  • Finally got the front section together. Sally finished the fab work on my axle plate fixture so the rear is taking shape.

I really like the jig you created. I have a question. What size are the holes on the rear axle plates ?

@@thebuzztone the big ones are 9/16”. If I had to make that “axle plate fixture” again I would either use steel or thicker aluminum. I got a little deflection in that but ultimately my axle plates ended up in the right place. I happened to have that piece of aluminum and it was the same thickness as a stock Harley transmission plate so I can sit a transmission on it and check how it fit on the seat post.

@@johnkelly6942 Its awesome to see the exacting efforts you're going to. I'm making my own axle plates, so thank you for the hole sizing info.

Where did you get casting peices?

Various places. Found the neck at a swap meet. The seat post top, sidecar loops, front motor mount, rear motor/transmission mount and axle plates were all purchased off EBay. What you can’t find on EBay you can get from V-Twin (Taiwan Ted) if you know a dealer. I’ve gotten several parts for previous frame projects from WASCO FRAME SERVICE in Tacoma, WA. He sells the higher quality stuff and I’m pretty sure some of it comes from V-Twin. Thanks for watching a video on my wishbone frame build.
