My issue with your point is that they grew simultaneously physically if she was 50 shouldn’t see either be older when she found Amy or she should not have grown at the same rate your comment sparked this observation and if there are any in universe examples where a child of galifrey (no idea on spelling) growing at a similar rate because it would be by my inferences that a timelord would have an exstended childhood and keep the majority of not all regenerations in there 20 -30 human time so wouldn’t the rates of growth be longer.
Alternatively Mel may have had a human growth rate while having an extended adult life meaning that she would be an adult 59 years on as we have seen that regeneration doesn’t reduce your outward age to the point of being a child from every instance of regeneration ( that I have seen I’ve never watched classic) and Mel regenerated to look to be a similar age as before so this is confusing me.
I would be happy to hear if you have counter evidence but this is what I can infuse from my reading of the above comment and personal knowledge but I may be lacking information and am willing to admit when I am wrong

If my memory is correct it's river who "confirms" that Amy missed a with what we find out later in the season so it is possible she lied to further conceal her true identity and the girl regenerated from being shot and if we put together take what we know about river from the weeping angels 2 parter from season 5 that she was already in jail for killing a man and the open plot to season 6 she was in jail for killing the doctor cause the date of her killing the doctor is said to be a fixed point in time which is April 22nd 2011

Tricky Dicky had "Daddy Issues" because his old man was a total prick to him and kept telling him how worthless he was. So he did whatever it took to become THE most powerful Man on Earth just to rub it in his old man's face. Nixon wasn't "...a crook." but he wasn't a vestal virgin either. He was however the first sitting President to visit Red China, he declared war on Cancer, and ended our involvement in South Vietnam before he resigned in disgrace. Remember, absolute power corrupts absolutely. It's no excuse, but it does explain.

The other brilliant thing about the resolution is that there is actually a gap in the moon landing transmission.
Everyone knows the famous quote “one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind” but that’s not actually how it goes. There’s about a second of dead air where the transmission was lost. What Armstrong actually said was “one small step for *a* man, one giant leap for mankind.” It’s actually really clever if you consider that second of dead air where the “a” was lost is in the context of the episode where the Silence footage was placed.

Personally, I love this story, for me it has some of the best characters moments for the 11th doctor, especially the scene in the TARDIS, River is allowed to show depth and vulnerability for a change. My only complaint is about the silence. I wish that whenever they were on the camera goes out of focus so we never get a clear view of them, the design is perfect as it suggests the characters are trying to give it a humanoid form but the body is all distorted and mishapen because the mind can't retain anything about it and therefore trys to fill the gaps.

Christina S. What do you think immediately follows the declaration “you should kill us all on sight?”
I would think it would be a massive number of the Silence then being killed on sight.
The Doctor would have to be incredibly naive to think that his actions would simply chase the Silence off without casualties. He gave a mandate to the entire world to murder another species any time they are seen. Sure the survivors might run in the light of that but given how deeply entrenched the Silence were in controlling earth how many of them must have died before they gave it up? Enough that it would constitute a genocide. And the doctor’s reaction when pulling that switch was “yay I won”.
The Silence might be the bad guys but that is still a lot of death that is being cavalierly celebrated.

These episodes are good and I do like them, but there's one thing I don't like that nearly ruins it for me and that's the Doctor's behavior. First of all, he indirectly commits genocide in the ending. Yes, it doesn't work really, and yes it's not direct, but the sentiment is there. However, I can forgive this because A) he's not Ten, and B).... it's a story, whatever I guess. But what I can't forgive as much is that he literally uses the human race as his weapons to win. And not, like, his metaphorical weapons where they all have to make a phone call or something, actually using them to kill things. And if this was played as a controversial hard thing to do, I'd like it because it'd be a good opportunity for character development, but he just gets away with it easily and it's played off as totally fine. And I consider that very out of character and poorly thought through.

I haven't watched this in awhile so I'm almost certainly misremembering something. The plan was convoluted to be sure. I think it makes sense. They were bouncing around trying to determine how many of The Silence were hanging out on Earth like a bunch of freeloaders. Presumably they knew that eventually The Silence would catch up with them and kill them so they had Canton pretend to kill them and drag them all into the special room that was made of a material they had no right possessing which kept out prying eyes so they could enact their plan without The Silence catching wind. I think that's right.

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!! It is established later down the line that Kovarian took Melody and the Doctor assumed she has been raised in the orphanage. it looks as though she had probably ran away from the orphanage after the events in the episode and been homeless a while and she looks to be no older than like 7 or 8 so a child that age could not survive long on the streets on her own so she most likely was suffering from malnutrition, dehydration, exhaustion and whatever other illnesses she has picked up along the way and also given that when we see her regenerate is six months after the main plot of the episode so its winter by then lets throw in hypothermia for good measure. the combination of those things is what killed her.

I took it that the girl died of either pneumonia ,exhaustion or the cold as she was freezing and coughing (from my memory) so it seems like that due to you not having public health care, but I have never questioned this before so I haven’t put much thought into it

Why did Romana regenerate? not cause she died, was just bored of the skin, but yea the girl did say she was dying. perhaps she was just sick

Pretty sure it's shown that the little girl dies from just living on the street, she gets sick or something. Could be a little more explicit for the gravity of the implications though, I agree.

Not sure if anyone mentioned it, it was ripping herself from the suit that caused the damage. Off you notice they insinuate she'd been in the suit for some time and it had been wired into her biological functions.
Of course that makes no sense factoring in the caretaker at the orphanage but it's Moffat, plot holes are his thing.

Maybe the girl got killed by the silence and the shows didn’t show it because she didn’t remember and to make it seem like the audience doesn’t remember either and trying to do a kinda 4th wall break to where the audience is effected by it as well

My question is, with the Doctor being inside the Tesselecta as it is burned on the boat, how did the machine cope with that? Did it Tesselect itself continuously down into ashes? I would think the flames would have been damaging. Does it have a force field? So many questions.

The way I would have done would have been that it wasn't petrol Canton gave, it was just a tank of water, and it wasn't fire which engulfed the Doctor - it was regeneration energy. Given how it's his last incarnation, it wouldn't have been enough for a new body, but enough to heal his wounds. Then there'd be an ongoing mystery in Series 7 - who is the unknown Doctor? Why doesn't he ever talk about him?
Also, I'd have River be the companion for Series 7.

I didn't catch it until my second watching... In the scene that introduces the young Canton, there is a familial tension between the lead secret service agent and Canton. The removing of the drink from Canton's hand and the extra level of tension in their argument in the Oval office about the Doctor...

In context, when we actually find out exactly what the Silence are (which isn't until The Time of the Doctor aired, about 2 1/2 years after the 2-parter), their actions make even less sense.
And the transition from the end of The Impossible Astronaut to the start of Day of the Moon was just as jarring in 2011 with a week in between them.

Adore these two. Still stands up and is super dark and awesome. The silence is superb and such a great idea. The whole cast knock it out the park. 10 out of 10
Incidently regarding the arc I think the BBC might have mandated changes when the series was split in two. So I am not sure how much he is allowed to follow all the threads. I remember the split suddenly felt very different when it came back. Still love This series tho. Enjoying watching them all again.

This is where Stephen Moffat's ADHD as a show runner really starts to take over... He gets caught up in creating these threads and stories that, for the most part, he either forgets or just finishes in a slapdash and haphazard way.
