Neighbor Sue and I check out this Fred Again Mash Up by Ren. We don't know any of Fred Again's music so some of this is probably lost on us, but we're fans of Ren and always enjoy what he puts out there. This song inspired us to get more familiar with Fred Again. Thanks again to Ren for open up our world to more music and artists we otherwise might not have heard of.

This is a mash up/reworking of 5 Fred Again EDM tracks : Jungle ; Delilah (Pull Me Out of This) ; leavemealone ; Clara (The Night is Dark) ; Angie (I've Been Lost). Ren saw Fred Again live in LA and broke down when he heard the line "I've been lost" repeated over and over. He said it was the story of the last 10 years of his life. Love the lighting and the camerawork on this

What I love about this is that even though it's a mash-up of Fred Again (who is an EDM musician by the way) Ren has managed to make it his own - and when I listen I get the feeling that Ren shows us his soul. There is a rawness and an authenticity here that goes straight to my heart.
I heard he went to a Fred Again concert and kind of broke down during the show. He is still going through Hellish treatments and in a lot of pain. And him dealing with this so fucking long. I could never imagine what he battles in his will and soul. Every time I hear this its like I feel his anguish and fatigue. Breaks my heart. But he keeps working !! Brother that's passion ! This I think was only a few weeks from hearing the concert to making this mash-up of 5 of EDM artist Fred Again songs.. Thanks guys..

Not trying to correct you, but while Ren is far from being free of his medical issues, he's gotten past the days of constant pain and hellish treatments. After being diagnosed correctly, he spent almost a year trying to find what he should do next, most doctors were baffled because they had never treated someone who had untreated Lyme disease for so long and survived. Ren was doing massive research himself and randomly sending out his medical records to specialists all over the world. As fate would have it, since he had started making music again at that time, a kid in Florida, who was a new fan of his music, has a dad that is at the leading edge of stem cell research. The kid told his dad about Ren's story and the doctor said if Ren could get to Florida, that Ren could stay at their home and he'd do the surgery for free.
He said if the surgery worked it would drastically improve all the muscle mass damage Lyme disease had caused and eventually stop the root of most of the pain he was in. Thing is, at that time it only had a 50% success rate, and is EXTREMELY painful recovery for the first couple months. Fortunately it was successful, I believe shortly after the surgery is when we start seeing videos like MG1 and Losing it, where Ren's physique is returning and you can tell he's been at the gym.
The treatments that are ongoing in Canada are more for the neurological damage the disease did, repairing broken synapsis in his brain, metabolic inefficiencies, and finding a daily diet/vitamin routine that brings homeostasis to his body, which is a big factor for anyone who suffers from a disease that affects your autoimmune system. The research center is also using Ren a bit as a guinea pig, with Ren's blessing of course, since he had the disease for so long untreated, they're able to do testing and research on how advance his condition had gotten and hopefully find some answers to better treatment or a cure for others with autoimmune issues in the future. His treatments there are no where near as brutal as the surgery, and not much pain involved, they just take a toll on him as far as being monotonous, day in and day out, same thing, tons of supplements each day, weird IV fluids, a weird skull cap for scanning his brain, that kind of stuff, it wears on him mentally he said, more than physically, but he said it's totally worth it.
As far as Fred Again, it's true what you said about the concert, but Ren has been into him for a while, he's very popular in the UK, he's much more than a house DJ, multi-instrumentalist, classically trained, producer and multi Grammy winner.

I would never mind being corrected I have only known of Ren for about 8 months now I did know his diligence is the only reason that he finally had the correct diagnose after so many years of Doctors giving him teat book diagnoses. And treating him for ailments that did not exist. I can only imagine the vindication and relief he had when there was a cause for what was going on ! I have never had music affect me like Rens music does very hard to explain, and I have been a rocker since mid 60s grew up in San Francisco bay area and there are a lot of venues to explore music I averaged at least 4 concerts a month
so I have seen most and as a kid it was street summer of love ( but being a kid) just the music is what friends and I rode our bikes to around Hate/ Ashbury Dad sure hated those hippies !! lol
But ren has a message in his music I feel is so important these days draws me to him. I just would understand that he would still have days of melancholy still fighting the fight for so long, That is what I feel in this mash-up. I have loads of empathy and love for this human and feel he is going to do great things. I would encourage and defend him with my last breath, I feel he is that important to this world. Thank you for your kind words and response, I'm so glad you were ok with my comment, some people get very touchy with a response like that, and I normally wouldn't even bother, but I share your feelings about Ren (more on that in a second), I'm semi retired and often trying to find ways to fill my day, so I've followed Ren's journey from right around the time he released "Hi Ren" pretty closely. There's a lot of misinformation, or not quite the whole story, type stuff floating around since he started to blow up recently, and yours was totally at the "not the whole story" end of the spectrum, I just like to put as much full story information out there when I can in hopes that people like you will enjoy it, and there's less chance of gossip or misinformation, Ren's got enough on his plate, that's the last thing he needs is tabloid crap....lol.
Thank you also for sharing a little bit of your history with me, I very much enjoyed reading about it, I'm very jealous of your youth! I was a little bit after that, I was literally born in the final weeks of the 1960s. In my early 20s though, before finding my calling as a firefighter, I followed the Grateful Dead for a couple summers around the Midwest, grew up and still reside about 45min or so southwest of St. Louis. Boy oh boy what I would give to spend some time around Haight Street in the 60s, what a magical time and place that must have been to experience in your youth, did you ever get to see or bump into the Grateful Dead or other 60's icons from that era? I'm sure they weren't just hanging out on the corner everyday as some of the folklore would have us believe...lol, but I imagine your chance of bumping into them or catching them at a small venue was much higher at that time and place.
Like I said, I share your fondness for Ren. Before finding my calling, I played guitar pretty seriously, gave lessons and was in a few college bands, then I was an apprentice and part time employee at a sound engineering studio for a while, but either playing or listening to music remained a constant in my life and I have always had a deep connection with with it. It fascinates me how music can move us like it does. There's a group called Godsmack I was pretty into in my 30s, more hard rock, but really good. They put out a song a couple years ago, where they recorded almost all of it at a high school gymnasium with all the students, after splitting them into groups and teaching them how to play and sing the song, it's a really touching song and video, it's called "Unforgettable" if you want to check it out. Sully Erna, the lead singer, gives an inspirational speech at the beginning of the video, and I found out later it was just a snippet of it, I later found the entire thing, but can't find it now, but it went like this.....(paraphrasing)......
What is music? Well I can tell you a single note is nothing more than something like a guitar string being plucked, and the rapid movement of the string causes a wave of energy to move through the air at a certain speed and wave length (frequency) until it enters our ears and hits our eardrums, which are sensitive to those waves of energy and are able to translate them into an electrical signal sent to our brains which tells us that we're hearing an A-flat or or B-sharp or whatever note that is, even if we don't know the note, we hear it.
So why is it then, a barrage of these waves of energy at all different frequencies and speeds and sound sources, hitting our eardrums in certain patterns or combinations, can move us so deeply?? How can simple invisible waves of energy bring us to tears, pump us up before a big game, make us want to dance until the sun comes up, or evoke nostalgia from fond memories of a time long gone??
Well unfortunately, I don't have a definitive or scientific answer for you, but as one of you eluded to when we were doing interviews for this video, pretty much every group, tribe, clan, society, and overall civilization that's ever existed on this planet, music in some form or fashion has been a part of their culture. So to me, regardless of ones faith in a higher power, supreme being or lack there of, I believe music is the universe's way of telling us we belong, that despite being a speck of dust floating in a sunbeam on a universal scale, we are all still star children of something greater, and music is what binds us.
Ok, I paraphrased a lot..lol, but isn't that a beautiful thought, and that type of reasoning and logic is the best way I can convey to others how much Ren's music means to me, how much I feel connected to it, and just how unbelievably talented I think he is. In all my years I have never felt this way about an artist, and it's not in a fanboy way...."OMG if I met him I wouldn't know what to say, so I'm placing him on this huge pedestal that makes him uncapable of wrong doing or free of criticism".....It's just that I feel like Ren is tapped into that Universal energy that Sully talked about in his speech more than anyone I've ever encountered, like he embodies music to a scary degree, ya know.

@@sunshynff Haha, quite a story, And yea I ran into bands that were huge. but were not at the time.. We were kid's on bikes not allowed in the house until supper time ! So cruising around all the hippies was a kick.. They were nice and friendly. And no never drugs. But riding through Golden Gate Park was always pretty inserting. I could not tell you most of the bands, street performers, singers I seen or who they were/are, But I did meet Greatful Dead, Carlos Santana, Steve Miller, George Thorogood. Seen most in the City. Santana went to a party when 17 at a beach on the Russian River outside Guerneville CA and it was a blast !! Just about 100 or 150 people.
Fred Again (Frederick John Philip Gibson) is known to many as club or house DJ (not really my thing), and in that genre is massively popular worldwide, but he's pretty popular period in the UK, and he's much more than just a DJ. He's a classically trained multi-instrumentalist, at 16 Brian Eno, of Roxy Music (who Is also a producer and apparently a legend in the UK for pioneering contributions to ambient music, electronica and game changer for house music), took Fred under his wing and mentored him for many years. Fred has gone onto win several Grammys and BRIT Awards, he's worked with and featured a ton of big name artists, including producing albums for Ed Sheerin and Demi Lovato.
One of things that really put him on the map globally was a project he worked on during the pandemic, where he recorded his life in bits n pieces, like an audio diary, and incorporated sound bites into his music....like just a couple words or a sentence a friend said, or a fan at a show, or a fellow artist singing a line from one of their hits while they're hanging out, or environmental sounds of him walking down the street, it's quite impressive how he incorporates it. I found this video not long ago, this person put together the 5 Fred Again songs that Ren mashes up, in the order Ren played them! These are not his lyrics. These are from the Fred Again tracks. But it is all his emotionlaud out there for us, especially the "I've been lost" line. That's the one that hits home. His vouce cuts right to my heart.🎉🎉🎉

@@abbymathews5088 Processing a first listen is always a personal experience. As far as respect goes Ren holds a special place with me. How I choose to internalize and absorb his creations happens organically. I chose to listen not watch with my first experience to this creation and it was phenomenal! I am sure you will find many other opportunities to view his work without distractions, cheers!

I waited the whole video to see Sue being distracting and couldn’t pinpoint when it was supposed to be. What I DID witness was her pouring her heart out at the end of it for how much it moved her. Music is a beautiful thing and everyone reacts to it differently. Shame on all you shamers.

I do not often respond to negative comments but I was absorbed in what I was hearing and often could care less there is a camera capturing my reaction. I have had so many eye and heart opening experiences through all the new music Clay and I have learned about. Ren specifically has touched on some of my own triggers allowing me to be more expressive about my guarded spaces. What I did learn is that Fred Again is also an artist I need to research more!
