Watch me try to put dreadlock extensions in at home (in a hotel) by myself.
Disclaimer: These were sent to me to try out but all opinions are my own.
I know some people are giving you grief about fake dreads but honestly, I like the idea of being able to have dreads, not be committed to them nor ruining my hair. As a hairstylist I think this is a great alternative and I assume they're reusable so that's a bonus as well 😊
I agree 😊 and my friends who have real dreadlocks agree and loved them too. The only people who are ever offended about them are people who don’t even have them 🤷🏼♀️
I’m all for doing whatever you like aslong as nobody is harmed and yes they’re reusable ☺️ they’d probably look better after a few wears, a bit more messy etc!
yes !!! and if you have real dreads and get lice, you have to shave ur head !! that’s a fear of mine
Haha oh gosh! Both of those would be traumatic
girl that’s not the point of dreads
Says who 🤷🏻♀️
Leave them in longer than 3 Days! All that work, you gotta enjoy the fruits of your labor! It looks super cool 👍🏻 Thanks for sharing too, never knew it was so attainable to do yourself. Guess I figured it was too expensive and had to be done at a salon. Seriously though, you look amazing with them. Matches your aesthetic, perfect color match, executed very well (very impressive considering you did it completely solo), and super unique, very long, can’t think of anything I don’t like. And I was hoping you’d leave some out at the top, you have to to blend them in. I went to cosmetology school so I know a good job when I see one 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Again, leave them in girl! You don’t want to regret taking them out! 💕💕💕💕
I know I've seen this a year late but girl you did an amazing job! I'm a hairdresser and always enjoy trying new hair things so I've been making my own synthetic dreads and learning installation techniques and you honestly did a great job you should definitely leave them in longer as they suit you! I don't know if you noticed but I notice when I have synthetic dreads mixed in with some of my own hair left out my hair tends to tangle so a tip for anyone using synthetic dreads mixed into your own hair definitely use a spray in leave in conditioner at least once a day and braid your hair when sleeping to avoid tangles and breakage of your own hair.
I'm gonna go check out the rest of your channel now :) xx
Aw thank you I appreciate it 😊 I’ve worn them quite a few times now since this and got better at it each time. Thanks for watching
I love the sort of trial and error of this, like as you find more helpful techniques throughout the process you share them with us and I like that! They're a perfect colour match, woah!
Aww glad you liked it thank you 😊 at the start I was like ok.. going to do this nice neat way.. by the end I was like right ... I don’t care how it looks it’s been hours and my arms hurt 😂😂
They really are!!
1 of my friends has real dreads and part of her real hair is not in them and it looks really cool. Her hair is also layered like yours too. Yours looked cool with part of your hair not in the dreads too! 🔮 The final result looks REALLY good!!! I love it!!! 🔮💜🔮💜🔮💜
Thank you 😊 yeh I think next time I would leave more of my hair out on the top
I did the same thing a couple years ago but used double ended dreads, it was definitely a fun experience but I wouldn't personally do it again. It was such a pain to wash my scalp and I already had some scalp issues at the time so my head was constantly itching. They looked good for the first 2 weeks and then started to fall out (I did them myself as well so that's probably due to how badly I put them in) I got a lot of compliments at first though and I don't regret trying them out! It was really nice being able to just get up in the morning and not have to fuss about with my hair. They look so cute on you! Keep us updated! 🖤
They look so good on you. If you do try to keep them in when you have to go back to work, maybe putting them up in a kind of wrap around bun style would be okay. I think it looks really great and still professional when I see other people using that approach.
Yes! Great idea, I second that!
Yeh .. I’d definitely try it next time.. they were just so thick and chunky I didn’t really have any idea what I was doing.
Next time I’m going to get them put in professionally and get some tips! ☺️
They look amazing!! The partial dread looks great!! I just got my first set and I'm glad I watched this. Im so excited to put them in! Thank you so much!! -- Patricia from the US ❤
Thank you 😊 aww bet they’ll look great! Good luck
I love this kind of video style, where it seems like you've really become comfortable with the camera, and you're being yourself. Your videos are getting better every day! :)
Also love the dreads 😁
Aww thank you ☺️ I appreciate it.. I’m trying!! I just need to get better at filming in public or around my friends when we go out now haha.
And thanks!
I think the top out looked really nice. I actually have real dreadlocks and have for years I love dreadsuk . I get my shampoo bars from them. I wore synthetic dreads for years braided in as well. All that work , hopefully you’re still rocking them. They look incredible on you
Yehh I regret not just sort of leaving it half and half.. I think I’d do that next time!!
I took them out 😩 but when I’m off for a week in summer I’m going to get them again for sure! Yes the shampoo smells so good!
The wrap you did instead of the normal braid is actually how you should install the dreads. Good job figuring that out!
Ah awesome thank you 😊
You look absolutely smashing🥰 hair colour and make up looks amazing 😍 thanks for sharing your video.
Thank you 😊
Praying for you precious one. Thanks for the very detailed, well done video.
Thank you
Wow they look amazing. You really suit dreads. Never knew you could get extensions.
Thank you 😊 yeh they’re great
I have been wanting to experiment with fake locs for a while now.. I could never ruin my hair and commit to actually doing it for real.. Plus Idk if I could pull them off.. But I think urs turned out great, and the color match is amazing! Glad u did a video on the process.. My hair is shorter than urs so.. Idk.. I'm really thinking about it.. I am always changing my hair, so being able to just have dreads when I want them is such a cool concept! U know I always love ur videos.. Thank u for sharing!!
😍 How many dreads did u start with and how many did u end up using???
Wow, you have soooo much patience! I would've loved to see the video of you taking them all out, probably took ages lol! And of course you rocked it, gorgeous 😘
Haha oh trust me you wouldn’t it took 4 hours and it was just my mum using a piece of metal to find the clear bands 😂 thank you ☺️ 😛
You look so natural in dread! These look gorgeous on you! The color match is perfect . Im amazed this was your first time... never would've known!
Aww thank you that’s sweet ☺️
wow this honestly seems a lot easier than I thought it was. I appreciate it because its like impossible to find a dread stylist that has an availability. You'd seriously never know that dreads have become so popular honestly, most books or closed or you cant get in for months so I'm going to try to hack it myself! thank you!
It’s so easy! Takes a longggg time though sadly but the more you do it the quicker you get 😊
It called a ladder braid for those that don't know
Thanks
In the UK they use different terminologies.
Well done you, I admire your perseverance... and I’m all for faux dreadlocks.... you’ve given me the push I needed to have dreadlocks in my hair. 👍
Aww thanks 😊 yes definitely do it! ☺️
Are these the backcombed ones or the crochet ones please? I’m looking on Trevor website and can see the two different types but not sure which ones to get? Thanks ps it looks really good x
I love your method I am getting ready to do mine exactly how you did yours with extensions and I am a guy so I am just doing like a high top dreadlocks thank you for your video I hope my hair goes well and you are absolutely beautiful.
Thank you and glad it helped
Your work can’t dictate how you wear your hair, dreadlocks are a completely normal and natural and look very beautiful xx
True! Thank you
They look really good!! My faux locks are in the process of being made, my hair is long too but I’m using the crochet method to install mine. My hair won’t be shown at all. I will braid my hair into several corn rows going back, then loop the locks through. I like the look, but temporary is fine for me. I love my hair, so this is good for diversity & versatility. Also, all that work & your makeup is still looking gorgeous!!
Ah amazing .. I’d love to have them put in permanent but I’m a wimp, maybe one day 😝and aww thanks haha
@@LunaLily you’re welcome! & I don’t blame you’ I’m a wimp too! Plus I love my hair being free, it allows for versatility & so many different styles.
Love it at 14 minutes too. The mix of both is bomb. You are so gorgeous. Subbbing in case you have any makeup tutorials!
Aw thank you 😊 I do leave more hair out ontop now when I do them. I will do make up stuff one day!
Omg thank you for this!!! I’m so sick of my self consciousness about doing up my dead shitty hair these days- I thought dreads were the key but was too scared to commit!!! This is PERFECT alternative!!
Aww great glad I could help 😊
I think I like it with the fringe out. You have way more patience than me lol. I would have given up after the first hour! They look really good though and you did all that work. I think I would keep them in a little longer just because of that.
Yeh me too! I think I liked normal hair out at the top I should of left more out haha 😊
Thanks glad you liked them and they’re already out sadly 😩 in summer I’m going to do it and keep them longer
I did this to my hair and made them myself for 2 years in like every different color after having real dreads and then having to take them out was the worst experience for my hair ever so I loved the fact I could have dreads then take them out with little damage. Taking them out takes a long time too but it was all worth it!!! Love the color match and keeping the front hair out!
Aw yeh I bet! And oh it took agessss taking them out 😓 haha thank you 😊
These look so amazing on you! 😊
Oh thank you! ☺️
I love them. It looks good with the loose hair on top. Wow its awesome.
Thanks 😊
Wow your hair looks amazing 😍 I've been looking into dreads extension thankd for the video
Aw thanks glad you like it 😊
I love them well done you. It’s inspired me to try them as I am so unhappy with my hair since I had chemotherapy it’s is now so fine it’s depressing, 🙏 it does not look weird at all. ❤❤defo leave in for longer though ❤❤
Aw thank you 😊 that’s great! I hope they can make you feel better about your hair if you try them
Thanks for this i'm aiming for viking style look and i didn't want to commit to full time dreads and this gives me a really cool alternative plus i like that i'll be able to take them out and wash my hair properly in the shower because i get soriocis on my scalp and face and would hate to think what it would get like without being able to use my medicated shampoo
Ah amazing I’m glad I could help 😊 good luck!
Ur eyebrows are ABSOLUTE GENIUS!!!! I LOVE THEM🖤🖤🖤
Haha.. thanks I think
Hey I love your video. How many dreads did you use? I have just under shoulder length hair and I have 30? Is that enough? Xx
Thanks 😊 hmm I definitely used more than 30 it doesn’t really matter on the length it’s how thick your hair is but you could try I guess!
I love the idea of trying these and not 100% commiting to getting dreads, I think you done a awsome job 🖤✌
Thank you 😊
Sorry if you already mentioned it my kids are screaming how in total in this video how many did you use? I have 25 double ended and don’t want such a bulky look and wondering if it’ll be enough before I put it in lol
I think it was about 40 ish
Omg you make it look so easy!!! Hi many did it take do you remember I want dreads now 💯
Haha thanks hmm about 35 maybe with a bit of hair left on the top
Do you do these dreads on hair? And if so what about hair that's just grown back from chemo. From another bolton lass ❤️❤️❤️
I don’t put them in other people if that’s what you mean, I just did my own 😫 and I’m not sure about hair after chemo.. maybe if you Instagram Dreads UK where I bought these they would be able to help more with questions!
a nice little blanket stitch braid, i find they work much better for single ended dreads like this anyway and they definitely work better on really long hair like yours.
Yeh I agree .. looks neater too ☺️
Youre beautiful with or without dreads. I think they look really good on you!!!! Fake or real, I LOVE that you stepped outside the box and did it!!!!! I Love your content!!! Cant wait for the next video!!! 😁
Aww thank you 😘 and I’m glad you liked them!! ☺️
I needed a tutorial to add a few faux locs to my pirate costume and this was perfect ty
Glad I could help! ☺️
Your dreads look great. The color matches your hair perfect too. Good job.
Thank you, I currently have them again .. can’t wait to not have a heavy head 😂😂
@@LunaLily I put braids in my hair recently & had to remove them the next day. Sore scalp.
The first time I put these in I had the worst pain that I took them out a day later .. this time I’ve had them in for about 2 weeks now and I love them, no pain at all.. very weird!!
You did a great job, they look really good, especially for the first time doing it.
Thanks!! Yeh I don’t think I did bad at all.. will definitely get them done professionally next time to see the difference.
Where did you buy your dreads they look awesome
It’s in the title and description and video 😊 haha dreads uk.. that’s the company name
And thank you 😊
They look good! Try taking a brush or your fingers to the braids and frizzing them out a little, that might help?
Yeh .. I don’t have them in now but maybe next time! I just didn’t want to knot my real hair too much 😩🙈
I subbed. Thanks for sharing this! I’ve been thinking about adding some dreads underneath my hair in several places and had no idea what to do with those loops on the ends. Now I can mess around with it and figure it out! Have you ever done the double ended kind?
Yeh I didn’t know either before haha 😊 thanks for watching! And no I haven’t tried double ended!
Absolutely beautiful! Thank you! I'm looking forward to trying this out.
Aw thanks 😊
I love your natural hair, my own is super thick and frizzy and tangles easy, I also love the dreads on you, but your super pretty so you can pull it off.
Aw thank you I bet you have beautiful hair!
LOOKS GREAT ON YOU ! ! YOU COULD HAVE TRIED USING A CROCHET HOOK( ITS THE SAME SORTA IDEA, RIGHT?)
IT WORKED FOR ME, TOOK A BIT LONGER,BUT I GOT THE SAME RESULTS FOR DOING MY HAIR! AND I TOOK MY TIME.
STILL LOOKS GREAT!
Yehhh I didn’t have one though! I’ll definitely get a tool for next time to help! Thanks 😊
Looks gorgeous!!! Stunning application well done! I love it
Aw thank you ☺️
I just started mine before I saw this and wish I had started with not so much hair at first! It looks pretty wacky for me lol
Haha you’ll get better at it 😊
You look phenomenal with dreads 🖤
Aw thank you 😊
These are beautiful 🖤 how many did you use in the end? I want to do 3/4 of my hair. The color match is superb too. X
I do about 3/4 of my hair now when I do it and use about 40 😊
Wow, ❤💖❤ the dreads 👍 they definitely look like they're ur real hair
. Oh yeah, I like the dreads with some of your straight normal hair think it looks more realistic that way!!
Do u know if they ship to the United State??
I want some!!!!!!!!
Aww thanks 😊 yeh same .. I leave a bit more out on the top now!
I’m not too sure, maybe give them a message!
After all of that work you need to figure out a way to get your boss to like it ♥
Hahah to be fair I don’t think she would be mad about it .. but it’s my work review and stuff soon so don’t want to rub her the wrong way 😂
@@LunaLily Well I think they look very nice. Good luck with your review ♥
Thanks ☺️
Absolute love them can't wait to do it myself!!!!! How many did you use in the end??
Thanks 😊 Maybe about 40
Thanks I'm going to try your way. My hair is butt length so the braids would come too low. I used to have natural ones cos my hair started dreading itself when I was homeless. I feel like putting a few purposeful ones in could symbolize that part of my life but also how it's different now.
That sounds like a very cool idea 😊
Wow those dreads are incredible and what a great job you did putting them in. It does seem a shame to take them out after a few days because of the effort you put in but I see your point about work
Thank you glad you liked them 😊 I know 😩 they’re already out. I might put them in in summer time when I’m off!
I love it! Looks so good on you. What length did you get x
Aw thank you 😊 I’m unsure tbh! They were sent to me … I would say they’re over 20” though from where my normal extensions go .. maybe like 22”?
Great! I am soooo tempted! Love your content xxc
I loved your hair .. I know this video is like a year old but wow ! I am an older lady and you have sold me on this to try beautiful 💖
Thank you 😊 I appreciate it
How many dreads would you say you had in at 13.35? I'm buying some braid ins soon - was thinking maybe 25, but I'm not sure if it'll be enough to achieve the same affect you have at 13.35. That's exactly what I'm going for though, I love it - it really suits you!
When I have quite a bit out on the top I generally use about 30-35
I love these types of dread’s
Thank you ☺️
Been thinking about getting real dreads but don't wanna go through that awkward stage until they look good, so maybe ill get dread extentions instead? Then again my hair is pretty long and i dont have the money for the extensions rn 😂
Yeh why not! Least then you can see how it looks ☺️ haha aww .. maybe for Christmas or something?
No no girl dont play yaself you look AWESOME...I love the way it turned out...and your makeup is gorgeous 😍
Aw thank you, I’ve done them lots of times since and leave more hair out ontop now.. looks much better 😊
I think it looks incredible!
Aww thank you 😊
Awesome on the dreads and your eye look was too, I like the idea of synthetic dreads, cause I'm hair challenged, Can't get it to grow real long it starts to curl in on its self.
Thanks 😊 aww yeh haha mine sort of seems to stop growing at a certain length too.
I have the best tip for your back and arms... And neck too! Ok, so you do most of your work by feel ya? Lie down on a bed or massage table where you have use of your arms past the plane of the back of your neck.
You can lie on a massage table dorsal side down, with your arms extended above (below). Test it out! Please let me know if that helps with your fatigue... No reason to fight gravity 💜🤘
I just ordered a set from them today I’m so excited
Ah nice! 😊
Hi. What length and color are they please as i would like to order them xxx
Light grey and I think there’s only 1 length? They’re about 20”
@@LunaLily Thankyou they look beautiful on you.
Yesssss that's what I'm dealing with rn is my arms haha I love your page n your gorgeous 🥰
Aw thank you ☺️
I love your channel!! Thank you for sharing this! You look so good with dreads😍🥰🙏🏽
Aw thank you I appreciate it
Love this! I really want to do it. I have no idea how many packs to buy, though. I think they come in packs of 10 pieces on Dreads UK. Any ideas anyone? Thanking you!
Apparently a full head is 6-8 packs depending on how much hair you have and how you want them!
I just dreaded my hair tonight but its too short it looks silly, I wish I had known about thess before! Its harder to attach them to actual dreads. Can you leave these in & wash like normal (with dread shampoo obviously)? I had dreads for 8 years before but never used the extensions. Wanted them again but as I said, but hairs too short! I can't stand having to style my hair everyday so thats why I love dreads!
I’m sure it still looks great 😊 yeh as far as I’m aware you can get these dreaded into real hair and it stays in and you wash them with the shampoo etc … I only tried to wash them once as it took ages to dry but it was fine!
Wow! What an Amazing job you did! It looks fantastic! Hope you got some good sleep, take care❤️
Aww thank you! You know what I slept awfully hahah they were so sore 😩
You did amazing, great effort and well worth the time spent... Looks amazin!!! Xx
Thank you ☺️
@@LunaLily you are so welcome x
Hi-they look great! Im about to order some from dreads uk and i have very similar length hair to you and was wondering how many dreads you ordered as I was thinking around 30\40 dreads? Xxx
They say 60 for a full head, if you want to leave some hair out ontop I use about 40 😊
Patience of a saint.
Yeh ... I’d say it took me about 6 or 7 hours altogether (mini breaks included) 👀💀
they look awesome! you did a great job and they suit you so much x
Aww thank you ☺️
Can you do this growing out a buzz cut or hair too short? Looks great!
Depends how short .. you’d need it long enough to atleast be able to do a tiny little plait just to keep them in!
Love ur dreads getting me some soon excited 😀but yes just the thrill of not having to do anything to ur head omfg. By the way you are beautiful
Aw thank you.. and yes I love wearing them! Not doing my hair for weeks is heaven 😂 but then taking them out and itching your head is amazing too
LOVE!!! I ordered some from Dreads UK (but live in US) I wonder how long they will take to arrive?? Did it take you awhile to receive yours?? ☺️
Hopefully not too long! Mine only took a few days but I’m in the UK, hope you like them ☺️
W🖤W they look soooo good!!! You’re so adorable!!!
Thank you 😊
Girl I LOVE these on you!!! Keep them!♡♡♡♡ It suits you amazingly! ♡♡♡
Haha thank you! They are out now sadly but might get them again in summer ☺️
Oh wow I love these and your neck tattoo! I had real dreadlocks for a while, and sadly they had to go, this is a cool idea, I’m going to look into them, I feel like this will take me hours too.
Thank you ☺️ and Oh it does take hours but I love them! You should try it
Wow definitely a great color match. I've heard of dreads UK & want to try some of their products. I've heard they are an excellent company. I might just have to order some extensions myself because those look so well made & definitely have to try their dread shampoo. You did a great installment job hun
An amazing colour match.. didn’t think they would be so similar! I’ve worn them 3 times now so for a total of about 6 months and they still look great 😊
Thanks
I need answer.. when washing the hair, is it necessary to unattached the extension first or I can wash it directly with rubber bands?? Please I need answer 😭 and thank you very much
You can wash it with them in but I wouldn’t recommend it often at all... I only wash mine probably once every 5 weeks. If I’ve left normal hair out ontop I just wash that bit of hair over the sink I don’t wash the dreadlocks. They take too long to dry, the hairdryer can snap the elastic bands and if not dried fully they can smell damp/mouldy. Only wash that part if you really need to.
@@LunaLily one More thing, so if I attach extensions in to my hair for the first time, I can keep them attached as long as the rubber bands aren't breaking?
Yes they’re not like normal hair extensions that you take in and out everyday, these take hours to put in and you leave them in for as long as you like (usually about 4-7 weeks is when they start getting too loose because they slide down a bit and your hair grows!) the bands keep them in .. unless they break but if they do break you just put another one in 😊
@@LunaLily alright, thank you very much!!! 🙂
You are so pretty! Thank u for posting this video! I really want to try this fake dreads to see if my work will like it. If not, then I can take it off!!
Thank you and yeh you should try it! 😊
WOW, props to you for doing all that yourself! They turned out great!! I had the fake hair braids quite a few years ago, luckily a friend put them in for me! I wore them for 3 months.. Your absolutely right, best thing about it is not having to do your hair in the morning!!! hahaha
Haha thanks! Glad you think so .. oh nice, was your hair not tangled when you took it out?
It was awful & took just about as long to take them out as it did to put them in, lol.. It did a number on my hair 😕 but it was totally worth it to not have to do my hair for 3 whole months, hahaha
Oh jeez haha .. yeh it took me a few hours to take them out too 😊 and haha true! I’m gonna do them again in summer
How many did you end up using? I can’t decide how many to order...
They say about 50+ is full head I used about 40 this last time when I left some out ontop
This was entertaining af to me (Its ALMOST 3AM and ive watched like 9 vids so far)
Haha aw thanks, glad I entertained anyway 😂
The method that you like using is actually "legitimate", aka it's another known way of putting in your dreads. It's called stitch-fixing. I use this method to install my dreads and love the look of it, definitely prefer it over a general braid as well.
Oh that’s cool.. yeh I think it looks a lot neater
Looks beautiful!
Aw thank you 😊
Yesss! This looks amazing on you & exactly how I want my hair . How many packs did you end up buying to achieve this? I’m from the US so buying from this UK site might end up being way to expensive for me . I found a seller on aliexpress that sells 10 strand pack for 10 dollars so I was gonna get 6 packs but I’m not sure if that will be enough .i have pretty thick hair btw
Aw thank you 😊 hmmm my hair isn’t super thick ... I only use about 40-45 of them (just counted 😂)
They look so good we’re did you order the dreads from
DreadsUK the link should be in the description 😊
Dreads nor straight hair suits you well ,your so beautiful hope you do make up tutorial 😍😍😍
Aw thank you 😊 and maybe one day!
Wow ,i'll wait for that ,thank u for the reply😍😍😍
how long did you keep these in and what was the removal process like? very curious - i am having mine installed soon and want to know how much damage (if any) you experienced from them
I only kept these about 2 days so can’t really tell you about damage as I didn’t wear them for any length of time sadly! 😓 I’m getting them again soon though I think. Removal was ..... difficult. Not going to lie. My mum did it for me because it was hard on myself when I couldn’t see properly .. it took her about 5 hours to remove them all 😫
@@LunaLily Gotchya. And whoa! I hadn't even considered the amount of time it will take for removal. Thanks for the heads up and for the reply :)
Your hair loooks PRETTY 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks so much
They look cool! I dig em.
Thanks ☺️🤘🏻
