@@denisehomestlno5470 yeah it is! this clip and the ones you're referring to are from the same film and they used autotune. If you search in fan-recorded footage from heaton park and listen to fools gold you can tell how much they had to correct Ian's vocals in the film version... Ian is infamously a terrible singer and its a shame because it can really ruin a concert at times :(
@@Scrapyy no. Ian sounded incredible at Madison Square Garden. I was there live and it was impeccable. And if you watch the UA-cam stuff you'll see. Ian could sing well at times, and did. He also could sing off key and lousy at times, and did.
An absolute unique genius, comeback gigs I watched him play mostly as I saw The Roses in 89 and 90. Gave them the groove that made Stone Roses imo. Even after his 1st gig Pete Townshend wanted him to play on an album for him. Funny old interview, Mani calling Reni The Octopus, said he was best bassist in the band, then Ian and john said he was also best singer and guitarist!! Pity he had a rough childhood and was very sensitive and private, Mani was always very protective of him esp when Reni quit, felt sorry for him
@@iainmurray5831 I couldn't've put it better myself! Exactly how I feel about Reni. Shame it's made him too sensitive to want to be in the public eye, so we miss out on his tremendous talent and sense of humour. I see he gave up on twitter too. Such a shame but I totally get it tho. People are too judgemental. It was nice to see your comment that actually seems to understand Reni, and how a difficult childhood can affect us, and have long reaching effects... I totally agree. I think he’s the best musician of the lot. Certainly the best drummer I’ve heard or SEEN: his sense of rhythm seems to come out of every pore and it’s magic to watch as well as listen to. He’s funny, talented, smart and seems like a very nice person. His singing’s great as well; Brown would not sound as good without Reni backing him up.
@@mindrolling24 I agree, he's the most watchable drummer I know of and a lovely person. It seems to me the others had to work hard to become great, but Reni was naturally gifted. I know he worked hard too, but talent just seems to ooze out of him! Like he is part of the music not just a person playing music. Reni IS rhythm/music. I wish the pro shot Reni cam footage from the gigs would be released. Be so great to watch. If I could, I'd set up some kind of Reni Appreciation Society/Fan Club/website dedicated to his enormous talent!

Mani said, we all know the lad and what hes been through, hes a cracking kid and it's a shame for him, I always felt bad for him. Reni was the key to Rose's unique sound, he was flawless. Think hes very sensitive guy, and ian Browns aggressive manner and Squires over producing and Jimmy Page obsession obv caused probs and Reni in a fragile state couldn't cope
WOW man that clip is insanely excellent, everything about it is top notch all the way down to Ian’s shoulder shuffle. A timely reminder of how GREAT music can get. Stunning.
The main thing The Stone Roses have over all the other bands is a better guitarist, a better bassist, a much better drummer, a better singer, they are cooler, much better song writing abilities and a good name. Apart from that there's not much in it to be honest.
Johnny Marr is better than Squire, so is Vini Reilly that is two better from Manchester alone! The drummer is exceptional though, Reni can lay a shit hot groove!
Placid Casual There's not much that comes to mind to dispute that mate!! It's bassline is hypnotic and like all the best music is simple. Even As a B-Side I'd say Oasis never did a tune that could get anywhere near this? Some young idiots were saying that Definitely Maybe was a better album than the Roses eponymous!!! There's not one tune I'd swap?? Cheers
I prefer this over the studio version. It sounds smoother and flows a lot better. Same thing goes for the version of Waterfall they did in the Made of Stone rehearsals.
I just love this soooooo much. The effortless talent that just oooozes out of them. Reni ma main man tho... kindness, humour and ALL that musical talent on soooo many different instruments too. He could release music as a one man band! (I wonder if he secretly does...under what name I wonder... surely he needs an outlet for all that talent, unless playing along with his offspring is enough... but I'd miss not seeing him with these guys. Such a loss to not be able to see them again... I'd love to see the whole Parr Hall show, plus all the rehearsal footage from Shane Meadows' film, Made in Stone. I absolutely bliss out on this and Waterfall and Don't Stop from the rehearsal...made the whole reunion for me as I never got to see them...boo hoo...despite being 'well' old enough!
The Stone roses, is 2nd very very band of the World, after the Beatles. ❤ I say, with 25 years old diferencia, is amazing, all the Boys, love u❤❤❤ Reni & mani, the perfect bass & drums❤❤
I love this, they sound great! I wish they'd come play at the Hollywood Bowl, it'd be perfect venue for them. Even now! I know they could pull it off. LA needs to see a band with this sounds, man!
3:13 It’s small and not something that’s incredible, but you gotta appreciate how in time/tight the band is there. A lesser band would’ve for sure came in too early or too late.
Remember driving from work at 5:30 with three roses albums in my suit pocket, arriving down a gridlocked bridge foot and screaming at the traffic to move. Low and behold, after blocking the entrance to the pyramid car park I was refused a ticket. They'd sold out. Moral of the story, don't work behind a desk. Yes Ian. Still think about that day and what could have been... 2017* As good as fucking ever ✌🏻 See you at the eagle 👍🏼
That first album is better than anything the Beatles have ever done - including any other band / artist for that matter - and I fucking love the Beatles.
These boys really are the best english band for decades. For a few seconds of this video the band are in total adulation of Ian and before that Ian is thinking....fucking hell these boys are too good for me. The greatest in a long time!
Best Fuckin Drummer that never got the recognition until the roses needed him❤❤❤❤
The whole band just sounds incredible.
Reni does his magic with his eyes entirely closed,Priceless.
Probably my favourite musician of all time
I was just a young lad all those years ago at the blackpool gig but now I'm older I realise I witnessed legends
Brown & Wreni's harmonies just such a delight & Squire & Mani deliver as per. Sublime!!!!
Who said Ian Brown can't sing? Brilliant performance....
On form that night for sure
he can, he just rarely does it well.
It was autotuned in post-production for the film. Don't believe me? Listen to the bootleg. That's magic 🤷♂️
@@tc8066 Yep, it's obviously auto tuned. I've rarely heard Ian hit notes live and I love the band.
