    0:24 These videos are so resourceful. Thank you!
    I have a question. My two-and-a-half-year-old does not do exactly what I introduce to her on the shelf. For instance, she mixes dry pouring activities with wet ones and turns the whole shelf into one big chaos. Whenever I try to interrupt, she throws tantrums. How do I direct this choice of hers? 😅

      Thank you for your kind words and for sharing your question! 😊 It's wonderful that you find the videos resourceful. I completely understand your concern regarding your two-and-a-half-year-old's choices in the Montessori environment.
      In Montessori philosophy, it's important to remember that children are naturally curious and eager to explore. Mixing activities and creating their own learning experiences is a normal part of their development. It's a sign of their independence and creativity.
      Here are a few suggestions to guide your child's choices while still respecting their independence:
      Observe and Reflect: First, observe your child's interests and try to understand why they might be mixing activities. It could be a sign of curiosity or a desire for more challenge.
      Prepare the Environment: Ensure that the materials on the shelf are developmentally appropriate for your child's age and abilities. Rotating materials can also help maintain their interest.
      Set Clear Expectations: In a calm and gentle manner, explain the purpose of each activity and the ground rules for using them. Use simple language that your child can understand.
      Model and Demonstrate: Spend time demonstrating how to use the materials correctly. Show enthusiasm for the activity, and your child may be more inclined to follow suit.
      Offer Choices: Provide choices when possible. For example, you could say, 'You can choose either the dry pouring or the wet pouring activity today. Which one would you like to try?'
      Respect Independence: While it's essential to guide your child's choices, also respect their independence. Allow them to explore and learn from their experiences, even if it means a bit of mixing at times.
      Stay Patient: Tantrums are a common part of toddlerhood. Stay patient and empathetic during these moments. Offer comfort and support while gently reinforcing the ground rules.
      Remember, the Montessori approach values independence, self-discovery, and hands-on learning. Your child's exploration, even if it leads to some chaos, is part of their natural development and can be a valuable learning experience. With time, guidance, and consistency, they will gradually learn to make more independent and purposeful choices in their Montessori environment.

    You broadened me. Thank you. What about snack time. Is there fixed schedule for snacks or it also depends on a child

    • @SunshineTeachersTraining
      @SunshineTeachersTraining  8 місяців тому

      Thank you for your kind words! I'm glad to hear that you found the video helpful. Snack time in a Montessori environment can vary depending on the specific school or setting, but it often follows a flexible schedule that respects the child's needs and hunger cues.
      In Montessori, there is an emphasis on promoting independence and allowing children to make choices within reasonable boundaries. Snack time can be a part of this approach. While there may be a general timeframe for snack (such as mid-morning and mid-afternoon), it's important to observe each child and adjust the schedule based on their individual needs.
      Some children may prefer to eat earlier, while others might be less hungry at the scheduled time. Montessori educators typically encourage children to listen to their bodies and make choices about when they want to eat within the established snack periods. This helps children develop a sense of self-regulation and responsibility.
      So, in summary, while there may be a loose schedule for snack time, Montessori often allows for flexibility to accommodate each child's unique preferences and needs. If you have more specific questions or need further information, please feel free to ask.
