Oil Glaze Over a Charcoal Pronghorn Drawing on Canvas

- I'm starting to feel more a little comfortable with this process, but it still makes me nervous every time I brush the oil paint over my charcoal drawing. This was a fun subject as well. Pronghorn antelope are one of the most commonly seen wild animals in the area where I live, so it was fun to finally draw/paint one. Hope you enjoy the video. Thanks everyone!

Do you seal the charcoal drawing before the oil glaze?
Yes, using Krylon workable fixative spray
@@JoelPilcherArt thank you, I watched more of your videos and found the answer! Absolutely love your work!
Are using the Sofft tools to remove oil glaze? Or to add lighter pigment?
Beautiful work sir... you are an inspiration for my venture into charcoal and PanPastels. :)
I use them to remove the oil paint. Thank you!!
Unbelievably beautiful once again! Thank you!
How long did you wait before varnishing?
Please tell me what you used for fixing charocal drawing ,before applying the oil layers.........🙏
Czy do utrwalenia warst węgla można użyć Werniks w sprayu Professional W&N- mat (do obrazów olejnych, alkidowych oraz akrylowych) ?

I use Krylon workable fixative to seal each layer of charcoal before adding the next and before brushing on the oil glaze. Hope that helps. Thanks!
I don’t know why I haven’t really done this before, but I came across your video when I had the thought to do more work with drawing all of CT he detail and glazing rather than predominantly painting a subject. I don’t want to limit myself to one particular style so I’m looking for variation. This is the first video I’ve found which was exactly what I was searching for, so thank you. How much more specific could I have gotten then by searching “detailed drawing under oil glazes”? 🫠
Very nice work you should do a step by step tutorial
What a crazy process. Very cool results 👍🏼
Amazing and very inspirational. At the end are you using varnish for oil paint?
I do guess that is Gamvar , or something else, but for shure something from Gamblin....( At least the bottle is a Gamblin...😊)
Yes, Gamvar varnish. Thanks!
I feel like.. I really, going to do some Art too since
I'm just amazed by your Art work because of the music that also gives it drifting comic vibes and the fact that you can choose the character at play man definitely seems fun in an uplifting way.
and is the Oil glaze like a Epoxy type add on?
Thank you again 👍✅
The oil glaze is just oil paint thinned with mineral spirits. Thanks!
Is that a wet towel for removing the amber graze?
Just a dry towel. The oil paint dries slowly so it gives me time to remove it. Thanks!
Gorgeous
Hello, what color do you use for foundation
A mix of burnt umber and ultramarine blue for this one.
@@JoelPilcherArt thank you teacher
Hi…your work is amazing…you are using oil glazing and then work on highlights….is it because oil paint dry slowly….what if we do acrylic glazing at end….will it give the same effect….
The glaze is the burnt umber and ultramarine blue? 😍 absolutely incredible work
