I doubt anyone forgot that Jack Swagger was Mr. Money In The Bank. He gave everyone enough time to go to the bathroom and grab snacks while he tried to unhook the briefcase.
I think in 2009 or 2008 there was a poll on the official WWE website how the next febuary PPV should be called. Options were next to the traditional name No Way Out a few others. Elimination Chamber won. Thats how it got startet with events named after the stipulations and the whole gimmick PPV concept started, which storyline-wise never made sense..Next by next classic names like Judgement Day, Unforgiven, No Mercy or Armageddon (or December to Dismember 😅) weren't used anymore. @@pradyumnpurohit5597 I agree. I do however, understand why it was raken off the show. Personally, I would've moved it to Summerslam instead of creating a new show.
@@pradyumnpurohit5597yeah, might as well do the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber at WrestleMania as well, right?... Not every big match needs to be at WrestleMania, it just devalues the rest of the PPVs throughout the year

Championship Scramble needs to return! It should have came back last year in NXT but instead they decided to give us the Iron Survivor Challenge which a slightly more complicated version. I don't know who came up with that idea but they must have binge watched all of TNA's Reversal Battle Royales and Reverse Ladder Matches.
Honestly, the Iron Survivor match is refreshing imo, it’s a great stipulation for the most part, and it’s complicated, on paper, but in execution is pretty simple.
I actually didn’t mind Capital punishment mainly because how cool the set was. I miss when WWE would go all out with heir presentation and make each PPV look and feel unique. I feel now they just use the same raw/smackdown layout and just put a different graphic on the screens and change the ring skirts instead of fully going all in. I get it saves money but it takes away from the experience. I never could afford to see the PPVs love as a kid but I use to love playing the SvR games and see all the PPVs
I just bought the new 2k and started looking through the different venues and was bummed out that pretty much Clash in the Castle was the only unique looking PPV. I remember loving SVR with the amazing looking sets for Judgement Day, new years revolution etc. even the old Smackdown entrance. Too much reliance on LED screens and cgi nowadays.
It's a shame that R-Truth never got another WWE Championship opportunity like he did against Cena at Capital Punishment. His character work was top notch, fantastic promos, and good match to boot. It's not all bad though, his tag team with Miz would be the WWE center focus for a few months so they could prepare them for the Awesome Truth vs Rock/Cena tag match at Survivor Series. I imagine that was a very good payday for him and the Miz.
I think in 2009 or 2008 there was a poll on the official WWE website how the next febuary PPV should be called. Options were next to the traditional name No Way Out a few others. Elimination Chamber, KotR, Royal Rumble and MitB are the only stipulation based PPVs that work. Fatal 4 way was also fun. Personally I think more generalized PPV stipulations work better. Example No Way Out featured a variety of enclosed matches like steel cage, HiaC and Elimination Chamber. But naming it after one stipulation is stupid. At least use it to its full potential like Extreme Rules should be TV14, allow blading and every match be an extreme rules style match (especially since WWE will call extreme rules matches everything under the Sun from street fight to bar fight to tribal combat to whatever else).
Creative was at all time low and they wanted to do yearly ppvs so they didn't have to work toward a storlyine as it was to hard for them to write strotlines going into matches
It’s absolutely mind boggling how many weird PPV concepts and other concepts WWE tried coming up with instead of just writing good storylines. That’s literally all they had to do was write good stories and none of this other bs would’ve been needed.
@Wrestleology yeah sadly the only themed shows are elimination chamber, hell in a cell ,extreme rules ,royal rumble ,survivor series and TLC we need more variety
Aye man this had some good scriptwriting. I usually skip these kinds of videos because they're usually a regurgitation of what everyone already says but the editing and transitions and opinions made this video really enjoyable.
Personally I think he needs to do another round of spellchecking since there was a noticeable number of typos in the onscreen captions, it got kinda distracting. Also does UA-cam really not let you show someone kicking a person in the chest? The blurring on specifically the chest shots perplexed me.
Themed PPVs can work when they serve as essentially a multi-person number-one contenders match (Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, Money in the Bank). But when they're just having a certain match type based on a certain time of year (TLC, Hell in a Cell etc.) rather than because the feud calls for it, it falls flat. Survivor Series can still work when they actually treat it seriously as a concept. Having randomly thrown together 5-on-5 elimination matches just for the sake of it doesn't, but when there's actually meaningful stakes behind it, it can work. Doing Raw v. Smackdown elimination matches and champion v. champion matches there the past several years didn't work that well because it always felt like an artificial war over "bragging rights" that meant nothing a week later. But I think if they had used it as part of the Draft rather than doing it a month after it, it could've worked better. The Champion v. Champion matches could've determined a Draft pick for each different division (main event, women, mid-card, tag teams), while the 5-on-5 matches could've worked for multiple Draft picks for the winning brand. I'd even go one step further and have it be however many people survive on the winning team, that's how many Draft picks they get, so it gives extra incentive for people to work together to get more picks for their brand. And then the winning brand of the best-of-7 series at the end of the night also gets additional picks based on the final score of all the Raw v. Smackdown matches (5-2, 4-3, 6-1, or even 7-0), which you could stretch out over the next few weeks of programming to add some spice to an otherwise dead time of year on the calendar. It'd be better than authority figures/legends just reading off 5 names at a time like the lazy approach to the Draft has been the past few years and without the redundancy of people who are already on Smackdown getting drafted right back to Smackdown. Then of course the new rosters can take shape at the start of the new year right in time for WrestleMania season. So rather than A.J. Styles fighting for Team Smackdown because he got Drafted there 3 weeks ago, he can represent Smackdown in the Royal Rumble, but it'll still be every man for himself.
