If the tuners are positioned properly, when you put the string through, and pull it tight, and lock it down, there will not have to be any Wraps of the string around the tuning post. Which makes tuning more accurate, and you have less string slippage and stretch.
I like the Elixir strings, there are two kinds, the nanoweb and the polyweb. The nanoweb should be called nonoweb as in don't buy this kind because they suck really bad with shit flaking off the strings in no time at all. The polyweb are great and the really hold up well and sound awesome.
And I use the nanoweb and don't have that problem at all.... maybe there are batches and batches, or they fixed it already and people are bitching about something that happened a long time ago.
Hi Dave, love your videos. I have never seen saddles in that configuration. The G and B are closer to the nut than their next higher string. Did you check the intonation? If they are correct could you explain this method to me please? All the best to you and yours.
I respect the reason behind cleaning the fret board. Although I like to look at my dirty work on my finger tips. Is that wrong? And if it is IDC. HAHA.
I have a maple fretboard on my strat and for some reason it gets extremely dirty. I can make strings turn black in a day and gray shit even builds up on my nut. Is it my hands being dirty or just skin coming off? Also, could I just use windex to clean it? The body has lacquer and the neck has polyurethane
TupolevPilot how old is the guitar? If it is old maybe the lacquer is degrading, if it is new then maybe fender used a bad batch of lacquer that degraded too quickly
TupolevPilot Oh sorry didnt read the comment completely, but windex would be bad idea, the ammonia in it might cause the lacquer on the neck to degrade and become extremely brittle and thus flake off
Thanks again, Dave. I get a kinda relaxed feeling watching your videos. There's a lot of repetition, but that's just the way it is, and that probably means I have learnt a lot from you. Maybe there's a little less "fun" these days? You certainly aren't swearing as much! Well, do what you wanna fucking do. :) I'll be back.
Fake fake fake 'Wide Range Humbuckers' that Fender puts on their shit nowadays. Not magnetized pole piece PUPs. These are simply bar magnet Gibson-style HBs and will not sound remotely like the pickups used by Keith Richards, Rich Robinson or Thurston Moore. They aren't even great standard HBs st that. The Creamery and Lollar versions of '70's WRHs will get you way closer to the sound and they do cost a bit but these guitars are great otherwise.

Come on Dave! Why did you post this, add revenue? You've shown us this dozens of times. Waste of time!
This video won't generate any ad revenue worth making note of. Not worth the time he put into it. And if you didn't want to hang with Dave for a few, why did you watch the video? He taught us everything we needed to know years ago...these days it's just about hanging out and listening to Dave talk shit...and that's hardly a waste of time. :)
Thanks Dave, you are reminding us oldies ,with fading memories, all the relevant numbers again, most grateful
Cheers from Downunder........
You Rock Dave. Because of your videos I have been able to work on my own guitars throughout the years and learn much. Keep up the good fight!
Dave's videos helped me too. Especially how to stone frets. I watched Dave and said " I ain't gonna friggin' do it That way!!!" 8^P
Nice set up ,have a great weekend Dave better weather ahead,Cheers
I don't see a lot of people cleaning with Pledge. I like the way it works and gives it a waxy look.
I was just going to watch another video and Dave rang his bell! So here I am watching the Dave's world of fun shit!
"My nuts have a issue..." LOL! Too much info, Dave.
I guess some people don't realize that one of the main reasons for Locking Tuners, is because you don't need ANY WRAPS of the string around the post.
dharleyfan1 any WHAT?

re overspray: in software they're called PICNIC errors. "problem in chair, not in computer".
We used to call it PEBKAC. Problem exists between keyboard and chair. :)

Nanonweb are the "cheaper" ones, aren't they? Had them once, low e string looked like dental floss after playing for like an hour.
There's also the new optiwebs
they are all the same price what are you talking about
And I use the nanoweb and don't have that problem at all.... maybe there are batches and batches, or they fixed it already and people are bitching about something that happened a long time ago.

Is it all the string 4/64 measurement? E low to E high
So do you use Simple Green?

Bahaha I love your username
butterface yours is pretty cool too.
Did I see a House of Guitars sticker on the soldering iron?
Dave's World of Fun Stuff Very cool! I live about 1 mile from the HOG.

TupolevPilot Use to have a similar problem. I suggest washing your hands before you play.

Kirk Wahmmett it is about 6 months old. also, I did the finish.
Kirk Wahmmett there isnt anything wrong with the lacquer. I was just asking if Windex is safe to use on it. I was talking about the neck and nut
TupolevPilot Oh sorry didnt read the comment completely, but windex would be bad idea, the ammonia in it might cause the lacquer on the neck to degrade and become extremely brittle and thus flake off
Throw in some 11s and you will feel that baby resonate!

Yeah it doesn't sound bad especially for Tab Benoit and late Merle Haggard.
Telecaster>Stratocaster
Some doof had to over-wind strings on lockingtuners...bleh...
dave!!!! Im the first one to view!!!! pretty cool hunh dave!!!
Yeah...too cool for words.
lol
Rick ----> Moron.
Almost as cool as "Hey! SAME CAR!!"
Hey
You charge arm / leg for set up from ur repair costs list in ur other video, but its worth it wink
I thought you used lighter fluid on maple finger boards ?????You used Simple Green and your surgical scrub brush on rosewood finger boards.
It's not an original Fender neck -- Fender Thinlines should have the bullet trussrod. It should also have a 3 screw bolt on neck, not 4 screws.
Mine is the has 4 bolts and no bullet truss rod. I have the exact guitar
The owner of this guitar needs to read a book... or ask questions! You don't wrap string around the post on a locking tuner! Ever...
why don't you just throw the locking tuners in the locking tuners bin.

Not a waste of time for me at all! I enjoy all the videos!
