that decal one of the front side windows!
GNU Sir Terry Pratchett
Do not give all the good lines credits to the script writters! Terry wrote some (well most) of the amazingly funny lines!
9:50 You have won the right to tell Morgan Terry that you pronounced Anathema correctly on your first go.
I'm not sure if you noticed before hanging up Azralaphel said "Sorry RIGHT number."
Plenty of hilarious antics to come! 😊
The bit with the camera bumping into the window, there is actually a 100% in story reason why that happened.
No, there isn't.
As a fellow bi, I share your thoughts on David Tennant
18:54 You have no idea
I found your channel earlier this week through your Good Omens reaction and then binged your reactions all the shows/movies I've seen before. I'm sooo pumped to watch your reaction to the rest of it!
Thanks so much for giving my channel a watch!!! That means a lot to me!!!
You know, I like War's introduction, but still Death's is my favorite. The atmospheric music, a gorgeous white car, Death's outfit, the fact that the motion of when he is flicking dust off his jacket is when the rude guy feels death hit him, his voice, it really shows off who this version of Death is. Although, my favorite Death scene is the one where he is eating the curry while petting a white cat.
26:09 Aziraphale in a panic saying they're friends 😭
i cant wait for dottie and sadie to get introduced
So thrilled that you’re reacting to this show ! I can’t wait to see you react to some specific moments in the show 😊
Like when Aziraphale tries infiltrating Hell to get information about their plans for Adam, and gets caught so Crowley has rescue him ! It was such a cute moment seeing hm get worried like that ❤ (Yes I absolutely ship them, is there really anyone in this fandom who doesn’t ?)
One of the best series I have seen. The story line is brilliant and full of satire!!
Don't worry, it's a well known fact that whatever David Tennant does is Sexy.
Also-- ship? What ship? I don't even like boats.
Yes eveyone ships Azeraphel and Crowley. And as for the story, it was written by the Legendary Terry Pratchett (who of course created the Discworld novels) teaming up with his close friend Neil Gaiman, who himself is best known for writing such classics as The Sandman and Coraline (yes the one with the creepy button eyes thing).
Not only is Newt Jack Whitehall, but Adultery Pulsifer is also Jack Whitehall!
Love your reactions! Waiting for the next episodes!
Also if you like this characters dynamic, you should watch Staged - a pandemic-era mockumentary of David Tennant and Michael Sheen trying to get their next project going. It's short, but very amusing.
camera bumping into things is done in a few mel brooks movies. spaceballs is worth watching for a variety of visual gags like that.
OMG, i cant believe I'm so early!!
Actually the reason Crowley calls Aziraphale angel is bc he used to be on the Los Angeles Angels Baseball team
David Tennant is an icon and a legend
Now I need your and Terry´s Patreon to watch the full reaction.
