Too Late, I'm from Belgium and having watched tons of movies from all states in the country, I can definitely vouch Malayalam Films are the best and the most underrated movies in the country. It's the only industry with movies and actors at par with International standards and breaks away from typical Indian stereotype. I learned that Malayalees or mallus grew up watching incredible movies and great actors and definitely hard to please. Even visiting Kerala made me realize how different the people are and everything uniquely set apart from the rest of the country. I left out Iyobinte pusthakam initially, but when I watched it online years later, I truly regretted not watching it on big screen.. One of the best from Malayalam film industry, and I didn't miss much from there as an a keralite..
Thanks man.. Even Tamil films are producing great movies .. Like raatchasan , 96 , super deluxe to name a few.. Happy that people are appreciating real life acting and cinematography instead of hero oriented over the top action scenes and masala dances.💜
Hello Guys 😄🖐️. As far as you enjoyed watching the movie and talking about it. We enjoyed watching the review 😄🤩😍👏. Really appreciate the effort you guys put into explaining everything about the different departments and the scenes from the movie 🤩👏. We are so glad you loved it 😄👏. We are about to start our second Malayalam film called " Thankam " starring Fahadh Faasil, Dileesh Pothan and Joju George in the lead slated for 2020. Stay tuned for that one too 😄🖐️. @Cyborg raju Thanks brother for the support. It's true dats that lot of ppl think Tamil and telgu movies as south india movies. Mainly because those are the movies which are dubbed to hindi. As streaming sevice is getting more popularity oru movies has started recognition and it's just d matter of time. I am a movie buff and watch lot of content in lot of language. If you can suggest me few bengali movies of recent times and how to find them. I can spent some time.
And for the same reason I believe Navaaz is also overrated.. he is good but not better than many who are way better than him. Don't thing he is anyway close to Om Poori, Plus there are tons of actors down south..!!

for more soubin shahir - the guy who played the eldest brother, I recommend the movie Sudani from Nigeria (another slice of life movie with a bit of football in it)
@@girisankar3648 i felt the movie Ambili had issues in the script. It turned itself into a Road movie in the second half and the characters that we saw during the first half was completely forgotten.
I stopped midway and went and watched the movie..... So glad i did..... The best movie I've seen in a decade..... love from Arunachal Pradesh..... Mallu people you guys are rocking it
India has an problem with sending right movies to the Oscars. The fact that india didn't send kumbalangi nights made me a broken man, then I watched it again and became normal
I just watched this movie today on Amazon prime, after I saw you and jaby recommending it. Can't thank you enough, Malayalam movies are something else. So simple, so innocent, so pure. Definitely this has become one of my favourite movies of all time.
Here's a list of the most incredible Malayalam movies in the recent times to start with. - Angamali Diaries - ee maa yau - Iyobinte pusthakam - Maheshinte Prathikaram - Jallikattu - Thondimuthalum Driksashiyum - Maayanadhi Believe me - you will come out with a whole new perspective on film making after these.
All these movies I recomend to them. My request to all malayalees please don't recommend movies like Pulimurugan, abrahaminte santhathikal. Madhuraraja or may be not even Lucifer. We enjoyed it as mass entertainers. That's it.
Finally a Malayalam Movie. The best movies of India are from Kerala (Malayalam), Maharashtra (Marathi) and West Bengal ( Bengali). Recently Tamil movies have also upped there quality in a great leap!!
Fahad Fasil , Anna Ben , Shane Nigam ... i know all their names and i m not even malayali !!! watched this movie with subtitles ...and it become my all time fav . Anyone noticed ... when Bobby says I am a Man .. Arjun Reddy was playing in the background
When they start the movie, the house is dimly lit. But as the female counterparts of the characters enter their life and bring love to their life, there are more and more lights in and around the house. By the end, when all female characters are with them and the brothers have resolved the conflict among themselves, the house is fully lit and completely bright. Just showcasing how love brightens up our life. Also there's a cactus being shown in the beginning which is about to dry away. But by the end of the movie, the cactus looks very good in its appearance with even flowers on it. Again showing what love could do. Such detailing the movie has❤️
Adding to the detail is the area around the house having bad reputation where unwanted kittens and puppies are dumped and this mirrors the actual story
Most viewers are confused about the American girl. She is not a tourist backpacker. She is a exchange student. You can see her coming down the steps of a college in the song Uyuril Thodum. Malayalam cinema indicates many things in subtle nuances. They don't over-explain anything.
Welcome to the world of malayalam movies. Can't wait for you to get introduced to some gems🤩🤩 Next you can watch Vanaprastham, Thanmathra, Angamaly Diaries, Ee. Ma. Yau. These are some more amazing movies.
This is what I love about OSR, irrespective of the views they really want to explore Indian culture and artistry unlike that SOB jaby who sucks bollydick all the time to please his majority of subscribers, I dont even know how many times Ive requested this to him
Guys please react to Lucifer Malayalam movie climax scene, you guys have reacted to the trailer. Its a mass entertainer with realistic acting and action sequences. Do watch the movie its available on Amazon prime with Eng subs
Top 5 life lessons from Kumbalgami Nights: 1. When you need help ask for it: "both men have psychological issues, but when Saji comes close to the abyss, he realizes he must help himself: he goes to a doctor to cry out his emotions. Meanwhile Shammi insists on being “a hero”. 2. Crying is not sign of weakness but courage to move on with clarity: Shaji breaks down in Doctors room- Normally Men holds a lot of emotions inside them and do not express it. When Shaji breaks down in tears he lets go of all his guilt he has done in life and that opens up the clarity and courage of taking responsibility of his late colleagues wife and her son. He also starts caring for her like gifting her saree as shown in the song EZHUTHA KADHA. 3. Love over financial security- Baby accepting Bobby knowing that he is poor. She gives love a chance rather than money. In the last scene while bobby is rescuing baby the look on Shammis wife face when he displays his care and affection for Baby shows what she missed in her marriage with Shammi. 4. Blood is thicker than water: when the brothers see BOBBYs love gets away from his life due to Shammi they all reunite and stand firmly behind Bobby for his last attempt to win over Shammi. 5. Happiness and energy in a house is governed by balance of male and female energies: Franky always wants female family members as he feels it makes the family complete. Nylah first enters the house, followed by Vijays wife who Shaji brings in. Things start shifting in everyones life and soon it is followed by Bobby getting Baby in the climax of the movie.
Do marathi people watch hindi or marathi movies more...so marathi guys understand hindi...as i am malayali...i studied hindi in school otherwise i wont understand but i think marathi is similar to hindi
Fahadh Fazil is an excellent actor known for taking up varied roles.. You must watch the movie Maheshinte Prathikaaram for his acting and the innate simplicity.

Thanks! I can’t believe I am only watching Malayalam films now. This list should keep me busy! I watched Virus, Bangalore Days, and then Kumbalangi Nights. Love these so far!
Yeah about that spoiler thing. I am from west Bengal and I love malyalam movies. I never bothered when you said "if you haven't watched this movie go back and watch it because we are going to talk spoilers". But for the first time I stopped and wouldn't see this review reaction. I will watch the movie and come back. Also I live in Indiana now for atleast a year, how can I meet you guys when I come to LA?
Guess what was the movie Bobby and Baby were watching when the fight broke out between them and Bobby ends it with ‘ Cos I am a Man’??? ‘Arjun Reddy’ aka Kabir Singh 😂😂😂 So apt
Both of them missed it, ofcourse they missed plenty of nuances in the film. But personally felt they were praising it too much. The movie gained a lot of flak for the climax among the critics, for whitewashing shammy's misogyny with mental disorder ( psychopath). Apart from that great film.
Natural, slice of life cinema: the Malayalam film industry does it like no other regional film industry in the country. Some crazy realism and such subtle messaging. Without being preachy. What Malayalam cinema is known for is the brilliant Story-telling, the script, the cinematography, acting, character arcs, music, direction and all of it coming together to leave such a magical experience for the viewer. We might not have the biggest budgets or make the big monies compared to other cinemas, but this is truly special cinema at the end of the day. Super proud of our contribution to the visual art scene.
I feel great. I gave 10/10 imdb rating to movie coz i felt this was one of the best indian movie i ever seen. And without any fault.. seeing same kind of review.. feels great
Some important screenplay bits that enhance emotions : 1) When Bobby , Saji and Frankie are shown for the first time in the movie, all of them are positioned in different heights ( Bobby sits on the couch, Frankie stands and Saji is all over the room) . As their relationship develops, they are seen together on the couch. 2) When Bony meets Frankie for the first time, they show them swimming synchronized. Here, Frankie's relationship with Bony is emphasised which is a direct contrast to the previous scene with the other Brothers. 3) When Saji asks Frankie's help to go to a doctor, he is positioned inside a window , showing that he is in some kind of a prison and can't let his emotions out. (Emphasised by dialogue " I am not able to cry") 4) Saji's Innocence - Right after Saji's friend dies and he ends up in a police station, Saji is shown with an ant crawling on his hand. This is a reference to a Malayalam phrase " Oru ഉറുമ്പിനെ പോലും നോവിക്കില്ല" which translates roughly to " He is so innocent that he wouldn't even hurt an ant" Lastly, Shammy says, " I am the Hero". Here hero basically means the "Good guy" Which in this case I believe is. Though he is mentally unstable, all he tried to do was protect his family. He tried to do the role of the Man in the house. Protect his neice from falling into what he thought was a bad relation. If you read this much , Thank you. These are some of my thoughts.
I disagree with the last part. I think when shammi says ' i am the hero', what the writer is trying to convey is that a man who thinks he should be the head of the family,(the shot in which they are eating, he is sitting right below the hanging photo of their father) who controls the women around him is not a hero but a freak/psychopath. He consider himself a hero, because he is living in a society that thinks a man is entitled to be the Savior of women, be it in the family or in the society.
@@vishnurs2586 Even I thought the exact same thing in the beginning. But then I realized, the chair shot already established him as the head of the house. Also he says that " എന്തെങ്കിലും പറ്റിയ എല്ലാവരും എന്നോടെ ചോടിക്കത്തുള്ളു ". Emphasising the same. Also he says he is the hero in a fight scene. Which commonly has a hero and a villain. I think the statement from shammy was about the characters in the fight
Holy shit this was crazy ...never thought it would be so fast.. yesterday the trailer and today the movie review ...now i can say ...see we told you it's going to be a magical experience...welcome to the world of Malayalam Cinemas 🤗
Some of the Malayalam Movies you should watch (1) Take off (2) Bangalore days (3)Premam (4)Angamaly diaries (5)Maheshinte prathikaram (6)Ustad Hotel (7) Uyare (8) Charlie (9) Unda (10) Sudani from Nigeria . I would have recommended Drishyam also. But you have already seen the hindi version ( you should have watched the malayalam version).
About 90 percent of films in malayalam industry are inclined to the reality. Its a magical arena of realistic films. Which you may find the remaked hindi hit version with lot so called taste makers which malayalies wont prefer. That makes this film industry ... the mollywood so special.deep rooted life scripts and precised crafting makes malayalam films soooo real...., if you start watching from the classics.. you will be deeply addicted. Being a malayali and more over your subscriber from day 1, i was disappointed on the reason that your were not educated on this industry... nd not reacting much on this.. instead been only glued to the bravura of peripheral bollywood., I hope you will consider the mollywood from now.. gud day guys

@@oblivion_007 yes ik that it was influenced by straw dogs I think. But still every movie has it's own premise, it's own cultural inferences. And I have seen the plot of straw dogs and it's different in various aspects. I really just loved the cinematography and the perfect acting by the cast in Varathan. The emotions were so high. And I think they will love that aspect too. Movies like Kabir Singh are being remade 3 times and audience is still enjoying it. Why cant we enjoy a movie like this then.
@@thatspunk851 I think it will be better if they review some original movies rather than something inspired from hollywood. .lots of other films with original story to recommend.I recommend malayalam film GURU.
I am from tamilnadu. Malayalam movie industry the most underrated industry in whole India who take many movies to international level (in terms of plot, frames, cinematography, etc etc) . I think most of the tamil people would agree it.
I saw this movie and the next week I went for "ONCE UPON THE TIME IN HOLLYWOOD " in big screen. Then I thought why this DiCaprio movie is so hyped when our Malayalam industry released an even better masterpiece called Kumbalangi Nights. Proud to be a mallu
You are comparing it to 'Parasite' and bringing it up to Oscar level. It's a huge huge honour for us. Honestly, regional cinema, including Malayalam movies, were not even seen nationwide in earlier days. Of course, there have been a lot of very good movies. But only recently with the advance of streaming sites that they have started to reach a wider audience and have started getting the recognition they deserve. I am a Film Student from Kerala and had been an OSR fan since 'Gully Boy' review. Glad that you got to our movies finally. You have a long way to go. My recommendations are : 1. Bangalore Days 2. Take Off 3. Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum 4. Maheshinte Prathikaram 5. Uyare
@@abinashsau9655 'Charlie', 'Premam' etc are light-hearted rom-com movies. 'Thondimutalum Driksakshiyum', 'Maheshinte Pratikaram', 'Sudani From Nigeria' are good slice-of-life realistic ones with humor and heart touching moments. Try 'Take off' and 'Uyare' if you want to try a bit more serious stories.
I am so happy... Watch 'Thondi mutalum driksakshiyum'.. a brilliant film made from a very simple plot .. and an amazing performance from the one and only Fahad Faazil and Suraj Venjaramood.
U have no idea how badly disappointed we feel when the best works get left out as for being the official entry for the Oscars... N it happens time n time again... Bollywood is good sometimes ...but it isn't the only best thing in India... There's a whole lot of another world..that doesn't get it's due credit... it's disheartening really... So much of good work goes unnoticed...
You will fynd 10000s of gem of a movie, characters and actors in Malayalam films unlike other languages...trust me...u sud see more of Malayalam movies from now on...luv u guys...happiest to see u finally review a movie from Kerala☺️😘😘😘
The actress lives near me😂... But yeah.. don't know eachother, not even knew she was there😂... Well Her father is a famous script writer, name- "Benny P Nayarambalam"... Her new movie is "Helen" which is also good👏👏
It's very uncommon in India for people to be open about going to see therapist or asking help regarding mental health issues. That's why that scene where saji asking for help is so appreciated.
Fahad Faasil -Maheshinte Prathikaram -Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum -Takeoff -Iyobinte Pusthakam each character was different level acting..and all these are different level movies too.. try it.. you wont regret..✌✌
I think it's about the perception, many people won't like the subject they're dealing with and the newness in the execution of the film. Malayalis are so reluctant to embrace change. But the editing, camera and the background score is another level. And I will say if it was an English film, Fahad would have been the next Oscar winner. The film and it's way of execution is original, just give it a chance.
Guys, kumbalangi is the name of the place in which the story is set. It is a small island near Kochi.I really loved your interpretations, especially the moon walk one..here are some others 1. The house that they live in is unfinished ,both literally and metaphorically. 2. There are no women in the house, but when they do enter the house ,it becomes a complete albeit unconventional home , and Frankie gets the loving presence of a 'mother' that he has always longed for. 3. Kumbalangi nights is the story of broken men. It underlies the emotional trauma they endure and the sad truth that mental health is not given priority in India, especially for men. 4. Shammi wants to become the perfect "head of the family" and maintain familial values and traditions, to outwardly portray the Perfect family, but internally, this family is subjected to a sinister plot and a controlling Shammi. The family of Saji on the other hand, with the wife of his dead friend and Bonnie's girlfriend living there, might seem unconventional and socially unacceptable, but is full of love and care, unlike Shammi's so called perfect family. 💕
Shami Hero aada Hero. This dialogoue has a cult following in Kerala since this movie was released and Keralites will have same enthusiasm for this line even after 50 Years too. Fahad ,You are in a different level.
This is the main difference between other reaction channels and OSR, there are 3, 4 year old channels which watches only trailers and some main stream new Bollywood movies only to please the subscribers to make easy money without putting more effort to understand the "INDIAN" essence of diversity.
Strongly agreed. That's why last year I was subscribed to 12-13 foreign reaction channels but only 3 now. And if Jaby doesn't watch & review more movies, I'm unsubscribing him too.
Now we are talking. Welcome to malayalam movies. As per trends in other channels, i can tell you malayalam movie reviews won't get you the view counts you get for the hindi trailers or movie reviews but you would find movies that are a class apart. Some recommendations - Ustad hotel Bangalore days Charlie Maheshinte pratikaaram
The mother was psychologically broken. Saji explains it after the mom says no. He explains how she truly loved them but she had to deal with a lot and that broke her mentally.
World thinks Hindi cinema is Indian cinema. But in reality Bengali and Malayalam films are years ahead of other Indian language films including Hindi. Right now Malayalam films are at least 10 to 15 years ahead of Hindi films in terms of content and natural acting.
It's not only about the director. It's about that team.Fahad, sobin dilesh pothan, sushin syam, syju kalid. Remeber the production house is Fahad fasil and friends.
Realising the worth of this reaction after the popular UA-cam reactor guy on his channel completely missed d mark with this gem of a film. Also I am positively shocked dat you guys got so many things spot on like that moonwalk scene for one. Keep up d good work n keep reacting to good films too like kumbalangi nights from other Indian languages too.

Finally a Malayalam Movie. The best movies of India are from Kerala (Malayalam), Maharashtra (Marathi) and West Bengal ( Bengali). Recently Tamil movies have also upped there quality in a great leap!!

I’ve never noticed that, thank you
Good observation!👍...many may have missed them, me too. Thanks for sharing😊

Top 5 life lessons from Kumbalgami Nights:

Director brilliance
That's Brilliance of the director
Both of them missed it, ofcourse they missed plenty of nuances in the film. But personally felt they were praising it too much. The movie gained a lot of flak for the climax among the critics, for whitewashing shammy's misogyny with mental disorder ( psychopath). Apart from that great film.
xavier vinod I felt that the film was able to show that toxic masculinity is also a mental disorder!
@@amuseduh but that is ableism. Misogyny and overpowering attitude is not a mental illness.
And without any fault.. seeing same kind of review.. feels great
Some important screenplay bits that enhance emotions :
1) When Bobby , Saji and Frankie are shown for the first time in the movie, all of them are positioned in different heights ( Bobby sits on the couch, Frankie stands and Saji is all over the room) .
(Emphasised by dialogue " I am not able to cry")
4) Saji's Innocence - Right after Saji's friend dies and he ends up in a police station, Saji is shown with an ant crawling on his hand.
This is a reference to a Malayalam phrase " Oru ഉറുമ്പിനെ പോലും നോവിക്കില്ല" which translates roughly to " He is so innocent that he wouldn't even hurt an ant"
Lastly,
Shammy says, " I am the Hero". Here hero basically means the "Good guy"
Which in this case I believe is. Though he is mentally unstable, all he tried to do was protect his family. He tried to do the role of the Man in the house. Protect his neice from falling into what he thought was a bad relation.
If you read this much , Thank you.
These are some of my thoughts.
Wow
Niceee
I disagree with the last part. I think when shammi says ' i am the hero', what the writer is trying to convey is that a man who thinks he should be the head of the family,(the shot in which they are eating, he is sitting right below the hanging photo of their father) who controls the women around him is not a hero but a freak/psychopath. He consider himself a hero, because he is living in a society that thinks a man is entitled to be the Savior of women, be it in the family or in the society.
Points highlighted so well bros 👍💙Jassim n Vishnu both of you r accurate in ur analysis 🙏🌹

Welcome to the core of the Indian cinema ‘the Malayalam film industry’. You have just touched the tip of the iceberg!
About 90 percent of films in malayalam industry are inclined to the reality. Its a magical arena of realistic films. You are comparing it to 'Parasite' and bringing it up to Oscar level. It's a huge huge honour for us.
Where else would you find the "perfect man" the bad guy in a movie? Welcome to Malayalam Cinema.
Guys, kumbalangi is the name of the place in which the story is set. It is a small island near Kochi.I really loved your interpretations, especially the moon walk one..here are some others

Come on mention jaby
Strongly agreed.
That's why last year I was subscribed to 12-13 foreign reaction channels but only 3 now.
And if Jaby doesn't watch & review more movies, I'm unsubscribing him too.
I already unsubscribed jaby.. He doesn't understand the true essence of good movies
You are damn right bro 💯💯

The mother was psychologically broken. Saji explains it after the mom says no. He explains how she truly loved them but she had to deal with a lot and that broke her mentally.
World thinks Hindi cinema is Indian cinema. But in reality Bengali and Malayalam films are years ahead of other Indian language films including Hindi. Right now Malayalam films are at least 10 to 15 years ahead of Hindi films in terms of content and natural acting.
22:40 really liked your interpretation of the moonwalk scene 👏
Our films are locally international.Thank you for watching :)

Thanks for getting started with "The House of Natural Acting - Malayalam Industry". The actor is Fahad Fazil. Next watch "Tanmatra"

Spot on guys! Fahad Fasil is one of the best Malayalam actor currently. And Shammi is an awesome poryrayal by Fahad.
Kerala is the most literate state of India.. So naturally, we love to watch realistic and best version of films unlike those above action sequels , masala dances and overacting !!
And due to streaming and online services.. Malayalam films are getting the required attention.. Coz content wise, acting , cinematography , story telling all combining this industry is the best in india
Correct
I’m new to Malayalam films and so far, all movies I’ve watched have matched the hype. So surprised these films haven’t had Oscar recognition; or if they have I wasn’t aware.
You still long way to catch up with bengali movies. Bengali Cinema has won 23 national film awards followed by hindi with 13 and malayalam with 12..
@@user-yh4uj2sx9x yeah history wise it has been Bengal and its films , no doubt.. But I'm talking about current situation dude..
There isn't a single industry right now which makes realistic movies on a consistent basis like malayalam film industry..
@@sree3650 bengali movies are making realistic movies.. You need to watch them brother
