I have used many synths over the years - both hardware and VSTs. I only ever use Omnisphere now. Fantastic presets but also once you deep dive in you can make anything from the most simple to the most complex sounds. An amazing piece of kit.
I have SOOOOO many synths both hardware and software, I had actually forgotten how good Omnisphere is. Thanks Woody, I shall be diving back in shortly. As ever, your channel is both informative and inspiring. ❤🎹🕶👍
Nice playing! For what it’s worth, on videos like this, I’d like to hear your commentary on each sound after and/or during your time with it. Even better, it’d be fun to see you poke around in the patch programming and talk about what’s going on behind the sound. But I know there are many who just want playing and no talking 🤷♂️
thanks for the suggestion! yes, i agree that it would enhance the video, but as you say it's about trying to strike the balance for all types of viewers. personally i find the all playing videos really boring. i connect with the host, not the instrument.
I went through every god damn preset (Yep "Every" one 😵💫) to mark out my favourites and by doing so I found some amazing inspiration. It's worth noting that I not only found great sounds but I also came across some amazing effects chains that I might want to use with my own creations. I had to do this over many months as I found auditioning more than a few hundred at a time resulted in getting totally synthed out and then everything started to sound samey !
in the same way you can also random the samples of the oscilators, andthis will give you tons of new random possibilities starting with the same preset
I have been a user of omnisphere from the day it was released. What a beast of a synth. By the way you can use the cursor keys to scroll through the presets. By the way I love the new upgrades you have done to the channel, it has taken it up a notch or two. A good investment there.
Was hoping you might stumble across one of my factory patches but, given I only made about 50 or so, the odds were not in my favour! :) Think how many of these videos you could do before running out of patches!!!
all true! the viewers are in luck though, if memory serves I did do a video featuring the best of yours and plugingurus omnisphere factory presets, my two fav sound designers! :)
Hello Woody, i hope your new home has so much more room, as you seem to have a lot of instruments. Do you still have that organ with those cheap but great speakers you got in a much older video? You must be lucky that your wife does not matter to much that you got so manny instrumets. 😀I myself rather have a all in one solution, with all those seperate things you lately showed, you have so much work setting things up when you take your music outside, to a venue. So for me, two keyboards and a PA system is more than plenty 🙂 Thanks for sharing, as it IS so much fun to see what's out there if you're building a studio it must be fun having so much devices. It's all about what you plan to do with them. Happy easter. Kind regards, Ronald.
hi ronald, no, i don't have any speakers at the moment, i am always attempting NOT to have too much gear! I often buy stuff just to make a video and then the week after a lot of it is gone! in fact, having a lot of stuff just makes me stressed!
The EXtensions have certainly given that. I do agree, but then I do like the current. Its focus is on functionality and not Moog knobs. I wouldn’t miss that grey though 😅
there is room for workflow shortcuts, for example Esc key to return from a "zoom window" instead of having to locate and click the X. why not different skins, themes, knob styles etc. some of the knobs on the effects sections are a bit skeuomorphic and hard to see position at a glance
i wonder what a typical price is for a decent vst synth, perhaps 100 to 200. and you might need to buy a few of them to cover what OS can do, so it starts to make a bit more sense.
put you notepad / word pad, beside omnishere, and write down you best favorite patches, just a few of them, something like 1-50, not more than that, this way you can allways, remember those patches, i know, there is over 14000 patches, so it will properly take a lifetime, the last thing you wanna do is, to sit all day, finding the right patch for you songs.
Woody, have you tried the Unreal engine 5.3 ??, you can make music vidoes , product commercial vidoes, movies, games, its so fantastic , and its complety free, unless you are a big company.
Happy Easter! Who are you trying to fool? No synth player has more plants and wires. And what about the dust? We're on to Woody. Get a real studio. 🤔 🎹
I'll give you til the end of the year do build up a nice layer of dust, and make a mess of your desk. I always found it odd that you always don't show your studio floors. I know there's a ton of wires and cords, and us fans deserve to see them! 😅 🎚 🎛 🎹
@@RichKielbasa :) my floor is just as bad! but i have totally failed if the camera is angled to the floor. maybe time for a new behind the scenes soon!
it might seem that way! but a busy content creator like me always has a buffer of done videos in queue for publishing!:) you might be seeing stuff i recorded weeks or months ago....
I like this idea of picking random presets. This is great for finding inspiration. Thank you, Woody!

thank you, means a lot!
So many good presets in Omnisphere. I typically use them to get the inspiration going whenever I'm stuck!
Omnisphere is the most inspiring tool in my toolset. The sounds are georgeous.
Thanks Woody great stuff as usual, cheers from New Zealand.
Thank you Woody, I love your videos!
Great video Woody 👍
How cool are these patches!
Beautiful

appreciate that! yes the cursor keys navigation of the presets is superb and something i wish all plugins supported!
Woody, god påske.

Those are the very best indeed. And thanks for yet another great video, Woody.
@@WoodyPianoShack Oh, cool! John’s an incredible programmer.
My favorite preset is called Jan Hammer's favorite chord. :D

@@WoodyPianoShack Yes, i can imagine that. Specially if you lack the time to use everything, it has no use to keep it around.
08:30 Harry Dwyer..? Another great channel. I’m guessing you wrote the music for his channel?
i did not write them, but remixed one of his own songs that he uses on every video! love harry's channel.
Great sounds but i HATE a laptop attached to a keyboard i dont know why i just do....
yeah it's not cool on stage, but fine in the studio i think.
This powerful synth definitely needs a facelift.

Once again reminded how much I'd like to have Omnisphere.
...checks website...
Yep. Still $500. Not gonna happen, unfortunately!

good idea, a further improvement, you can mark them as favorites and rank them within the plugin, so no need for wordpad!
Woody, have you tried the Unreal engine 5.3 ??, you can make music vidoes , product commercial vidoes, movies, games, its so fantastic , and its complety free, unless you are a big company.
Can i mark my preset as favorite in omnisphere ??, never tried that, i must try that, it will be easier for me, remembering patches.

@@WoodyPianoShackI notice that you have the excellent Creative Pebble speakers. Well done. Good video too.
Don't we all buy it and end up making music with software😅
