Inception Behind the Scenes - The Train (2010) Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy Movie HD

How this movie didn't win oscar for best production design is beyond me
Bcoz it's more than a Oscar
because Oscar is all about political correctness bullshit
@Wenchen Zhao Right...in the production design category. Come on dude.
oscars dont care about quality, they care about pandering. theres a reason why black panther is the only marvel movie to get so many awards despite infinity war being MILES better
because Oscar is not a reward for fair judgement, it's all about marketing and business purpose.
This movie has a perfect beginning, perfect idea (literally), a perfect ending, a perfect dialogue, perfect effects, perfect performance, perfect characters, perfect EVERYTHINGGGG
My Thoughts This was Nolan’s peak.
No fool, the movie lacks the prestige.
I thought that was CG holy crap. practical effects for the win.
Imagine if they had been able to run an actual locomotive down the street for it.
Same w Dark Knight. Look up the truck scene making. That's just Christopher Nolan ❤️
@@aadittilak106 yeah. The Dark Knight truck scene where it does the flip was real
Red car totally deserved it, they ran a red light...
+discorobotz It was where Leo and Ellen were... supposedly
@@zamirstuff - But in the movie, the train his Leo's side while the car is not moving. 🤷♂️
UNDDERATED COMMENT LMAO
If he the ironman's director,, he is will build the real iron suit..
jon favreu actually did many things practical and used cg to enhance.
Peace Keeper nolan and favreau ain’t compatible
ENGLISH 100
I know Nolan likes using practical effects
I though this scene was cgi
He literally brought the train on road
Hope he doesn't make a movie which has city destroyed in it. He will end up destroying one for real
Sharath V Haha he won't make such stupid films
**blows up pittsburgh bridges**
He almost did in TDKR
@@williamfrederickiversen8518 lol, tdkr is best nolan movie
And now he crashed a real plane
This clip actually revealed a lot more about this scene than what I remember was in the Bluray. When I saw this movie in it's theatrical run I remember loving how surrealistic it felt. It was actually one of the scenes from the trailer that sold me on seeing this movie.
Nolan should live forever..........he is just like his movies A MASTERPIECE
Its amazing how few CGI was used
Nolan: Hold my Boeing 🛩
Lol I need that truck, imagine seeing that in your rear view mirror
I remember The Train on the trailer sold me this movie. I didnt know Nolan Back then.
Brilliant. Had no idea how they did this. I do remember wondering what kind of madness it takes to create such a scene when I was watching the movie.
Fully expected this to be a miniatures sequence. Very impressive that they did this full scale and mainly in camera without use of miniatures.
just wait until you see the behind the scenes for TENET when they say they actually crashed a plane through a building
yeah its real
Really its worth watching movie i will watch this movie again and again
I always thought they used a real train and CGI it into the scene. This is the realist fake locomotive I've seen in a movie. It looks almost exactly like a GP35. There are some very specific spotting features of that type of Locomotive in real life and they replicated it very well
Wow. All that time and effort Nolan puts into something that was on screen for like 10 seconds is out of this world.
Huge respect for every single human being for making this masterpiece 🤯🤯...... 🔥🔥
Oh man it was killin me to know how this scene was done i hit the jackpot with this video. A train running though a city street was so friggin intriguing not sure if it's the imagery or something but the scene is powerful.
directors like him should get more recognition..
Thanks for this video. I always thought they have used existing tram railways and put a train over there.
Awesome scene.
the train looks realistic and is definitely form real life the only problem I have with it is it kinda wiggled too much... the railings did I mean...
i mean the train is heavily based on a train from real life...
trains rule it's an EMD SD40-2
Exactly, got a model sitting on my dresser right now.
i might recreate this scene out of legos, but i would have to build the correct train, closest i have is 10219, aka the Maersk train. and i would probrably use it towing my TTX Intermodal Cars.
The detail on those train parts is insane. They look just like the real thing.
This guy is a mad genius
1:57 There is a dude in that car...
And he was paid handsomely to be there. Did look painful though.
It's a dream so he's not real
@@qaskas was he though
Yes? He's a stunt driver. Cars normally don't drive by themselves. (Excluding Tesla)
a dummy
I just watched the film for the first time last night.
Ok now I'm going to turn my semi into a frigging train and drive on the streets
Nolan - I need a train you know .., Producer- sure that’s easy piece of cake , Nolan - on middle of streets , producer - wait wtf
They could have filmed the sequence in downtown tampa, there is an active rail line going smack dab through the center of downtown on the street
cars: what a big traffic
train: im gonna cut the line
dope
just a normal day in Michigan City
This was very hard for me to distinguish between a real and a fake, kudos to the prop makers
you know since the movie came out, i always wondered, is that cg or is that practical. well now i know lol
With how the way they did this train scene, they should of won an Oscar award or something for doing something this creative with a train. I wouldn't imagine trains in movies going off the tracks and driving through city streets and bulldozing cars and trucks out of the way and ripping up the asphalt as it travels down the path. They should make more movies about trains driving through city streets and causing mayhem. So, Bring on more movies of trains jumping off the tracks and terrorizing the streets of either New York City, Los Angles, or maybe even Las Vegas! Even trains with lawnmower blades, spikes, saw blades, machine guns, etc. Oh yeah, the ultimate doomsday vehicle: a 100 ton locomotive with guns, spikes, saw blades, and lawn mower blades. Now that will turn up a lot of fun for a great action or disaster movie.
This reminds me of GTA5...
Nolan goes all the way... RESPECT... He would have shot Interstellar in actual space if he could...
That would have been amazing!!, they actually flipped a truck in Chicago, bale jumped off a building in hong kong, they blew up a building and that's just the dark knight. Honestly the fact he goes all the way is truly amazing
That engine should be wearing CSX paint.
Practical effects always look so much better. Like I was watching the avengers the other day and it looked so fake.
I wish i had that train so i can drive it down a street lol
Here comes the CHOOCHOO!!!!
So what did they do with it after the filming was completed?
I wanted more scenes like this, not the winter shoot out scene.
I was kinda disappointed when it came to the snow part. That dream wasb't as exciting as the first two dreams.
However, I get why they chose it. They needed it to contrast with the other dreams, so it'd be easier for the viewers to understand in which dream we are in any moment. And the snow is white and in an open environment.
2:12 lucky that they spared that E34 wagon
What nolan will do if he direct a 'saw' movie
Omg I want that...
that hair in the back of Chrisopher Nolan is irritating me
Train tearing through the road was necessary touch because that's what it will do in reality
i want the locomotive shell for my truck make it a shunter or something
Chris: We made a train run rode for real.
Michael Bay: Well, I just green screen them....
lol
This is so quiet!
I didn't know the train was real.
I want to build this and I wanna drive it
The.... the coupler is upside down....
It looks to be a GP Locomotive type
why the fudge is the music too loud and the voice over too low. you should learn about audio before making a youtube video.
Those poor 740s
If the movie directed by Nolan, don't expects the explosion and destruction is CGI.
Hacker in gta be like
audio is so bad..cant really hear anything.
2:18 was that a goof? The yellow cab got damaged before the train hit it.
It probably just came damaged from a junkyard and they didn't bother to hide it
@@btafan11 Nah it was the cab used for ramming into the cars that were in the way, this scene was filmed out of sequence.
I thought it was vfx
WHAT? I THOUGHT THIS WAS ALL CGI.
Same w Dark Knight. Look up the truck scene making. That's just Christopher Nolan ❤️
@@aadittilak106 Nolan is a genius
i didn't understand why the train comes in between
That was the imagination of cobb
The train symbolizes Fischer's subconscious protecting from extraction by Cobb and team. The former has been trained on this.
But how is it possible without Ariande building it?
@@vasanthkumarvkr train was not the part of the protection Fischer was trained of.. train symbolizes Cobb's memories he brought with him
@@squirrel6837 just like Cobb's wife and his kids.. the train was Cobb's imagination
The question is, If the train was made by CGI, the production of the movie would be lower or higher?
Practical way more effective than CGI
Probably the same or even higher, because the frigging computer animators would demand an astronomical salary to produce that effect.
With such a big budget, I thought they had used a real train. Shame.
I'm pretty sure what mattered more than the train was the budget.
Christopher Nolan = Christopher NoCGI
Inception. Jin gadho ke Paas akkal nahi hai. Inception. Roflmao
Well my lord Allah put barier which people cant see like people saw in the middle of the sea which two sea doesn’t mixed between them is unseen barrier same way my lord put unseen barriers so when big amoount of people come they die in accidents as u all saw before ✋
Aynan ,isa,Jesus Khan .j If you mean the Atlantic and the Pacific, there is no 'invisible wall' - it's the differences in temperature, density and salinity, and the effect of currents, that inhibits them from mixing.
Science is your friend. :)
OMG. It made me less worried while watching the movie to think it was all CGI. Now I won't dare to watch a Chris Nolan film without a calming pill. What a bada**.
Same w Dark Knight. Look up the truck scene making. That's just Christopher Nolan ❤️
glad he doesn't directed THE DESTINATION
Poor audio. DO OVER!
A real locomotive would not deflect upon strikes with automobiles as we see here.
Why not use a real train on the track down the middle of the street in Tampa, Florida?
That's exactly what I thought. I watched real trains crash videos on UA-cam. A real train would smash cars like they're made out of plastic. The crew should have driven a truck, the fake train, much faster and slow the video down to simulate real train inertia.
so, they have tonns of money to bring train into the city street, and they didnt have money to just fly to tampa))
because it's meant to be a dream. Having a train appear on tracks would not actually look weird. Having a train driving down the middle of a road, swerving slightly, is something you could imagine happening in a dream.
It did not swerve. Was deflected. They probably did not think of using the track down the street in Tampa.Would have $aved co$ts and time of building a fake train.
Robert Gift Again, the moving around makes it more surreal. A track would look dumb for it.
Also if you look at the sets Nolan builds then budget for stuff like this is more of an afterthought.
......weirdest.................
