Agree 100%. Star Wars as a franchise deserves so much better. But too many just swallow it because its Star Wars. It was terrible TV. On a £180m budget??
Plain and simple, the writing on this is terrible. So Mae starts a book on fire, the next thing we know the rocks are on fire. Let that sink in. She's burning down the house, which is made of frakkin rocks. That's for starters. Then Sol lets Mae fall to her presumed death, and then catches Osha with his hands when, as a Jedi, he could have saved them both by holding them. Absurd. At this point, I'll still watch. I can only hope that it does get better.
I don't understand how the first 5 minutes made it off the cutting room floor. The child acting was terrible. The editing was bad also. Why not show the jedi ship land in the planet. It loke watching a play. Enter stage right
it’s so bad you can’t even blame the children. they just wrote the scene horrible. my favorite part is how mae horde choked a butterfly to show us she’s evil because we didn’t already know that from her killing a jedi in the future

No, it didn't DESTROY Star Wars. But, it certainly throws incongruent new concepts of The Force in to the mix, which causes potential questions about the unique creation and existence of The Chosen One Prophecy, in the form of Anakin Skywalker; which affects established canonical lore. Did that need to happen in this particular miniseries? I found it to be the most powerful, visually accomplished, coherent episode of the 3 so far. That doesn't say as much, though; considering the handful of unanswered questions and inconsistencies that episode featured.
Right. But the prophecy of Anakin being the one, could have been misread. Also I think it’s established in the comics or at least suggested that Palpatine used darkside magic to conjure Anakin’s birth. So this could end up explaining how he learned that spell.

Although, I believe (at least in The EU/Legends) it was Darth Tenebrous who determined the best Force-sensitive candidates for his master plan, getting 2 individuals to become romantically involved, leading to the conception of Darth Plagueis. I would think, if Tenebrous knew how to genetically plan a future Sith, he'd know how to manipulate Midichlorian-rich beings to create Force-users. Then again, We don't know exactly HOW Mae and Osha were conceived; given that the Mother's partner seemed concerned that IF The Jedi discovered the catalyst for the twins' "miracle birth", it would be the end of the coven's existence. My hope is, The Sith Lord ends up being either Tenebrous or Venamis, Lord Tenebrous' other, secret Apprentice, when he was still in the midst of training Plagueis. That's the only way the presence of a Sith in this story could make sense within canon, and in my mind.
That was my biggest gripe… all the copycat critics talking smack without even having watched all the other episodes. It’s def not my fav show by far but I don’t personally think it warrants the extreme hate it’s getting. Don’t like it don’t watch it and move on. I’m interested to see where it goes going forward but if it sucks it definitely will not conjure up so much emotions that I’ll start hating everything Star Wars. Give me a break.

But they have been learning into. That speech isn't coming from nowhere. I like Star Wars. But since Disney got there has on it. The only GOOD star wars I saw was Rogue One and the mandalorian season 1 and 2. Just because your a fan of a band. Your not out of line if your say. It's not great but I'm happy it's here. That's how I felt for Netflix Heman series
I think a lot has to do with writers coming in and not using the lore. The Witches of Dathomir would have been a establish coven that could have been used, the force is female, sure why wouldn't a coven of witches think that, but using the same methodology to create the twins as Anakin, that's always going to come off as a over step. The twins story is old story telling with so many played evil and good twin examples that it isnt fresh. The Jedi are bad, sure from a certain point of view 100%. But the story tries to tell a dual sided story, might have been better to try to tell it as a POV story just from the darkside and tell it more like Starship Troopers, where the Aliens probably had their own take on the humans being the bad guys. Lore and canon are important, and shouldn't be broken just to be controversial

Haven’t watched it because I don’t like what Disney has done with the franchise, but I will not hate on someone who likes what they are doing, All power to you. Not all of what they have produced is bad but I wasn’t feeling this show when I saw the trailer. Hope everyone is enjoying it but I’ll just stick to legends comics & novels.
Honestly, i feel like the jedi were the ones who started the real fire and slew the coven. The show seems to cut out after mae lights the book on fire into all of a sudden a huge fire. There's no way she caused that with that little book. Plus, theres a lot of scenes happening in the background, like how she heard the coven scream and stuff. Torbin did say that they thought they were doing the right thing, and korill did warn that the jedi might pull some sh** if they found out how the girls were created. Wouldn't be surprised if they took down the coven for their creations. After all, doing that with the force is considered a huge taboo and violation of the force.
I really don’t understand the point in reviewing each individual episode. Isn’t that like pausing a movie every 20 minutes to review the last 20 minutes 🤷🏻♂️

I really enjoyed this episode, after the explosion happened you can see the scar on torbin's face in the ship. So the scene we saw in the trailers with the wookie slamming torbin's head against the wall must have happened during the time of the explosion. Whatever that event was did Jedi regreted. I also like that the coven weren't night sisters because it shows that there were other witches in the galaxy, and this particular comment was on the brink of extinction before the twins came which was a cool detail.
This is another mystery thriller with a Force Dyad, twins, and a Jedi cover-up. Jedi's overconfidence help the sith to out smart them. I like it. Andor was great This is the way.
Acolyte is awful, i can’t even connect it to Star Wars unless there’s something wrong me! I feel nothing watching it.
I’ll watch it to the end but it’s not for me.

Hey, Jorge, like the 1st 2, i agree with your analyse of this épisode, it didnt destroyed star Wars, they just gave a point of view of the Force from a spécific coven. I think the épisode was kinda of boring, not much émotions where there should have cause the Twins are going in very différent directions and thé fire scène lets Hope the purpose was to bring it back AT some point to have the whole truth about what happen....

Honestly man, I really don’t like the acolyte. But here’s the thing, I love Star Wars I’ve loved it for the last 13 years I’ve seen it’s highs and lows but I really respect you for calling out the people who don’t even watch the show and just dog on it. I just love Star Wars for what it is to me, I hate people who just hate on Star Wars now because it ruins it for Real PASSIONATE fans. I respect you for making good content and calling out the people who are just here to dog on star wars and hate on it
Doesn't feel like star wars music, dialogue, costumes, scenes, ships etc. sure this is disappointing, but it doesn't impact any of the other star wars.
One thing I miss about the movies. These series do not have proper star wars music, the feel that brings. Music is so important and it doesn't feel like star wars for me, nor reaching those levels. I am not saying to use main themes for ordinary characters. But at least the jedi/ sith etc. Plus surrounding music.

Regardless of what franchise this is, if you step back and look at it objectively, it was terrible TV. The acting, story, everything was just so average. There are countless better TV shows. Star Wars as a franchise deserves so, so much better than this, it just does. Churning out average TV shows after average TV shows. It deserves so much more than this stuff. Still stunned people can put Andor below this... stunned.
I think you’re right that there probably will be a second flashback episode from Mae’s perspective. The first two episodes were called “Lost / Found” and “Revenge / Justice” while this one was just called “Destiny” suggesting it’s only one half of the twin perspectives on those events. Also, as you pointed out, when the witches were revealed to have all died, the area they were in wasn’t on fire. It looked like they’d been murdered there / died before the fire got to them.
I agree. I'm still 2/5 for this because of certain plot wholes and storytelling. I had no feeling of Star Ware being ruined and felt most of the other channels were clickbaiting.
The issues I had was how confusing the episode was. Now in the case of the Witches it was interesting to me that they canonized other Force/Thread beliefs. It allowed for a grey area to develop when it comes to the Jedi and their beliefs as "protectors" in the galaxy. I think Screencrush did as great job in him post about the comparsion to Chrisiantiy with other religions. Now I question if the dogmatic views of The Force conflict with others in the Star Wars galaxy and how often. What confused me was their version of it as it seemed to borrow elements from the EU so I wasn't sure if they were making something new or relabeling EU lore. Another confusing this were the young girls are the twins that didn't look like twins. I'm sorry but that just kept making me think to just cast another girl to be Mae instead of the same one. When they're young they look nothing alike and when they grow up they're identical.
Next was the big question of HOW and WHY? The epsiode starts off with Sol spying on the girl and all I kept asking it why and how as Sol here on this planet? Someone had to get informaiton of these witches to even investigate the planet. If so, why spy on them and the girls specifically? Wouldn't it have been better to just approach as they did and inquire from information they heard? That would have been a cleaner setup to me because then we have a reason as to why the Jedi even arrived. Again, ScreenCrush believes this is one POV of the events and we will see the other POV's throughout the series. There are too many questions to be asked and now it's leaving less interest in the method of mystery here.
The main reason of my rating is because the story pacing and plotholes are weak. Within 3 episode I haven't had a moment which to be impressed or draw me in more. There is a mystery on characters that haven't been well developed to invest into. They seem to have forced more on the fighting scenes for marketing and less on the character motivations. If they do have more POVs then maybe this will change my view of the episode but it's a style of storytelling that is very risky.
They have undermined the creation of Anakin Skywalker. Literally what KK wanted - to turn the Force Female. It’s a sick agenda driven load of nonsense. It’s not Star Wars. I refuse to accept it as cannon.

Good points totally agree. They should’ve not tried to link the force to the witches explaination of it. Also the mystery of where the children came from with no father leaves it open to EU interpretation which breaks cannon from OT Star Wars which naturally caused all the fan hate.
I've watched all 3 episodes and while it's not the most thrilling Star Wars show so far, it's a Star Wars show. It feels like they are playing on a different view of the force. It almost feels like they are showing the hubris of the Jedi during this time period...the opening credits talks about the Jedi "prospering" for centuries without war, and also the mention in this episode of the Jedi controlling who can use the force, not to mention they break into the witches fortress to force the testing of the children. Even the reference you made to the Jedi don't take children, then they take her...when it's their own interference which caused the situation. I don't know, something just feels different. Maybe in the end, It just winds up being crappy writing...who knows.
Yeah I've watched the 3 episodes....it's a trash show. I was excited for some High Republic content but this is bad. The simple fact that she admitted that people that are completely unfamiliar with Star Wars worked on this show is ridiculous. Now wonder it's bad, they don't know what they are doing. And claiming R2-D2 is a lesbian...what the f*ck is she talking about?!?!? She and her people need to be kept far away from Star Wars. As far as I'm concerned, this crap doesn't exist. It's just bad
This show isn't turning the force female. There have already been female dominated force user groups in Star Wars. There are female religious groups in real life. These don't make the whole religion female. I think the witches are portrayed as being a closed minded, our way or no way group. This doesn't make their way look better than what we see from the Jedi. Obviously the Jedi have problems as well with thinking they know better than everyone else. The Jedi having problems isn't a new concept proposed by this show either. Of the two groups, the Jedi appear to have more of a tendency to push their ideas onto people outside their group, where the witches are basically closed off from the outside.
Its a star wars show. If people like it thats great for them. Thats the way I feel about the Disney trilogy. Not really a fan of the High republic era.

In fact it’s grossly the opposite. I find it funny that you represent a side that claims to be called names because of your opinion, but here you are doing exactly that. Like I stated in the video, I have no problem if you don’t like this show. It’s your opinion. I’m not fully onboard with this show either. Really? I read it was 100 years before EP1. Well that makes even more of an argument that chracters from the prequels could be alive in this era.

Jorge! What's up man. So, outside of the bad acting (and let's face it, the acting in Star Wars was always bad) I'm having a hard time figuring out what makes this show so horrible. People was shouting 'the writing is terrible' after two episodes, which cracks me up. They went into the show already knowing they won't like it. I can't help thinking about Wandavision and the complete mindbender that show took us on before we had our 'OH!' moment. Perhaps that'll happen here... perhaps it won't. The thing is it's way too early to say. But this idea that this single episode ruined Star Wars is insane. If you ask me that one tender moment (and it was just that... a moment) between the Mothers is what set everyone down this warpath. They can say it's the writing all the want, I don't buy it. But that's just my opinion.

Still others made up their mind before it even dropped that it was a write off. Sad really how most new projects now are so divisive and bring out such awful behaviour.
I agree it isn't the greatest project (so far) but it isn't as awful as some would have us believe!
Each of our fandoms belong to ourselves, even though it is cool to connect with others. I personally try to avoid getting sucked into pointless negative discourse.
