Such realism in a tutorial: “…because that’s what I have on hand…”, “…beat it into submission…”, and of course “duct tape”! Well done.

I had an idea to put a D ring inside the hidden pocket because a lot of vehicles have those fobs that you just need to have on you but not access. It has gone over well.

I love how positive you stay throughout your videos. "It doesn't have to be perfect." You have no idea how much I need to hear those words when sewing. I've destroyed too many a cotton fabric ripping out "imperfect" stitches/seams. I'm definitely coming back to this tutorial once I get some experience under my belt.

Just finished my second bag and i just have to share !! I made the strap a split strap with a zipper, that will allow the bag to be worn as a backpack !! also added an open pocket on the back that allows me to carry my phone against my body , or to drop my keys in . THANKS so much for the video, makes sewing so much easier when i can follow along.

I just finished this bag using ottertex and 12 oz. denim. Wow, you weren't kidding about the fight. I have a very basic Jnanome and I'm proud of her for getting through the layers. I absolutely love how it turned out. I matched it with a metallic rainbow zipper tape, rainbow hardware, and colorful webbing and it is super cute. I initially used a premade binding but it looked awful so I took it off and used your method with strips of ottertex and it's much better. Thank you for this tutorial, it was incredibly helpful with this fun but slightly challenging project.

I'm late the game making one of these bags. Honestly I haven't made a bag in 2.5 years (as is the age of my last little blessing). I found the written instructions a little confusing and you really helped me rebuild my confidence. THANK YOU

I can't tell you how much I love watching your tutorials. Firstly, because I think you're such a lovely person, but also because they are true step-by-step tutorials. I followed along with you and was able to make this bag with no problems. It turned out great! I used the Ottertex WPC, but used a lighter waxed canvas and that combo worked really well. Thanks for all your hard work, Jess!

I have lost count of the number of these I have made. A helpful tip I have is to bind the seams with fold over elastic. Basting first helps too if you have time.

Thanks so much for this tutorial, sewing this bag was so much easier having someone to do it with. I made it for my son for his birthday present out of waxed canvas. Thanks for the tip on the needle size to use. My poor little 20+ year old Pfaff 7570 creative was a trooper! Had a bit of hard time at the most thickest parts. I did not too much on type of zipper to use, I wanted it to be a hardy bag so I chose metal zippers. That was a trick to work around when it came to sewing over them when required but again my Pfaff was great wtih a little help to not hit the metal teeth. I would definatly make this bag again!

I always feel like I'm sewing WITH you when I watch your videos. You are a wonderful teacher. I'm at the binding phase of this little project and took a break to write this. My seams are so thick 1 inch binding was too skinny. I just got finished removing it and will make wider binding as soon as I can muster up the courage to go forward. One thing I will not do again is use Ottertex WPC for the lining or vinyl as the exterior contrast. The seams are just to thick and scary for this project. But as always this isn't a reflection on you or this video. Thanks for all your great videos!

I watched your video then followed directions and replayed portions of your video if I wasn't sure how to construct something. I guess if I just counted cutting and sewing time alone, I would say 8-10 hours but could probably make a second one in more like 6. It wasn't a super fast sew but was well worth the time imo. I'm so excited to give this pattern a try! Your tutorials are always so helpful and highlight patterns I might not ever discover or have the bravery to try. I attempted to use the code, but it didn't seem to work for me.

Make sure you message Caroline at her Etsy shop if you're having problems. The code is good until the end of the year, so you have time to get it working

Hi Joanne, I was curious approximately how many hours did it take you to make this bag? Thank you for your help!

I love your bag tutorials. Your instructions are clear and easy to follow. Could you consider doing a tutorial on the Kandou Crafts Traveler Pouch?

I made the bag and the strap connector broke off. I followed the instructions and love your tutorials. What did I do wrong? I have the Juki 1541s

You stitched the connectors in the UP position, instead of DOWN.

Also, BIC lighters has a bunch of cute designs on lighters now. I saw a commercial for them with Martha Stewart.

I’ve been watching sling bag videos (the equivalent of half my life) in an effort to learn to make them! I purchased a ready made by Vera Bradley and almost immediately found things I wanted to change! Definitely the downside to knowing how to sew! Surprise! Surprise! Your video addressed several changes I want to make! Two things I still want to add are a small (about three inches deep) zipper pocket at the upper part of the back to store my keys (I hate digging) and I think I’d prefer a split zipper strap to allow converting to a backpack. Thank you so much for this detailed and explained video!

I know I should never correct someone as it in poor taste, however, I believe you should know. Fandangle means to acquire through unscrupulous means. Flandangle means to go commando in a flight suit. Very different meanings. Fantastic videos!

Love the tutorial!! I don't know if you noticed it later or not but you sewed the side connectors upside-down when attaching to the back panel. It looks like it probably doesn't matter which way it goes but thought I'd let you know in case you want to say something in the video. You had it in the right direction in the first bag you made. 🙃

Is there a smaller version of this bag available? I would like to wear it on the front rather than the back and I agree, a smaller size would be ideal. Thanks in advance for your reply!
