As someone who was a ballet dancer but had to give it up because of what was later diagnosed as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, I can answer that question. It is hard. Really hard. You literally grieve for the thing/s you have lost and the life that goes with that. But eventually, you do find other things to fill that void - in my case, arts and crafts.

It is basically redundant in humans but in other species such as lions where the males will eat unrecognised cubs, it is life saving
If they had just told the doctor about their child sweet smelling urine... They could have saved so much trouble.... I mean the mother is a nurse right.... She must know that the smell is not normal at all...
30 years ago the exchange of information between doctors specialists was rare , not to say about others whos information sources were tv and newspapers and journalists must search for month sometimes to write about something interesting. its really great the doctor have a clue and was educated enough

This disease is EXTREMELY rare, fewert than 30 babies a year in the US. The US began screening for it earlier than Ireland and Australia did, but it just wasn't made mandatory because it was so unusual. I can tell you I ain't going to Ireland, Australia or even the UK for my medical care needs. No one from the US does.

In all these films they don't make people from outwith the United States aware of how financially crippling these examinations and procedures are for those that have inadequate health insurance, and how high insurance rates can be. I think I called ambulances five or more times when my children were little; luckily they didn't need to be taken to hospital, and the Paramedic Care given to them in my house was wonderful.

I just wish they could come to my house to do the IV drip for a very rare condition I have called P.A.N.D.A.S or P.A.N.S and if you knew anything about it you can't be exposed to sickness or your body reacts very badly so being in the kids section of the hospital was a nightmare and that is why I am not cured I think (btw I got a blood test and have tons of symptoms lol and it came back positive and I have learnt to live with it)

I would of had that baby up the children's hospital and I would of refused to leave until they sorted it out. My really bouncy baby boy had breathing problems and I would not leave, I stayed for a second then a third opinion and luckily I did as my son stopped breathing, needing resusc and an oxygen tent. Its not normal for blood curdling screaming! Colic causes a whimpering cry.
I will pray for everybody who is suffering from any kind disease
